- Our framers are building the roof structures over the porches on our Legacy Block ICF House. This requires them to build beams from LVLs (Laminated Veneer Lumber) to support the outside edge of the roof and cut all of the rafters/joists.

Your framing crew is doing a great job Tony. All of that geometry required to figure each pitch is the reason I'm not a framer.
We've been impressed by the product they're turning out - plumb, square and on plane. I never had an interest in wood framing since I came up working in steel but I can definitely see the utility of the skillset. It's funny you mention Geometry since I've thought many times about how much I hated that class and it's some of the knowledge I use almost daily. Sentence diagramming, not so much...
@@ozarksethic I noticed a framing square being used. Lots of guys don't take that attention to detail approach any more. If it wasn't for the girl sitting next to me in geometry class in the 9th grade I doubt I would have passed!
Man, looking like a nice home now, Tony. It was strange to my ears to hear someone in Arkansas talking about snow loads. Yes, I know it snows there, it was just an attention getter. 🙂
Thanks, Rick. Hopefully we'll be in the dry pretty soon.
We get snow but usually the problem is ice and snow. My Dad had a quonset hut shop building that ice/snow/ice/snow folded up like an empty beer can. That same storm collapsed the porch on our last house.
@@ozarksethic Yikes! I hate ice. Fortunately we rarely get it.
