Well guys. I’m from the U.K., I’m 60 years old and I’ve just sat and watched this 2.5hr building marathon and couldn’t stop watching. You both should be extremely proud of what you’ve achieved here. Even your parents and families should be proud too. Nobody since a long era ago have built houses with hand tools. I admire you both for your stamina and the duration this build must have taken. Give yourselves a big pat on the back. I look forward to seeing the day you hear the laughter of children too, enjoying the fruits of your hard labour. Well done again guys

My wife and I watch this together I've watched it twice now. I worked construction most of my life mostly as a roofer. But I have framed Carried hod, laid brick poured foundations, done a little bit of everything. I am really really impressed with the job you guys did as a team together. You did it the old school way. I am 55 and I remember having to hand nail no pneumatic nailers. But you guys did it the way the Pioneers would have done it. Your craftsmanship, your teamwork, your attention to detail, your creativity, etc, etc, etc, is incredible. It is such a blessing that you have documented this and shared it with your UA-cam audience as well as family and friends. It is truly inspiring!
What fantastic work, what rapport between you, the richness of detail and the care with which you did everything is very impressive, congratulations, it was an honor to watch every minute of this work of art. Congratulations to you both. Thanks for sharing. May God bless you greatly.
I am 54 years old and been in the residential home building and repair for a long time. I respect this build cuz of choice not to use power tools. I don't know what experience you have but you have the smarts and more importantly the will it takes. The roof rafters will wick water through the wood. I hope you cover the cut ends with a good high quality finish since the roof decking and metal do not extend past the cut ends. I'm not trying to pick apart your build just want it to last a long time cuz you put alot into it. The dwelling will be a part of you I hope for life. I applaud the choice of tools especially in a day and age where people like to take short cuts and use power tools .I am sure you will know your home like he back of your hand. Good job. I commented to soon. I see the gutters now.
Very nice precision work with only basic hand tools. And I must say that the gal could outwork most men. This is just outstanding work from both of you. I am a 25 year carpenter and I’ve seen a lot of people who could not build this cabin ,this nice with power tools. Kudos to you both!
The story of a Canadian couple building their dream home with hand tools is incredibly inspiring. It represents a return to craftsmanship and a connection with nature. The fact that it's a tiny log cabin in the forest adds a touch of rustic charm and a deep appreciation for sustainable living. This video is likely to captivate viewers who are interested in off-grid living, minimalism, and the idea of creating a dream home through hard work and dedication.
I agree with everything said here. I am so amaised with the idea, the work and skill here and I so wish I did something like this when I was younger. I am 75 years old and live in Johannesburg, South Africa. Well done guys.
I also believe you two have cemented a bond between you that will last forever. I could not help thinking as I watched what a wonderful experience two young people could have together, to build the house together they will raise their family in and share their love for a life time. It is truly amazing and wonderful. Congratulations to you both.
Nick & Maela, I have to say I have watched a lot of off-grid cabin builds to get ideas for my build and I have to say this is by far one of the best videos I have seen to date! I found it interesting using an interlocking post and beam style build and with basic hand tools! There are also a lot of couples out there doing these types of builds and you two really grabbed my attention! I don't care where in the world you are, but if we had more young couples like you two supporting each other to build something you both can be proud of and cherish for decades to come, this world would be a better place! I say that sincerely! The teamwork is beyond words and super proud of you two on that fact alone! I'm older and in my mid-50s in Central Ohio USA, and recovering from reconstructive knee surgery so I plan on using modern tools and equipment to assist me, but I have found your videos very insightful with a lot of techniques I plan on incorporating. Thank you for sharing! I'm going to get a small portable sawmill to mill 8 x 8 square posts and 6 x 6, and 4 x 4 posts for the rest and do my joints the same way you two did! Great craftsmanship in my view! You two really did a super fantastic job not just with your cabin build but with your video and editing! Major kudos for being inspiring on many fronts and I wish you two much love, happiness, and good health for decades to come! I look forward to watching more of your awesome videos!
