Just a helpful hint you will probably want to avoid brushing the hairs of your brush on your hand when you first receive it. Instead you will need to soak you paint brushes before you use them. Many high quality paint brushes have a light coating on them to hold their shape until they get to the consumer, using the paint brush before this coating is removed can lead to the brush loosing it's shape. It's a small thing you never hear until someone tells you, just thought I should share. There are a few youtube videos on how to do this, hope that helps 😊
The timing on this is so so good. I've been wanting to study watercolor more because my drawings are currently just black and white and this is perfect motivation to get to it!
Hullo Rin, lovely studies! I have a real belief that creating a study or three gives you more understanding about art supplies than simple swatches! I have a watercolor painting tip? If the paper feels dry but is cool it is not truly dry! The surface is dry but the water has not completely left the paper. I have found that if you use the back of your hand and it no longer is cool to your touch, it will no longer bleed or fuzz out. I hope you continue to share your watercolor art journey with us, thanks Rin!
This is great because I've been thinking about doing more things with watercolors so tysm! Your videos are always thought out pretty well and entertaining! hope you're doing well!!❤️❤️
I’m a big watercolours user, and I really love Daniel Smith. Amethyst genuine is actually made out of real amethyst. They have a whole series made out of stones, and it’s quite pricy 😭 Also, here is my little advice :) With watercolours you wanna work in layers ; the more layers the better it’ll look ! That’s why it’s better to avoid using it with no or little water, otherwise it’ll look cakey 😭 Hope this helps a little ! 👀
Oh my god why have I never heard this tip before?? I have some colors where they're most appealing to me at their full saturation, but when I finish a painting I end up hating it because of how gross the texture was in the saturated areas. You just changed my whole life tysm QvQ
Yeah with watercolours you're meant to paint in "washes", building up the saturation using layers, and you get beautiful transparency which is an effect unique to the watercolour medium.
Well, the idea is that the primateks are genuine gemstones, but it's the question how much is actually the gemstone and how much is filler pigments. And because they refuse to disclose it, it's better not to expect a lot.
Little tip- I actually love using Amethyst genuine mixed with Indigo or Dioxazine Violet for shadows. It's a sparkly one too! I love your little desert practice pieces.
This is probably one of my favorite videos of yours to date. I’m primarily a watercolorist, and I absolutely adore not only the subject matter, but also simply the way you painted. Thanks for the inspiration! I’m busting mine out now to go paint some desert landscapes 🏜🌵☀️
You never cease to amaze me!!!! I have learned so much from you this year. (Favorite video's sculpting your bunny in a sweater) Thanks for sharing your creativity with us!
I am in no way an artist of your caliber - for starters, I haven't practiced as much - so I hope this doesn't come off as presumptuous or anything, but your journey with watercolor always makes me want to paint RIGHT NOW. Watching someone else improve, and be vulnerable enough to share the hiccups along the way, is downright inspiring. So thank you for being vulnerable. 💖
Desert landscapes are my jam, watercolors, markers, acrylics... And these are amazing Waffles. I know you don't usually like landscapes but you for sure have the knack for this. Wonderful!
That 3rd one in particular is absolutely stunning!! I really love it. It has so much atmosphere to it, it's beautiful. Hey Rin! Love this video. Wanted to leave a suggestion for using watercolours. Something I really like to do is a "splat" or "spill" on my canvas and just kind of let the paints do it's thing, and then when it's dry you go over it with pen or more watercolours/acrylics and just kind of turn whatever shapes you see into whatever you think they look like. It's kind of like looking at clouds and seeing which clouds look like what, but you get to sort of control what you see in it. I really like this technique because not only does it give you a lot of freedom but it also doesn't give you too much freedom to the point that you don't know what to draw. And also you start with a big paint splatter on your canvas so there's no chance of having a fear of the blank page problem. Anyways, I'm sure it's been suggested before, but I thought I'd let you in on my thoughts just in case! Love to see you getting a hang of these art supplies, seems like you've almost mastered a lot of them! (And even fully mastered some.) Love ya art buddy!! ❤💖💗 PS. Love to see you getting a hang of these art supplies, seems like you've almost mastered a lot of them! (And even fully mastered some.) Love ya art buddy!! ❤💖💗
PS. It is currently 2AM while writing this so ignore any poor english or confusing sentences...I tried!! 😂
These are sooo cool!! I love watercolors even though they can be a pain to work with, it takes a lot of practice and patience (the latter of which I don't always have, lol) but dayum do they give you such a cool end result.
If you work with watercolours a lot it might be worth buying a small heat gun, really cuts down on the waiting time!
