@@Snackerbater1 I agree that and Bare Necessities which at least got an honorable mention are my favorite Disney songs but then I am maybe a bit older then 40
True, These Disney songs didn't have to go so hard. But the fact that they did is what makes them the epic and iconic classics that we know them as today!
@@chasehedges6775 I know they are, I'm just saying that the fact that they went so hard is one of the many things that played a part in them becoming classics.
Paired with the animation "being a man " becomes "be the best version of you. Persevere and see beyond the obvious" If THATS what it means to be a man, then he certainly did make a man out of her.
"Circle Of Life" is absolutely iconic. As soon as you hear that Zulu opening, you know you're in for a hard hitting song. It's beautiful, perfectly paced, and expertly lays out one of the film's core themes. It's so good, that the entire teaser trailer for _The Lion King_ was just this sequence. To this day, I cannot sing it without tearing up. It's simply perfect.
Well yeah, the first time you see the movie, you are very amazed...The first time I heard the song at the beginning of the movie, the rhythm was magical; the beginning in Zulu, amazing; and as a child I tried to follow the lyrics
The visuals of it all were gorgeous too. I had to laugh when I got older, because I've actually been to those areas from the film. Like the wildebeest stampede canyon was based on Hell's Gate Gorge in Kenya. I recognized it as we walked down and our guide noted it was the same place.
Hellfire was absolutely, without even a doubt, the hardest Disney song ever made. Where the other songs had a sort of magical fantasy to their lyrics, Hellfire decided to go an entirely different direction, and cranked up the dark, twisted mind of Frolo to 15. And you were right, it's something that creeped me out as a kid, but almost 3 decades later, I truly grasp what was going on in that man's mind, and it makes the entire piece like 15x scarier. Still, it's one of the things that make the Hunchback of Notre Dame a chilling masterpiece.
Completely agree. I love that song. I especially like the Swedish version of the song. Frollo was voiced by renowned opera singer Stefan Ljungqvist in the Swedish dubbed version. Unfortunately, he passed away in June this year.
Disney did some hard songs for villains in the 90s. Hellfire is just one example, another would be savages from pocahontas. For some reason they softened it up again...
@@imherzenspandauer6468probably cause the backlash from Savages, like they completely overlooked the whole point of the song and it’s purpose in the film 😑
It BLOWS my mind how "Everybody wants to be a Cat" isn't in the clip. Not even in the mentions. It's soft jazz with a lyrical interlude transitioning into wannabe electro swing more than 20 years before it was even a thing makes it an absolute banger that makes me want to dance the night off to it, to this very day. And I'm 33. A remixed version of it wouldn't sound weird in any club in the world with such a fire tune. I know, I have heard it.
When I started watching this I said to myself that this song must be in the top five... not done yet when I saw your comment. :/ More than one song that was included didn't even come close...
If you like Tarzan, check out the soundtrack for "Brother Bear", which Phil Collins also wrote the entire soundtrack for. Pay close attention to the song "Transformation", sung by the Bulgarian Women's Choir. If you think Circle of Life went hard, Phil Collins went even harder with " Transformation".
I2I and Stand Out from The Goofy Movie are phenomenal songs. And the whole of the Hercules’ soundtrack could go on this list, as Go the Distance is one of the most beautifully composed songs out there. Alan is a genius. I wish Quasimodo’s song Out There was on here too. It gives me chills every time.
I love the songs from Hercules and Hunchback of Notredame. Out There, and God Help the Outcasts are just so beautiful. I actually sang God Help the Outcasts in church, and in one of my College choir concerts.
I love pretty much all of these songs. One that is missing though in the "Didn't Have to Go That Hard" category is the Bells of Notre Dame, which I would put even above Hellfire. When the singer hits that ending note it's just... goosebumps.
the fact that they didn't mention that "I'm Still Here" is sung by the front man of the Goo Goo Dolls .. Disney always had top tier talent working on their soundtracks!!
I love that Colors of the Wind is on here. When she was in her teens, my daughter was in a community choir which did recitals every quarter. The kids did several pieces as a group, just boys, just girls, and each child got to pick a piece to solo on. You can imagine that was a long time of listening to these talented kids sing. My daughter one year was enamored of Pocahontas and chose Colors of the Wind for her solo piece and everyone loved it. I was so proud of her.