These two craftsmen have done a job second to none…some of the nicest and most precise building of a log cabin I’ve ever seen. The dedication alone it must have taken is amazing…..I’m just totally in awe of what they’ve done…👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
You both for sure are soulmates, having persevered together the build of this scale. To top it off with just a few hand tools. You both are such an inspiration to many young talented people. God bless your marriage forever and ever!
Wild guys, have made my evening. To see two people working together that's in my mind we'll stay together I'm the one that's blessed today by seeing you guys do this. I realize this is a little later and I hope that the cabin and you both are doing well. I want to tell you one of my favorite clips is when you are using the drone to take an overhead view of the top of the cabin and your girl is still on the roof. But as you go higher and higher you get a panoramic view of the beautiful colors surrounding your place by the fall leaves. GOD BLESS BOTH OF YOU.
my father told me "anything worth doing is a labor of love." I say today at fifty four years old, nothing worth doing is easy. I like seeing your cuts evolve as you go. great job you two.
You should be very proud of yourselves and what you've accomplished. If your relationship survived this build then it should survive just about anything. Looking forward to future projects on the property.

Yes totally with them only using hand tools and not electric tools amazing craftsmanship that both of them are doing because people this age would not be doing this kind of work today and most people this age wouldn't be thing or doing this themselves they would pay someone else to do it for them these two here have amazing work ethic that most people doesn't have these days.
Thank you for not being greedy and charging people money to leave a comment. These greedy people say leave a comment. Sure for money. Greed. I won' watch them anymore. I'm sure many people feel this way. Your great workers and deserve a standing ovation. Best to you in your life ahead

I'm from Brazil and I'm delighted with this wooden construction! I was watching the entire video and delighted with the willingness and skills to build this house! 👏👏👏👏
l agree with William, this is truly awesome work, being a retired Carpenter and Joiner for most of my working life,l retired many years ago,l' 79 and to see a young couple do something like this most encouraging. Good luck to them for the future.
To the man in this video, great job! That being said, to the woman, you are an absolute SOLDIER! Both did a great job. Working together through the cold and doing what most consider to be hard work. This couple will make it through anything. Home is paid for and this video will bring in money from now on. Great job.
I don't know what I would do without my table saw and chop saw, battery powered hand tools and so forth, more power to them creating a beautiful home by hand !
I think it shouldn't be hard really. I think nails are used most of the time for wood-based building. You don't need powered tools for that. But the rest yeah, impressive.
This woman sure can swing a hammer. You two are such a hard working team, I do not know if people understand the incredible amount of work it is! I counted 2 1/2 years by the seasons. BRAVO !
I'm 65 and live in Montana USA. My husband and I did many building projects in our 20 years together, but never anything so grand as this! You two did an amazing job!! And sir, you are blessed to have a wife capable of dealing with heights. I could go up maybe ten feet on a ladder and that was about it. She is to be commended! Congratulations on a job very well done and may you enjoy your home for many decades to come!❤
I helped my dad, cousins, and uncle build a cabin from scratch. We used power tools! I couldnt stop watching the video. You two are hard workers. Enjoy this piece of heaven on earth. You deserve it.🎉🎉
Building a dream home in the forest using only hand tools is an incredible undertaking that requires determination, skill, and a deep connection with nature. For a Canadian couple to achieve this feat, especially in constructing a tiny log cabin, reflects not only their commitment to simplicity and sustainability but also their ability to work together harmoniously in the face of challenges.
Fantastic build. I am in my late 60es and used a lot of those hand tools with my dad when i was young. As time progressed, he got power tools, but I still enjoyed working with some of those hand tools even into my later years. Really nice job. Take care all.
I am absolutely amazed with the workmanship you two put in the construction of that beautiful cabin, and with just hand tools, if I didn't actually see the hard work you guys put in, I wouldn't believe it, you have a forever follower👏👏👏👏
The dedication and commitment of these two is incredible. They were made for each other and they compliment each other. There is hardly any talking on these video because I think they read each other's thoughts they are so connected. Great ideas and beautiful house. May God bless your lives and your future family
Looks GREAT. Hard enough just to build a cabin. But to do it with hand tools only ! And to have a wife that is willing to get her hands dirty & help. You both should be very proud.
