It's actually pretty doable, the support bar definitely makes it easier for hitting notes accurately though. There are one or two players that exclusively play without using the support bar and are still extremely good at the game, so it's definitely possible!

It's just sound effects that were added to the game. DDR has not been filmed in front of a live studio audience, we just use clap and cheer tracks :^)
