I just made a batch and although they turned out pretty good, they just needed MORE CINNAMON! Next time I will add MORE cinnamon and also add some more to the apples. But then again...I love to taste the CINNAMON. 😉

If you can, pick your own apples to do this beforehand. Granny Smith picked ripe from the tree is recognizable yet fully more interesting to eat & cook with. There are so many other apples that would reward your efforts also: Maiden Blush, Empire, Northern Spy, Smokehouse, Winesap, Rhode Island Greening, GoldRush, Rambour Franc - lots of possibilities!

@@vegasjill21 I made a variation of these, today. One thing I did different was to saute' the apple chunks in butter and a couple tbsp. sugar for about five min. and letting the cool before adding to the batter. They turned out pretty decent except that they could have been cooked a little longer.

Don't use PUFA oils! Lard is better. "Nutritionally speaking, lard has nearly one-fourth the saturated fat and more than twice the monounsaturated fat as butter. It is also low in omega-6 fatty acids, known to promote inflammation; according to lard enthusiasts free-range pigs that eat greens, not grains, have higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids."- Dr Weil, "Is Lard Healthy?"