Absolutely amazing! I love how you keep each step in the process simple, and you don't over-complicate anything. Makes me think I could do something like this. You both have much to be proud of.
You guys did an amazing job with that cabin build, very impressive. But what was even more impressive was the fact that you used only hand tools. Excited to see how you will setup the inside.
I watched every second of this and I want to say you both are fantastic. The skills you show are amazing and your finish is something I wish I had. Best two hours on UA-cam in a very long time.
I give you two much respect for the hard work and dedication you put into this house! In today's modern technological society everyone has become lazy and forgotten what hard work is! Thank you for sharing your hard work and determination to accomplish such a beautiful home and using only hand tools! Much respect to the both of you and many happy and joyous years in this awesome house!
Congrats on realizing your dream home! As a California-based junk removal business owner, I can't imagine how challenging it must be to construct a house off the grid. I watched your entire video documenting the building process, and it's truly impressive how you, as a couple, built this beautiful house. Your accomplishment is extraordinary, especially considering such projects typically involve a larger crew. Kudos to both of you for making my day with your remarkable achievement. Cheers!
HGTV can’t complete with how satisfying watching you build this beautiful cabin! All while watching I was saying to myself, I wonder how much they would charge to make me a log cabin🤣. Your attention to detail did not go unnoticed! You should be proud of yourselves. Well done!
This is beyond amazing. I have not seen anyone else on UA-cam use hand tools the way you guys have, to build an entire log cabin; and the cabin looks amazing! This is a huge dream of ours, to be able to build a log cabin like this with hand tools one day.
My husband and I cannot even put a shelf together without eyerolling (affectionately) and thinking each one knows best 😂 So for the two of you to work so harmoniously and cohesively on this huuuge project is nothing short of a marriage miracle. Well done you two ❤🎉
I’ve noticed not only are you both hard working .. but the health benefits .. you not only built a log cabin but you guys put on some muscle mass .. what a transformation .😊
I am so impressed with the craftsmanship and dedication you two put into this build! The way you work so well together toward a common goal is so encouraging. God has truly blessed you. Please keep posting more content of the other projects around this cabin. I appreciate the authentic sounds of the forest and of the work...no music! And your camera work while you're working is spectacular! Nice job and thanks for the videos!!!
I have no idea how I received this video as a recommendation but I'm glad I did, that just blew my mind guys! The precision and the work you put into that was just incredible, I am in awe of what you guys achieved using just handtools👌
My dad and I stumbled onto this video while visiting him. We have been watching for 4 nights and are absolutely amazed at the precision this wonderful couple achieves. The tongue and groove is so perfect as well as everything you both do. Such a wonderful positive story everyone needs to watch.
Gonna be honest.... I judged books by covers when I started on this video. You both look so young and inexperienced and WOW, did you prove my assumptions wrong (at least the inexperienced part)! You are not builders, you are craftsmen. The patience, skill and perseverance to complete this incredible build is off the charts. I learned several techniques watching this that I will apply. Congrats on building your dream home guys!
For 2 days it's been raining in Florida. For 2 days I've been watching you build a cabin. You work together so well and you're really good carpenters and Craftsman. Great job!
OMG, I couldn't stop watching! Where did you learn all of these skills? You both are so young, talented and work together perfectly! I was totally gob smacked. And I noticed you didn't use any electric or battery operated tools. Wow, you should teach your craftsmanship to others. Totally amazing. Whoever shot your videos is top of the line! I seriously enjoyed every second and will watch every video you make. So impressed, outstanding job you two!!!!
