Which Tax Payers are Footing the Bill ??
Bet its the Poor People who could Never Afford a House ( Let alone a Beach House ) Make the Rich Costal Property Owners pay for it they own Dam Self...
Why is the city paying to protect the coastal homes? The home owners should pay for it.
Waste of money. The ocean will win in the end.
so..... they spent the tax payer's money so some ppl can retain their property value...
Taxpayer money well spent to appease the 1%
Everyone pays for some people to have a beach, and then everyone pays again for the few to live life on the beach.
Every freakin thing is more expen$ive!!!
Hell-oooo!!!
Remove the dams holding back sediment and the beaches will be replenished naturally.
The park of Ocean Beach which was at the top of this discussion had not been maintained for decades. SF had allowed it's now dilapidated out of shear neglect blaming climate change which may have been a small factor, but more of city ineptitude towards basic maintenance. It's no different than the horrible roads all over the place, trash all the street in downtown, they just don't want to spend the money where it's not profitable for local vendors. It would rather spend billions of dollars on short distance underground subways or raise the ferry building so that back door contract deals could be made at the cost of city taxpayers. So instead of erecting a barrier and sea wall for that section which would be a permanent fix, the city would rather save the money for their own special projects so that insiders can keep milking the city as much as they can.
$10.5 billion over the last century is way less I thought.
At some point, don't you have to leave it up to those who use the beach? Like, carry it yourself?
Why does traffic diversion have anything to do with it (SF beach).
Of course it costs more. The homeowners are just gifting other taxpayers.
They have to save those beach houses because the people then would be homeless looking for some housing from government.
We ALL do NOT pay for it. Rich people do not pay for it.
Total waste of money
And why would the politicians worry about the cost
It's not there money, it's ours
Mostly taxes from people who have nothing to do with the costal home.
The only thing rising is our taxes. Keep voting democrat CA!
Look at ( #3:10 ) it’s mostly East Coast Crap .... ( Just like the Rest of the MAGAs ) don’t know they as from they elbow ....
Who do you think supports these projects? The rich vote republican, so guess who does their bidding? Republicans.
The first story is about Wrightsville Beach. What does that have to do with California?
If you can’t afford Ca.. move to NJ...