33: Colors of the Wind. I find it beautiful since I was a kid. The imagery of the colors in the stunning animation of the majesty of Pocahontas is nostalgia amazing
The fact that they went so hard is one of the reasons Disney is remembered fondly and still talked about today. The fact that these tunes still stand the tests of time proves these numbers are as great as the movies they came from.
Of course yes, it is truly awesome how it starts the movie, it awakes a great emotion in the soul as Circle of Life, with a great message in the lyrics
As amazing and moving as "Circle of Life" is in the movie, it's even more powerful in the Broadway show. I've seen it twice so far and will see it every time it comes to town. From the very moment that Rafiki starts singing, the sun begins to rise, and the first animals start the procession up to the stage, it's impossible not to start crying. It is my favorite show of all time, even beating out Wicked and Hamilton.
But we're not talking about the live shows. They specifically mentioned at the beginning that live action wasn't included. So I think that this picking is biased because in the animated movie alone, "Hakuna Matata" far out "harded" this one
I burst into tears when I saw “Circle of Life” for the first time when it came through on tour. It was overwhelmingly beautiful and perfect. I was 12 when the movie came out and 25 when I saw the show.
20:19 The “Zero to Hero” was always my favourite part In Hercules also I’m not gonna lie but I use to have a crush on the muse with long curly hair “Melpomene” I believe her name is?
"Under the sea", "Be our guest", "Friend like me" , "Circle of life" , "Be prepared"an "We don't talk about Bruno" Were definitely my favorites from this top. Happy sunday Ms Mojo, take care and i hope i see you soon for more like this. God bless you, and greetings from Colombia to you as well..
The fact that little wonders from meet the Robinsons isn't on this list is criminal....rob Thomas really went crazy with that song its so amazing its better than let it go would ever hope to be
31: My mom loves Billy Joel’s songs and I didn’t know what a great voice he did for this song in Oliver & Company. I just love how catchy it is. I remember my mom would always dance to this song
37: My dad loves Under the Sea. It’s a such fun song. Great lyrics, the music and the heart. Samuel E Wright is phenomenal Funny thing, I have a uncle named Sebastian
The Muses from Hercules are absolutely amazing. I wish I knew who each one of them were so I could look them all up to see if they've done anything else.
I was surprised to not see "I wanna be like you" on this list. Louis Prima went bananas (pun intended) in the recording hall, inspiring the animators to go for the famous row formed by king Louie and his monkeys. Also in Encanto I've found "Dos Oruguitas" more impactful. Shook me to the core with the raw emotions conveyed by Yatra in perfect sync with the full display of Abuela Alma's drama. And one last iconic mention : Aristocats' "Everybody wants to be a cat"
"I'm still here" in italy was covered by a most famous italian group (883) and became a staple right away. That group was already shaping a generation of teenagers down here and the song matched perfectly their style, you won't find a 30 year old italian who doesn't adore the song :) If you want another great version, give it a listen, it's called "ci sono anch'io"!
"Hellfire" may be the most chilling song Disney ever put in one of their movies. Vastly underrated. But "Be Prepared" has been in my head a lot since 2016 and in that time is a bit too relevant for my liking.
Don't forget Lebo M, the vocal arranger for The Lion King in your credits. It's the addition of the African choir that make Circle of Life so good. Elton John included his version of the song on the soundtrack, and that really exposes the bones of it. It's...an Elton John song: a good enough pop song, but nothing worth writing home over.
Very good Circle of Life number 1.. Let it go I always sang it as child, well it like me much jaja..Also for me the most went that hard are: Into the Unknow, I'll make a man of you, Friend Like me, Under the Sea, Almost There, That's all I need and Be our Guest
I2I is such a criminally underated theme today. It's that one song that you can't help but sing and dance to. A Goofy Movie was something else back then.
falling line with the woke mob and making MCU and Star Wars movies that are complete disgraces to the reputation and legacy that they built before Disney bought their Intellectual Property owners Marvel and Lucasfilm is an example of Disney disappointing the fanbase. and in my personal opinion the opinion of Disney in regards to Star Wars and all the video games made before they bought Lucasfilm/Lucas Arts doesn't matter in the long run since even if its labeled Legends Star Wars always has, does and always will have an expanded universe with everything that's been made.
@@RevanSecura You do know "woke" is a term designed to divide us, right? Tucker Carlson's lawyer was forced to explain it in court and couldn't. Not that I expect a Trump voter to know that.