To @debprather4241. You can't teach what these guys have. They are borne engineers. They are borne with this ability to instantly see the problem in its entirety and somehow produce the optimum result. Its a gift like art and music. So gratifying to see them working in such harmony where, to a great extent, speech is superfluous. I am an engineer, all my forebears have been, and so are my kids and grandkids, it's in their genes. Love the fact they use hand tools and make it look so easy. There is a great deal of native skill being demonstrated here. Again their single minded "push on with it" approach comes through. If you know what to look for, there is an amazing amount to see in this video. I am an 82 yo Brit still very fitt and functional. Thanks guys an inspiration. I shall " Keep buggering on" as Winney (Churchill) was wont to say. So I can remain active for many more years. Oh if you get a bit stuck on an item. LET FORM FOLLOW FUNCTION. it usually points in the right direction

It is so unusual to see young people like you who are so industrious, hard working, and talented. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished.
Thought I’m going to watch for 5 minutes but ended up watching the entire show. This video showcase the skill & knowledge, team work & dedication. Every detail was so meticulously done and i was amazed seeing the final product. I was hoping to see how the cabin was furnished but it wasn’t shown.
Nick, If you had a crew of 25 men, how long would it take to build this? Canada has more land and timber than any nation and a housing shortage. You can have a business by teaching your methods to others!! You are an inspiration !!
I am in AWE of you guys ! Thank you so much ! You will never forget or regret this experience . You just must have to smile and think back on the build every time you come home !
Very interesting house construction. You are a great team! The only thing that surprised me was that there are gaps between the logs. We (in Russia) usually make grooves along the log. And they lay insulation between them.
Merci a vous deux pour nous avoir partagé votre beau projet . Votre mini maison est splendide. Félicitations !!! J'ai deja hate de voir vos futurs projets 😊

They are so skilled. They make it look easy😊
Great teamwork.
ts even better t watch em run with the next forest fire!
@@eezeedoesit I hope that never happens
Your craftsmanship, your teamwork, your attention to detail, your creativity, etc, etc, etc, is incredible. It is such a blessing that you have documented this and shared it with your UA-cam audience as well as family and friends. It is truly inspiring!
What fantastic work, what rapport between you, the richness of detail and the care with which you did everything is very impressive, congratulations, it was an honor to watch every minute of this work of art. Congratulations to you both. Thanks for sharing.
May God bless you greatly.
They are both very skilled....I was truly in awe....very, very impressed
Looks like clay basted capping on the end grain of the logs - should be effective in deterring checking and wicking.
Nothing brings people together like teamwork. Very nice.
As a Canadian for 83 years I have to say you two are a fine example of the pioneer spirit. Congrats cmacshack
Very nice precision work with only basic hand tools. And I must say that the gal could outwork most men. This is just outstanding work from both of you. I am a 25 year carpenter and I’ve seen a lot of people who could not build this cabin ,this nice with power tools. Kudos to you both!
😀😄😁
The story of a Canadian couple building their dream home with hand tools is incredibly inspiring. It represents a return to craftsmanship and a connection with nature. The fact that it's a tiny log cabin in the forest adds a touch of rustic charm and a deep appreciation for sustainable living. This video is likely to captivate viewers who are interested in off-grid living, minimalism, and the idea of creating a dream home through hard work and dedication.
Tiny?😊😅aren't they mesmerizing to watch🎉❤

@user-kj4gu5xx3b they cut the trees on private land. On crown land there are permits you need to cut trees.
By the way, I am 76 and from Washington State USA. 😊😊😊❤

Agreed!😊 Nicka & Maela! 🌻What type of wood? Fir? , it works easier than oaks Im planning to build with in GA. ..🌅
loop😊
GOD BLESS BOTH OF YOU.
my father told me
"anything worth doing is a labor of love."
I say today at fifty four years old,
nothing worth doing is easy.
I like seeing your cuts evolve as you go. great job you two.
You should be very proud of yourselves and what you've accomplished. If your relationship survived this build then it should survive just about anything. Looking forward to future projects on the property.
We do believe you are right!!
Thank you so much :)
Amen!💪⚖️☝️☯️🔨☀️☸️📐🌎🕊🌲🇨🇦🌟💫
😮😮😮
@Is Maela ambidextrous? If so. Does she struggle with left and right?
