Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to get June bearing strawberries. Last year I bought ever bearing but had to pinch all the flowers off. This time I will get some different types because I honestly feel like once a year in high yield is a lot easier for me to deal with. The other strawberries could be great for my little cousins to snack on when they come to see me. We shall see.

I think tho I have grandkids that like to go out and pick them We've had everbearing and they were just small and and didn't produce much. I think I'll try junebearing this year. Thanks.

I have the same problem my kids like to help pick them and I end up having less to sell at farmer's markets.

Yeah you should have compared June to day neutrals. I thought day neutrals are more popular than “ever bearing” altho the term sometimes is used interchangeably.
And everything I have watched says day neutrals should produce more quantity that June bearing

I thought I bought ever bearing but it seems like I have the June bearing strawberries and I just can’t remember if you are supposed to leave the flower head on when you pick them off the plant.

Common thought process is to let pick flowers off the first year to let them get established then the following year let the go.
I personally like to say if you plant them in the fall let them bear fruit. If you plant them in the spring pick the blossoms so they can get more established. And I personally pick the blossoms off the first year. But I look at it from a commercial point of view. I would rather a lot later then a small and medium amount next year.
when it comes down to it there is no right or wrong way of doing it.

@@dcwatashi Pick flower to help get plant established. Will allow for more strawberries next year as it will be a stronger plant.
Or let blossoms grow and you can get some strawberries this year. with fewer potential strawberries next year as the strawberry plant may be a little less established.
Either way works it comes down to personal preference.

@@ewellacres I should have mentioned I have had this plant for probably six or seven years. So I guess I should take the flower off when I pick the strawberries? I just remember hearing that it keeps the strawberries fresher if you pick them and leave the flowers/leaves on top

@@dcwatashi if the strawberry plant itself is 6 or 7 years old than that strawberry plant is doing great. Most strawberry plants are past their prime production after about 5 years. I would only worry about plucking flowers if it's on its first year. After that enjoy all the wonderful strawberries that plant can give.

Which one is gonna give me more strawberries overall?

On average literature commonly shows june bearing strawberries will produce about 1 pound of strawberries per plant per season.
Everbearing plants typically produce .5 pound to .75 pound per plant per season. This is just an average though and can very greatly based on variety.

And then there is day neutral which is everbearing on steroids

which is why most commercial growers in California and Florida have started to switch over to day neutral
