A standing ovation for our Mayor, please. 22 million have applied for unemployment. There are millions of people who are out of work who don't qualify for unemployment. Farmers are now dumping millions of pounds of fresh produce because the processing plants are closed or the distribution chain, (restaurants) are closed. Fresh foods that would have been served to students is being dumped in farmer's fields because it is rotting. I spoke to a trucker yesterday who said he was hauling 3-5 semi-truck loads of potatoes from Michigan to Florida each week and delivering to the potatoes chip factory. The factory is closed and the trucker is not trucking those potatoes. They have a shelf life as all fresh fruits and vegetables do. I read a report yesterday that stated we are mere weeks away from euthanizing millions of farm animals because they can't get them to the processors. (factories closed) All those chickens so many of us like to grill, fry, bake and eat are at risk of being buried in mass graves. A cornish chicken goes from hatch-ling to processing in only 6-8 weeks. Once those chickeys get to butchering weight, they have to get to market fast. If those birds are allowed to continue to grow, it is very common for them to break their legs under their own weight. (Sorry for those of you that didn't know that, but it is true.) They cannot keep those birds for extra weeks, they must get processed or they must kill them and get ready for the new hatch-lings that are being hatched everyday. There are a few reports of up and coming food shortages because of the interruption of the distribution chain. As the Mayor rightly said, you can't just start the economy like pushing a button. The collateral damage will be far reaching and we have yet to really see what that looks like. We must open this economy and every single day that we don't do it has a compounding effect with potentially catastrophic consequences of epic proportions. The farmers are in serious trouble, but oh well, they only produce the food we eat. How about we do everything to make SURE our food distribution is not diminished in anyway, much less have the entire food chain derailed. Think about it. Millions of pounds of food are being dumped and mass graves for certain livestock is imminent if the distribution does not start up again. We all know about supply and demand. All this in addition to over 20 million people filing for unemployment. The cure is worse than the virus. (understated beyond comprehension)

Wash hands, cover your face, wash your groceries, and wash clothes and shower, mop your floors or keep shoes for only outdoor use. We can overcome this.
