He was my doctor! Great man! Long hair, old blue jeans, old cowboy hat, big belt buckle, and a dress shirt, is what he wore, when he wasn't in scrubs! And, a big bushy mustache! Sad to hear of his passing!
Dad is a doctor and at 86 is still practicing. He always told me to take some journalism course when I was studying Aerospace Engineering because of guys like Dr. Red Duke. I always enjoyed the segments Dr. Red Duke would do and of course his tag at the end. In a roundabout way, I could consider him an influence on what I do in media.
My father was a friend and classmate of Dr Duke at Texas A&M. Red was a Texan and personified what it means to be cool. It wasn't an act. He wasn't trying to be. He just was.
Being from Texas, I can appreciate a good accent. If you met him in a store, you might have thought he was a just a dumb hick. What a gracious and kind man he was. Loved his segments on the Houston news JOKING- As a young boy, I loved him until he said we need to eat more cabbage... I still loved him but was thinking about the need to "silence him" in regards to eating veggies!! Im Doctor Sabre Cat from the University of Texas Medical Center
Oh my ….today he would be up on charges for offending someone with his humor in todays cancel culture cesspool. Bless you sir . We really need you so much today .
