Some bands start small.
Queen? No, they started at the very top and proceeded to break the scale of musical excellence.
What a band.
Queen started very small, they once called the band Smile, and it wasn't till after Killer Queen the band became popular and only a year later they released what is considered their best song, Bohemian Rhapsody, but many devout Queen fans will tell you to listen to a different song they believe is underrated. Underrated is a term coined by Queen fans that wanna stay hip and seem cool by acting like they know every Queen song and will most likely say it is better than [insert any popular Queen song after 1975]. This song isn't underrated it was just in the earlier years of the band, when they were still in the discovery age, so this song isn't underrated it was just ignored for the most part, forgotten. This is a really long and rambling on comment, so the point is that just because something is popular it started from the top, it took many years for Queen to get as famous as it is now. Or maybe I misread your comment and you were right and I wrote this essay for nothing. Cheers mate

You have to admit that the Brits do rock music better than anyone else, it may have started here in the states, but it took the British to show us how to do it properly.
They incorporated more classical european musical styles into rock whereas American acts were still doing blues oriented rock. The result is way better music.
@@clarenceeugene9692 you are so right. And that's one reason (I speculate) that they never quite went over here as well as in the UK. There are 2 branches (to simplify). I LOVE that the Euros have the classical influence (but then I took piano/ballet for years).

I never realized before until I started playing guitar and "training" my musical ear with different artists... that Brian May's guitar tone is truly UNIQUE!. You can either like or dislike his playing or tone, but that specific tone is up there with guys like David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix and Robert Fripp
John Deacon is quite the electronic engineer, as well as a kick ass bassist. The Deacy amp was a masterpiece, that Brian has spent years trying to reverse engineer with limited success.
You can't not like his playing. I do not allow such crime to happen.
May's sound is always determined by what the song needs (within the boundaries of the technology available) :)

Totally unique because literally nobody has a guitar even similar to his. He built it from scratch using wood and materials he found at his house when he was a teenager. It's truly a one of a kind instrument and it sounds great

Your video sent me here!
Hey I just came here from your video! Thank you.
I’m as fascinated by this kind of epic composing just as I am with the classical composers, because I have no idea how they do this...how do they come up with these intricate compositions...they seem so random, but I know they’re not. Freddie had some kind of image in his mind...some message, but how they come to express it in rock composition like this just boggles my brain. The drumming is perfect...the guitar work is perfect, and Freddie’s vocals are pristine. It seems they came from the egg fully formed.
You're absolutely right, although I think this song makes a good object lesson in that idea because it's actually fairly straightforward: Mercury first describes King Rat as society saw him living in its streets, a rebel and a delinquent, with tense, angry music underlying this simmering conflict. Then after three times indicating that the implications haven't sunk in for the listener and that he's in need of a more direct way of showing us what Great King Rat was all about ("Now what did I tell you/Would you like to see?"), the tension gives way into a glorious exultant bridge in which Rat's philosophy and the freedom it entails is proclaimed by Mercury as from atop mountains. It's a song about the romance of rebellion, which comes on at first like it's about the grimness and grittiness of rebellion but keeps giving you clues until it finally admits what it's doing, leaving just enough time to reaffirm the bottled violence of the first section as the flipside of the bridge's liberating swell, returning to the street and its fights with the sacred revelation of Holy Mischief now burning in the heart and landing the punches even harder.

THE DRUMS ARE EXQUISITLY PERFECT AND A PIECE OF ART
Every time I think I can find common ground with hardcore Queen fans around their hard rock material, they have to go and praise Roger's terrible plodding sloppy "slow down guys, we are in danger of hitting a groove" drumming. He had other (vocal and image) qualities, and he definitely had his moments even when (as here) he didn't have Freddie's piano or a drum machine to keep him honest, but he was never very good, let alone perfect. And I love a lot of songs he nearly ruined!
