That's a heck of a challenge in May. Well done.

Nice one! That’s on my list for this summer. Trying to be patient with the snowpack but after watching this I want to get up high. Eyeing up Mummy Mtn for one of the first challenges of the year

Mummy would be a great option! I expect its east ridge/north face will be pretty melted out in the next week or two

Impressive day. No easy feat to bag Isolation Peak in these conditions. Ogalalla next?

Thanks, hoping to soon. The ascent to it from Cony Pass looks gnarly with snow on it so I'll probably give it some time to melt out

Should've hitched a ride when I was up there back in April... didn't tithe enough I guess!

I wish I could do that... wish I lived in Colorado. Can you list all your gear and where you got them from?

My gear is all pretty much from REI. Hiking poles, gaiters, ice axe, microspikes, snowshoes are all part of my winter kit. The snowshoes specifically are MSR Lightning Ascents which are designed specifically for longer snow slope climbs and I'm very happy with them. Snowshoe designs can vary a lot depending on the kind of terrain you're dealing with so I would research that

I'm hoping to hike this later this summer as my first 13er. I was planning on taking a few days and camping at Ouzel lake, so I didnt have to worry about time. As someone whos never done a hike to a peak, do you have any tips for me?

Hey! Sorry, youtube isn't pinging comments for me for some reason. It may not matter anymore for you but I would not recommend this as a first 13er mostly because of the lack of trail and need for some routefinding. It was a very long, mostly off-trail day (though obviously easier if you split it over 2 days) where help if one needs it is a long ways away. There are a couple much better nearby options--I would recommend Hallett Peak out of the Bear Lake trailhead, or Mt Audubon in the Indian Peaks wilderness further south, that are significantly shorter and trailed all the way to the summit. I also think both have slightly better summit views. Good luck and hope this helps

@@montaneist no worries! I wasn't able to get a reservation anyways. Thank you so much for the advice, I'll be on the lookout for next summer!