Nice job
Thank you for not being greedy and charging people money to leave a comment. These greedy people say leave a comment. Sure for money. Greed. I won' watch them anymore. I'm sure many people feel this way. Your great workers and deserve a standing ovation. Best to you in your life ahead
You both look so young, yet you built an awesome house together. The young lady is such a good partner. You both deserve accolades, well, well done.
As I discovered your videos more than half way through your build I have not had the time to go back and view them all from the beginning. This look back at the entire build was perfect and I’m even more impressed with you both. Thank you.
That’s exactly why we made that video ahah glad it could bring you back to the beginnings :)
Way to Go! It's so comforting to know there are younger people out there that get it. Thank you
I'm from Brazil and I'm delighted with this wooden construction! I was watching the entire video and delighted with the willingness and skills to build this house! 👏👏👏👏
Também fiquei maravilhada com essa construção, até dá vontade de fazer uma ❤

@@alcimaraneuzaperin9063 realmente da vontade mesmo de fazer uma 🤭
I am 82, designed and built my own home, ( traditional.) and have to say you two impressed me to no end. Great skill and innovation.
I need to raise my hut, two master builders at work.... Great performance, Congratulations!!!
l agree with William, this is truly awesome work, being a retired Carpenter and Joiner for most of my working life,l retired many years ago,l' 79 and to see a young couple do something like this most encouraging.
I loved this! I’m an old wood shop guy and the whole process was captivating! My wife was equally impressed how both of you worked so well together!
You two are unbelievable building your log cabin all by yourselves ,wishing you the best and happiness all the days of your lives
It is SOOO satisfying when logs drop onto the one below, matching the curve so well. Nice job, you two!
This woman sure can swing a hammer. You two are such a hard working team, I do not know if people understand the incredible amount of work it is! I counted 2 1/2 years by the seasons.
BRAVO !
You two are absolutely incredible!!!!! I am amazed!!!!!
Congratulations on a job very well done and may you enjoy your home for many decades to come!❤
What an awesome job! It's so good to see a married couple working together as a team to make a dream come true!! Keep it up!!!!
수천년 전 한국인들은 못 하나 없이 튼튼한 한옥을 지었고
온돌이라는 위대한 발명품 덕분에 집 안에서 맨발로 생활했었죠 :)
What you have accomplished without using any power tools is awesome. And to find a woman this day in time to help in the way she has is unbelievable.
The dedication and commitment of these two is incredible. They were made for each other and they compliment each other. There is hardly any talking on these video because I think they read each other's thoughts they are so connected. Great ideas and beautiful house. May God bless your lives and your future family
With hand tools, WOAH, I am going to sitdown and watch every second of this like an epic movie later on today!
Outstanding work! It is such a delight to see more and more people these days taking the road less traveled, going off-grid and being self-reliant.
i couldnt stop watching , it was so envigorating to watch a young couple do such a magnificent job well done to you both have a great life
Old school build by young adults. Very impressed. This is how kids used to be and should still be.
I love how you guys were both hanging on that one side of the door you were putting in to get it to fit
Haha that's one of our favourite moments too
And the wee giggles with it 😂😂
I watched every second of this and I want to say you both are fantastic.
I don’t know if you guys are crazy…..I’m speechless, jesus!!!! What an amazing journey you guys did!!!!!
Cheers!
An dnd with excellent precision fits and great waterproofing construction techniques'.
HGTV can’t complete with how satisfying watching you build this beautiful cabin! All while watching I was saying to myself, I wonder how much they would charge to make me a log cabin🤣. Your attention to detail did not go unnoticed! You should be proud of yourselves. Well done!
Wow, thank you! Glad we're entertaining :)
This is beyond amazing. I have not seen anyone else on UA-cam use hand tools the way you guys have, to build an entire log cabin; and the cabin looks amazing! This is a huge dream of ours, to be able to build a log cabin like this with hand tools one day.