"Let it go" at 12? Really? I'm 38 and never seen the movie, but I feel like I haven't been able to escape this song for the last 10 years 😅 Expected that to be in the top 3 honestly
Most of these songs are just awesome. What impressed me personally about "be prepared" is that the singer changes in the middle, if I recall correctly. Jeremy Irons started the song, the first part is him, and when it picks up, Jim Cummings had to continue. As much as I love Irons and his voice, he is perfect, the fact that Cummings managed to do that without many realising is another feat in itself
Kid Danger: *wearing his big trucker pup outfit* "Friends on the other side" and "Colors of the wind" are my favorite songs from Disney. I love love "i won't say that I'm inlove" from Hercules!
@@sweets_Cat88, I love Hercules. The first time I watched it was on a field trip coach bus and when I got to the part where Hades gets smashed in the face, I laughed super hard, so funny, lol, 😂. The animation on the movie is really cool ( actually on all Disney animated movies are awesome). I love Megara, she's so beautiful even when she felt sick on Pegasus. I'm surprised the color green wasn't in her face as she almost threw up. Overall a good movie 😍😂😃🤩❤️.
41: Scar does have evil intentions. I do remember watching this in theaters for it’s re-release in 2011. Looked amazing on the big screen. I was prepared to see it like that
One thing that's kinda cool about Phil Collins in Tarzan, is that he speaks French, Spanish, Italian, and German, and also sung those versions of the soundtrack. I think he did the same for Brother Bear.
Loving the abundance of Disney content recently. Good job narrowing all the bops of Disney soundtracks down to 20. For me, the entire soundtrack of Hercules… The Muses are insane. Also love them in Italian. The first two tracks are faves of mine that nobody but the most Disney fans know. I am just realizing that Hakuba Magata is kind of the savannah remake of Why should I Worry? Lol. As a kid growing up in the Caribbean, I freaked out hearing under the sea. Like is that a steel pan in a Disney track? I break into Make a Man out of you all the time. Like Mulan, I am a girl, but that song always makes me feel invincible as all hell. We don’t talk about Bruno… when Mirabel’s face was worried, but her shoulders could not help but dance… MOOD! I swear I sang Bare Neccessities for yearsssss as a kid. Drove my whole family mad. Lol
Thank you for acknowledging 'You'll Be in My Heart'. It means a lot to me and my family and it's always overlooked and underrated. I love the entire soundtrack.
Ya'll missed a few honorable mentions, "He is not One of us" and "He Lives in You" from the Lion King 2, and "Everybody Wants to be a Cat" from The Aristocats.
I'm gonna nominate Great Spirits from Brother bear, I feel like it should definitely be on this list somewhere. Absolutely wonderful movie, very undated, and its soundtrack is amazing all around.
In Law & Order, there is a few times when Jerry Orbach's character Lennie Briscoe is interrogating suspects, he says "Be our guest". He sang that song in Beauty and the Beast.
I"m surprised they didn't mention that they didn't mention that Jeremy Irons went so hard in "Be Prepared" that he actually broke his voice for a bit, and Jim Cummings had to step in to finish the later part of the song
I'm the person who wrote the lyrics, the melody kind of took care of itself. Thank you for your appreciation and Idina did a wonderful job. The CMA version with Jennifer Nettles is a personal favourite.
40: For The Hunchback of Notre Dame being in the Disney Renaissance, it’s no wonder that it has a epic, powerful and dark villain song. Going in between of himself and lust for Esmeralda, it’s something else. As I remember being a kid, it blew my freaking mind
The song that gets me crying is God Help the Outcasts. The fact that Esmeralda is praying for less fortunate than she is, and she is a Gypsy. Gypsies were (and still are) reviled and treated terribly, and she is praying for others. It really gives me the feels. But, Hellfire blows my mind.
Watching this made me think about how "Friends on the Other Side" is so similar to "Friend Like Me". Not only the subject matter of the songs and the context of magical friends, but even the animation and character movements are similar between Facilier and Genie

falling line with the woke mob and making MCU and Star Wars movies that are complete disgraces to the reputation and legacy that they built before Disney bought their Intellectual Property owners Marvel and Lucasfilm is an example of Disney disappointing the fanbase. and in my personal opinion the opinion of Disney in regards to Star Wars and all the video games made before they bought Lucasfilm/Lucas Arts doesn't matter in the long run since even if its labeled Legends Star Wars always has, does and always will have an expanded universe with everything that's been made.
