The Santa Cruz will be remembered for its uniqueness. The Tuscon is just like any other SUV on the road. Both are great. If you ask a general consensus of what's more preferrable, most men will say the Santa Cruz is more preferrable whereas most women would choose the Tuscon. If you live a more rugged lifestyle, the Santa Cruz is the best option, if you live a more posh lifestyle the Tuscon is the best option.

The higher trims have lovely heated leather-wrapped steering wheels. Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooove mine all through our Canadian winters. (Which are definitely colder than yours!) I do prefer the knobs and buttons of the base center stack over the all-touch stuff in the Limited. Hoping that when we replace my wife's train wreck of an Equinox (2020 and hasn't made it through a single winter without issues yet!) with a Tuscon PHEV. The Tucson is really nice. If the current generation had been out in 2020, that's what we would have bought, but the previous generation was a fair bit smaller.

Interesting!! My niece is looking at both and says they drive very differently as well! She is leaning towards the Santa Cruz, but finds it a little expensive and may just get a Tacoma. We live in Canada and the only powertrain you can get is the Turbo with the DCT. That makes the initial purchase price much higher than what Nathan could get for what I think is the better Santa Cruz. DCTs belong in cars,,,,, kinda like CVTs belong in Side x Sides. 😂😂.
Hey Nathan!! You are too hard on yourself!! You are a very good journalist and have a different personality than most!! I think it would be fun if you did a collaboration with Tyler Hoover from Hoovie’s Garage. Regardless, your knowledge goes way back so you better understand the progression f how vehicles have developed over the years. How the current Civic is larger than the Accord of the 80s,,,, literally!! The Accord is full sized now! The trucks went from regular cab only and everything other than a steering wheel, manual shift and 6 cylinder were standard base trucks & a “Loaded” truck had less than the cheap Ram TFL currently has. That translates into so much more ability to relate!
You do a great job, are my favourite TFL personality, and are one of the best on the team if not THE best on the team! You see similar comments all the time and fans miss you very quickly when you are not on for a while vs the other team members. It’s very noticeable.

@@moondog3056 The pricing of a Santa Cruz and Tacoma are comparable in Canada, like he said they only get the DCT/Turbo models, they don't get the automatic/NA model so the base price of the Santa Cruz is higher.
It makes total sense when considering your options to realistically consider what you get for the price, so for the same price as a Santa Cruze you could get the Taco, which is much more capable and much more truck. So in that sense, the Santa Cruz is expensive since the same amount of CAD can net you more vehicle elsewhere. You'd basically have to prioritize on road handling, cabin space and styl to go for the SC in a dollar for dollsr comparison.

All electric or plug in hybrid would make the Santa Cruz outstanding. Or base it on the Palisade, bumping up space, HP, and tow rating. We own a Telluride, I would love to see a pickup version of it.

We own 2 Hyundais.... 2017 Santa Fe and a 2018 Tucson.... I have to say.. Love the cars... But I really hate what Hyundai has done with their styling as of late. Just an opinion, but I won't buy another one unless they get it back. I mean.. the first thing you gotta like about a vehicle is how it looks.

The SC has a plastic bed vs steel in others. And Hyundai bragging it can tow 5k but does not include a brake controller is so dangerous. I would not want to be behind a SC towing a big boat.
The AWD Maverick I show on my channel has a steel bed and includes a built-in brake controller even at 4k tow.

Hyundai/KIA have had too many serious design flaws & major recalls for my taste, & I've read that getting them to honor their warranty on various developed problems is sometimes a major undertaking. So, I just don't trust the two sibling brands. Also, the styling tends to be odd, over-the-top and/or off-putting in some manner.

  • @cmscms123456

When the Santa Cruz transmission fails, it goes into what Hyundai calls 'limp' mode, you speed will drop to 20 mph... VERY DANGEROUS on highways, or any road. You take it in to Hyundai service they will tell you, they never have problems with this car, and no, there are no recalls. THERE ARE RECALLS ON THAT TRANSMISSION.... Contact your State's Attorney General and the BBB, Im in California and my Attorney General has been very helpful... unlike Hyundai. Is you own one of these, I recommend sell it before... either the transmission goes out, or the work gets out that these are lemons... and the value drops. Im betting Hyundai will terminate this transmission or the Santa Cruz all together... Besides, Toyota is coming out with their sub-compact Truck for 2024.

I say just buy a Ford instead. Hyundai does not stand behind their products and only Hyundai and Kia have vehicles that 10 year olds can quickly steal with a screw driver and the end of a USB cable due to not having an immobilizer in the cars (my old 2000 no option Ford Escort had an engine immobilizer and yet a modern hyundai does not)
