Thank you Bo. Your presentation on this Vietnam Era Music theme was perfect. A few surprises. The Yardbirds boot with the one and only James Patrick Page on the cover. Although. There are a few Yardbirds boots with Jimmy on the cover and he did not play with them at the time of the recording. Pet Sounds. One of my top ten albums of all time. I think you were thinking of Sean Penn when showing the Chambers Bros album. I don't think I have ever seen a copy of Aftermath without ringwear. Kind of like Springsteen's "Wild, the Innocent, E Street" and Zappa's "Apostrophe". Anyways. This was great. A perfect introduction to any new and longtime collector who wants to know the albums/music that was prominent in the late sixties/early seventies Vietnam era~

@@Paneeks1960 Sean Penn. To my chagrin, yes it was. John Leguizamo and John C Reilly were also in it. Yes, Jimmy page didn’t play on shapes of things. It was Jeff beck. But it was apparently a single only in the US .

The 60s was my favourite decade musically Bo... At my age I'm quite familiar with it.... Simpler times, people were nicer more polite. A lot of changes happened in the 60s. My fav thing about the 60s was mini-skirts. I miss hula hoops, bolo bats and yo-yo's..... The world got real crazy after the 60s. The Stones and The Animals were big with the VN Vets. Big with me too...

I like catching WWII films and 'Nam movies...and especially when they pull a song on top of scenes.
I always thought "Yellow River" (Christie) was a great banger for soldiers leaving the jungle or elsewhere.
"So long, boy, you can take my place
I got my papers, I got my pay.
So pack my bags and I'll be on my way..."
I think of Sheen just arriving in Platoon..."how many days ya got left."
I didn't know Last Train To Clarksville was a real place. Never a big fan. But your take on the song gives a whole new meaning with fresh ears.
A girl I was dating once asked me what the first names of the Chambers Brothers were. I asked her why she wanted to know and she was just curious if any were named Casey. I told her I didn't have the album in front of me...but I was pretty sure that would be a no. Never cared for the album much, but "Time Has Come Today" is so iconic for War and social issues. More cowbell, please!
I guess because of radio over-play, CCR songs have become channel-turning time for me, but for the longer, jammier songs like "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" "Ramble Tamble" and "Susie Q" for sure. I do like the other stuff...though.
"Sky Pilot" is pretty great! Never considered it for a soldier priest. Pretty cool
I picked up that very Bob Seger album several years ago, a record club copy, when you held it up on one of your early posts. It was the first time I heard "Two Plus Two" !
Anyway...take care out there and stay safe.

I think how I got into the music is that I didn't care much about 80s music, but The Big Chill was a big deal when that came out, VH1 started playing old videos, Animal House and Blues Brothers was another big influence, and the CDs that started to come out that I could afford were the reissues (Compact Disc, Compact Price), so that got me into the 60s music. Then, everyone started listening at the end of the 80s it seems (the cycle of every 20 years people get nostalgic). Same time, renting VHS tapes, we would hit the 70s movies because they were so gritty and lots of the music there as well. Paint it Black was also used on the end credits of Full Metal Jacket.

Hello 🏒Bo; Like you're interpretive explanation of the Vietnam era's music. Groups & artists CCR, Dylan, The Doors, Hendrix, Phil Ochs, Eric Burden, Country Joe, Rolling Stones, The Temptations, Marvin, Edwin Starr. Actor of thought Sean Penn. Valley Of Hate, early Vietnam song. Good video. Take care, Tina & Pat!~
