i am amazed at some of the comments on here, Glenn and Martyn are tow of the most polite and wonderful guys you could meet and have a conversation with.. when you think this song was released in 1983 and is still way up there 31 years later.. yes there are different mixes to keep the track fresh.. and the various female singers they have have amazing voices.. and H17 are currently recording a new album.. yes the Steel City is back

Saw them on Sunday in Manchester as support to the brilliant Squeeze , I was very impressed Rachel and Kelly blew the roof off the place and Kelly’s voiceless is off the scale
Dont get the haters, yes the original was bloody brilliant, this version is as good in a million different ways, Kelly Barnes vocals are off the bloody scale, what a voice. I would have loved to have been at Rewind to see this.
Reason folks don't like remakes like this is all the shite thats spewed out in the first 5 mins or so, like it jus ruins a classic, once they kick in with the actual song is bloody great, up to that point though total shite copy n paste club bollocks
The problem is not the vocals as such - it is the insufferable, arousing vocal demonstrations, literally cannibalising a gorgeous classic to ghastly bits. Needless to say, the euro-dance arrangement and Glenn's "come ons" only add insult to injury. For someone pioneering electronics early on, this level of update is downright disappointing on all levels. And with those early couple of albums of theirs, they really were such a cool band. Now, Heaven 17 have a tendency to do constant updates of their classic songs, most especially "Temptation" and in most instances the update never surpassed the gorgeous original but here they just lost the plot completely, killing off their biggest hit. And it's not about "hating" - they have every right to do it "in a million different ways"... but there is nothing wrong with playing "Temptation" close to its studio original thus keeping the very essence of that song intact. It would still hold an element of surprise live and please the audience, without self-proving this dreadful and pompous. In its original form, "Temptation" remains a timeless classic and a cool hit for all the right reasons; Carol Kenyon's vocal presence in the original adds tons of grace to it, in the end stealing the show turning a Heaven 17 classic into her very own. That's the beauty of it. Here, there is no such thing, there is no song to start with - it all sounds like a fucking headache, the backing singers just wouldn't let it breathe. The only thing that is "golden" here is the example of how to ruin something that never needed a mend in the first place.

I remember very well; the 80's ...everyone in my classroom listened to Duran Duran or Spandau Ballet...I listened to Heaven 17, the Cure... you name it.

Only just come across this on my recommended list! I can remember the original from '83, classic. This live version uses the Brothers In Rhythm remix as it's base, that came out in '92. Kelly Barns does the vocal justice. Wow! Reminds me of Becky Hill, another UK vocalist whom has that range.

Just seen them at Sheffield University November 2017.....I'm from Sheffield and was there when Human League first formed with their original members.....Nuff said...Heaven 17 were just amazing....
