Great suggestion about cutting out the zipper and doing laces instead! I've been worrying about finding boots without zippers, it's nice to know there are options even if the boot /does/ have a zipper 🙏🙏🙏
Boots/shoes are the hardest part for me. With a large toe box women's boots are mostly out. Heat is also an issue. Summer Ren Fairs can get really hot and being it a boot causes overheating issues for me. I want with a men's low cut, almost dress shoe. Fits well and is somewhat cool. I consider it beginner passable. But I want to level up.
A pair of boots that work well for me with any costume just about are 19th century style gun fighter boots by abilene. Well worth the money and has the right look to be able to work well with 17th-19th century and fantasy costumes like game of thrones or dark souls.
Great video. Only problem (with me) is the one you are proposing on Amazon are too tall. Any chance you can do a tutorial on how to modify them (in that case) ? That'll be really helpful. Thanks to answer
Unfortunately I don't have any specific recommendations there. If you have sabatons, it probably does not matter as much because you won't actually see the boots.
Speaking for the women of the world, no, you CANNOT have your tall boots back as a men's-only thing. But I'm certainly willing to share them. Here's to reform in men's boot fashion! (and women's pockets, but that's a whole 'nother discussion). I nearly laughed aloud when you pulled out your favorite pair of boots. I have a very well-worn pair of that exact same style of Tevas that I wore to renfaire last Saturday. They are now sitting on the porch with a nice coating of mud. I will say that the lining is coming apart, but that they've lasted for years, and for at least one year of nearly daily wear working at used bookstore, which involved all sorts of scuffing around on the floor wrangling with books and boxes on low shelves, and general abuse of the leather. For some reason, I've never felt the need to artificially distress them...
Speaking for all the TALL women of the world, the men seem to have already taken tall boots back from us, since it is now clear to me that this is probably why I see all the large women's sizes of tall boots being sold out like everywhere.
Bruh, when you're a larper, people will already think you're weird anyway regardless of that fashion choice; so why not just go wear the tall boots you want? Buck the trend. Live your best life. People might even envy your courage and boldness for doing that.
My question is who does what in your organisation? who are the people that help make your videos possible and what they do! thanks for the awesome videos though!
Here’s my two cents on why men’s tall boots fell out of fashion. I think it also had something to do with a certain regime that liked to wear tall black boots coupled with black uniforms led by an Austrian art school reject.
It makes me kinda sad that you didn't mention this in the video. A lot of people buying leather shoes for larp and stuff are gonna be first time owners of leather shoes. A lot of them don't know how to properly maintain them (oiling, waxing, that kind of stuff)
Great videos, Zan!
This October will be my first Weekend Warrior experience. I appreciate the insight and advice in all of these.
Thank you!
Glad it is helpful! We look forward to seeing you there!

That’s what I’m sayin!! Tall boots are dope!! Lemme wear them!
This is extremely helpful! Thank you once again! Now I need to check all my boots to see if they work. :)
Very informative!
Keep the videos coming!
Can you make a video on how to weather suede and leather boots?

Amazon can have some surprisingly good options. Medieval collectibles is fantastic as well if you're in the states
@@fauxmarmorer9544 Awesome, thanks for the tips. Yes, I'm in the states. I'll check out Medieval collectibles.
Check these out! shop.fellandfair.com/products/medieval-short-boots?_pos=1&_sid=da8df935b&_ss=r

This is a very helpful. Although what about a plain looking hiking boot with like a leather boot cover?
adrienne peebles I’ve tried that, but it is usually just uncomfortable. I highly recommend a leather Teva boot for the best combo of hiking and look.
Any midievel boots mid 14th century style recommendations to wear in burhurt Knight fight with sabatons mens?
Unfortunately I don't have any specific recommendations there. If you have sabatons, it probably does not matter as much because you won't actually see the boots.
Have you stopped selling the basic clothing kit w/ boots on the Etsy store? I saw it a while ago but can't find it now.
Kanoodles yes, unfortunately we no longer offer that.

Do you not offer the boots without tread anymore?
We do but only in select sizes. Just shoot us a request on Etsy!

Well that cop joke was prophetic
You know medieval shoes or boots didn’t have hard soles or heels right?
Yknow they talk about that in the video right?
See him flap his gums don't see him make a boot fake as hell
The cop joke didn’t age well😬😂
Your police metaphor is very accurate to the current climate
