I've saw Heaven 17 for the first time live in this show in Berlin O2 World (2009). It was a awesome moment. 'Let me go' was in my opinion one of the best songs in the 80s.
His voice ist still great. Fantastic performance. I've listened to their music as I was sweet 14 and till today I like them and I remember, when we're dancing in the 80's in the clubs to their beats.Great time and spirit.
AnderbergConnection Adrian Wright went with the Human League.. he did play with MK1 of The Human League and went off with Phil Oakey. Heaven 17 the band comprised Martyn Ware (keyboards), Ian Craig Marsh (keyboards) (both previously with The Human League) and Glenn Gregory
One of the better bands of the 80ties !!!! first album of them was not verry comecial, second album they went commercial , and they stil good. Great voice
Martin here looks like former SS captain Gunther Lutze, in the classic _'The Twilight Zone'_ episode - _'Death's Head Revisited'_... Stellar performance all around...
"The Best Kept Secret" is definitely one of their best songs. Too bad they didn't try it out as a single - it has a nice weird "formless" vibe to it, listening to it makes me think of Japan's "Ghosts". "The Luxury Gap" in general is like a "greatest hits" album with many songs left in the shadows...
Uhhhhh, it was released in 1982 as a single (4:19) and then as an instrumental which were both 7 inch then again on 12 inch. It spend 5 weeks as number 4 on American charts. I danced to it the clubs around 1986- . I can still request here at a retro club in Dallas and gets played alot.
The Best Kept Secret uses the same chords as Let Me Go - it's effectively the same song, and used as a reprise on the album. Would be a bit strange to put it out as a single.
Hey thanks for your kind comment and the history behind it!! I had forgotten all about the stuff between Oakey and Ware. I loved Human League as a teenager but find Heaven 17 has stood the test of time much better with me!
Yes it's Martin Ware! One of the original members of Human League. But both he and Phil Oakey wanted to be the boss. Oakey won! Martin started Heaven 17 with Glen Gregory and Adrian Wright
This song spoke to me at 13...still does at 51...ty x

His voice ist still great. Fantastic performance. I've listened to their music as I was sweet 14 and till today I like them and I remember, when we're dancing in the 80's in the clubs to their beats.Great time and spirit.
Ware is actually a very capable vocalist. Great combo with Gregory.
I reckon Andy bell from erasure would be a good duet with Glen

Die guten 80ziger, die konnten wenigstens noch singen. Wenn ich da vieles von heute höre, keine Qualität mehr.

Actually...... This is bloody good !!!! I've come across " Night of the Proms" stuff before. It would be good if some of it was televised in the UK !!
Very impressive, superb production, great vocals from Mr Gregory and backing team.