Ни
Thanks!! It's lots of tough work, but so much fun and very rewarding!
Better do it while you're young and fit. Later won't work as readily!
Glad to see young family do it together. God bless you kids 🥰😊
Hi
... Voila ! ... the very BEST ! .. DIY team-work .. I've seen on UA-cam so far !!! ... just SUPER !!! ...
Same here. I'm still learning lol maybe someday I'll be able to do that. Very impressive
For 2 days it's been raining in Florida. For 2 days I've been watching you build a cabin. You work together so well and you're really good carpenters and Craftsman. Great job!
it was so envigorating to watch a young couple do such a magnificent job well done to you both have a great life
My respect and best wishes for you both. You are a real team and authentic heroes.
A lot of love and hard work ... Absolutely brilliant may you spend many happy years enjoying the fruits of your labor.
Guys, this has to be the best vid on UA-cam at the moment.
It has everything. Vision, Hard graft. Skill. Inventivness. Attention to detail. Everything. What a project to embark upon!! And what a finished result!!
I've got nothing but admiration for you both. Fantastic job. Very well done.

That's the most beautiful ,custom hand built cabin I've ever seen. I'm amazed the amount of work you both put in to this build, absolutely amazing, ,great job
I am very impressed with the craftsmanship you two have in the building of your cabin, especially the young woman. You both should be celebrated for your endurance and fortitude! Good Job, Well Done!.

well, I am just stunned! My fellow Canadians! In awe! Much Blessings to you!
It is so unusual to see young people like you who are so industrious, hard working, and talented. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished.
Okay boomer
Wow!
That is a beautiful dream house!
You guys did such a wonderful work! Congratulations!!! ❤️
I don’t think I’ve ever sat through a UA-cam video without skipping through, Thank you for making this an entertaining video.
Are you jok? What about Russia. Go to Siberia.
Here everyone is given a hectare of land and a forest
I am in AWE of you guys ! Thank you so much ! You will never forget or regret this experience . You just must have to smile and think back on the build every time you come home !
Very interesting house construction. You are a great team! The only thing that surprised me was that there are gaps between the logs. We (in Russia) usually make grooves along the log. And they lay insulation between them.
That's got to be for a good reason because they are to good of builders to not know what they are doing!!!
Good to see some young adults doing hard work. God bless you both.
It's close to a lake, how beautiful this place is!
This is amazing in so many ways. I thought I was doing a lot renovating my condo by myself, but this is next level. You guys are very inspiring.
Merci a vous deux pour nous avoir partagé votre beau projet . Votre mini maison est splendide. Félicitations !!! J'ai deja hate de voir vos futurs projets 😊
Merci, Jojo 💛
I've actually watched this a couple of times and I'm still in awe at the precision of the build even with hand tools. I don't know if either of you have a background in home design or building but this was very well done. And you sir have a wife worth her weight in gold to take on this venture with you. I was captivated at every moment of this build. Congratulations on your accomplishment.🎉🎉🎉
Why compliment him about her instead of complimenting her?
@@theUcane That was a compliment to both of them for they're hard work. I don't discriminate and leave someone out because of their sex.
What a team! Just found this vid and had to stop at approx 20 minutes in to comment. Nick your faith in Maela to hold the spike while she hammers it in with a sledge hammer is awesome! There are very few people with that kind of confidence in folks.
You two are amazing
Great work!🎉 You two should feel so accomplished and proud. Loved the fact that there was no unnecessary music playing and you guys weren't talking...watched the entire vlog. Somewhat similar to ASMR...😂 lovely seasonal scenery too.
I am so impressed of you❤. What a wonderful house . Thank you so much for your video. You warmed my heart ♥️. From Sweden 🇸🇪
Y’all are both incredible people and I loved watching the build. Very nicely done!
Была не сборка, а строительство.
A labour of love. Your "tiny" cabin is bigger than my house! Beautiful work, looks so fulfilling. Well done.😍
A house doesn‘t have to be big for being a nice home
