When I've done polymer clay sculptures, I've gotten in the habit of painting my sculpture black all over first. I learned this trick from a friend who paints board game models. It makes it so that any crack or crevice you can't paint the "correct" colour, just look like a dark shadow, which is exactly what a deep crease in a model would be.
That’s actually so neat because with digital art when you make a coloring layer most artists color the entire drawing in with a dark blue or dark color.

CandyAshes Yeah I know! Digital artists do the same, when it’s white it’s easy to see where the color fill took or whatever didn’t reach between some crevices.

Chick Nug no what do you mean by that? It’s to see if you missed anywhere when you were coloring. I usually do something bright like pastel pink or red or something

A video I watched of a scrawler box unboxing had her art in it and it mentioned that she has an auto immune disorder. It said she used to do chemotherapy but I’m not entirely sure that she still needs to. I believe she’s done with that part :) the joke was really funny as long as you knew that bit but I would’ve had a heart attack hearing that otherwise LOL

Hey Rin! I don't usually make comments on posts BUT, i started my drawing journey this year, i set a goal to draw every day for one whole year! So far i've been successful and haven't missed a day! Your videos have been a really big help to me, keeping me motivated to draw and improve. I've always wanted to learn to draw but got intimidated by artists who had years of practice on me, but seeing how much you've improved and how you continue to improve each videos really inspires me to keep going! so thank you (: keep up the good work, i love your videos

a tip for any newbie sculptors or painters: Watering down the paint will allowing it to flow better into cracks and give depth. But dipping your brush in the paint, wiping away most of it and dragging it across the piece will highlight the raised bits. Its called wet brushing and dry brushing.
In other words, this was very good for the first time!! don't be afraid to try new things :)

I don't know if you'll read this, but thank you for your art videos. I watch them a lot with my four year old and they always blow her mind. This one actually inspired her to try and sculpt her own lion from playdough (which had to be blue, of course). I don't think she ever realized that she could make a sculpture. So thank you for inspiring my little artist.

I've followed Ace of Clay for a REALLY long time (like, close to his first video?) and I was also so so inspired by him to sculpt !! I've had SO much more fun sculpting since finding him, and if anybody hasn't watched him I highly reccommend his channel !! His work is AMAZING and his techniques are incredibly helpful !!