@@RevanSecura You do know "woke" is a term designed to divide us, right? Tucker Carlson's lawyer was forced to explain it in court and couldn't. Not that I expect a Trump voter to know that.
Except now
42: Be Our Guest is a showstopper in the soundtrack. This is my dad’s favorite Disney song. Even I was amazed as a kid
so many disney songs go to hard but thats why we love em also most of these are Alan Menken compostions no surprise
I was just listening to I2I earlier today, it totally deserves to make this list!
The reason Cummings had to finish the song is because Irons tore his vocal chords and couldn’t finish the song
It changes at "You won't get a sniff without me!" And now because I know it's Jim singing the other half, it's all I can hear
“Shiny” is an awesome one, too. 7:09
They may have not had to go THAT hard but I am so glad they did
Kid Danger: *wearing his big trucker pup outfit* "Friends on the other side" and "Colors of the wind" are my favorite songs from Disney. I love love "i won't say that I'm inlove" from Hercules!
How can Shiny from Moana not make this list, that song went insanely hard.
Probably the same for “ how far I’ll go”
Ikr! In my opinion that was the most badass song in the whole movie! Hopefully there’s a part 2 to this that has Shiny in it.
@@pennmckelvey8730 I’m sure mojo will pull another list for Disney songs
@Yuri Cao the other day I rewatched Hercules .
43: No one can top Robin Williams Friend Like Me. I heart his character and the song is purely entertaining, I just love how it goes big at the end
Well yes, I still try to learn the lyrics jaja, because it has an almost fast rhythm sang by Robin Williams, he did a great job!
Still hurts that he’s gone
I love this song!
I agree. I feel it should have been higher or number 1. Its that good and its done by good ol Robin.
48: I love You’ll Be In My Heart so much. Phil Collins touched my heart ever since
41: Scar does have evil intentions.
Tarzan's entire soundtrack went hard!
Ya'll missed a few honorable mentions, "He is not One of us" and "He Lives in You" from the Lion King 2, and "Everybody Wants to be a Cat" from The Aristocats.
Lion King 2 is criminally underrated.
I love the honorable mentions of Disney songs that didn't have to go THAT hard.
I'm gonna nominate Great Spirits from Brother bear, I feel like it should definitely be on this list somewhere. Absolutely wonderful movie, very undated, and its soundtrack is amazing all around.
I loveee that song ❤❤
In Law & Order, there is a few times when Jerry Orbach's character Lennie Briscoe is interrogating suspects, he says "Be our guest". He sang that song in Beauty and the Beast.
I"m surprised they didn't mention that they didn't mention that Jeremy Irons went so hard in "Be Prepared" that he actually broke his voice for a bit, and Jim Cummings had to step in to finish the later part of the song
38: Idina Menzel in a Disney movie literally makes the movie the Queen of Disney. Let It Go is magically wow, even in the musical
Let it go for me was magical in the movie.. Surely is double magic in the musical.. I would to have to see it (:
I'm the person who wrote the lyrics, the melody kind of took care of itself. Thank you for your appreciation and Idina did a wonderful job. The CMA version with Jennifer Nettles is a personal favourite.
Although Tarzan’s soundtrack is straight fire son of man deserved an honorable mention
Colors of the wind only 17? lol that's my favorite Disney song of all time !
THIS is a good full length video. WELL DONE!!!
10:20 This one triggered my KH2 flashbacks.
only #12?!? This song was absolutely everywhere forever for the longest time. This song should be on the top 5.
It fails in comparison to Be prepared, hellfire, poor unfortunate souls etc. Its not good and rather forgetful.
I cannot believe Hawaiian rollercoaster is not on this list!!
right!!!
I now need a playlist of all these songs!
Saw I2I, smash the like button, best disney song ever
36: Since I saw this movie in theaters of 2009, I was wowed by this villain’s number. Friends On The Other Side is dark, fun and jazzy
I agree with people who mentioned.
"Everybody wants to be a cat" shoukd be on there. Personally "Never smile at a crocodile" is also another song.
This list is full of bangers and was impossible to not sing a along when you heard them come on. Theyre so iconic.
I love the end of "Your welcome" when Maui traps Moana in that cave and says "And thank you!" It always makes me laugh idkw😂😂😂😂😂
Watching this made me think about how "Friends on the Other Side" is so similar to "Friend Like Me". Not only the subject matter of the songs and the context of magical friends, but even the animation and character movements are similar between Facilier and Genie
