    Should mention making sure the board's waist width is wide enough for your boot. See a bunch of people with large feet on boards with waists that have got to be under 255mm. Toes digging in the moment they lean forward. Its painful to watch.
    If you have a US boot size between 10.5 and 11.5 seriously consider asking for a wider board or find out the waist width of the rental. Look for between 255mm (if 10.5) and 258mm (if 11.5)
    If its 12+, get a wider board without hesitating.

    Guys don't always go with the technique of sliding on a surface and facing that way as a way to tell if you are goofy or regular, i slide with my right foot forward and I ride regular. One technique I find consistent is to get on a skateboard (yours or your friends wherever you can find one) and ride for a bit, which every way feels more comfortable ride that way.

    Thanks Kevin! Very cool tips!
    One other thing I had problems on a certain board was that the tip of my boots were way too out of the board, so I fell on every toe side turn. Then I changed to a larger board and it got much better. :)

    Love the videos Kevin keep them coming! Super excited for this season, finally got my own board and kinda starting to upload a little bit on my channel as best as I can. Hopefully be able to make some videos. You might have done this already I think you did a gopro tips one but you could make an updated like tips for filming on the mountain. Any other things you've picked up since that video? You're kind of the one that really got me into snowboarding. After I went to my first park it was one of the best things I've ever done so I got home and watched hours and hours of your videos. Sorry that was a lot but keep it up!! 🏂

    I've heard getting a couple of good boots that fit you is the most important thing as it is the link to your board. Used a couple head single-boas last year and they made me depressed. The rental kind, just no heel hold and had to tighten them so much my feet hurt.

  • @FireRowz

    I wish I knew these things when I first started. I rented a board as part of a beginner 3 lesson package. They gave me a 138 kids board which follows the height rule but wasn't meant for someone my weight (I'm short and heavier built). They set it up with 4, -4 angles which I think held me back the most. When I would bend my knees they would turn inward, which made it hard to balance and turn. Binding angles are definitely important.

    Hi Kevin! I totally love all your videos! The beginner videos helped me learn how to snowboard for the first time! Awsome!
    I'm going to Val Thorens i France in week 2 and it's my 3./4. time snowboarding. I'm renting a board, at the resort and this year i would like to get my switch riding going. I just wonder if i sould have my stance/bindings set so it's the same when you'r riding regular and switch (like 15-15 degrees and and a totally centered stance?)? :)

    FOR BEGINNER RIDES. I learned the hard way. With your high backs make sure they're not on 0. It's a little bit more uncomfortable but it You'll be a lot more effective on your heel edge. I had mine on 0 and was on my heel edge going around 30mph, because i couldn't carve out of the way quick enough I hit an ice boulder and snapped my Tibia and Fibula. I now can't walk for 2.5 months without crutches and won't be able to board for 6 months. Don't make the same mistake I did.

      I'm going to have to call bullshit on the 30 mph. It may have seemed like such a speed, but 30 mph is a nice speed when you are cruising down intermediate/advanced slopes.
      If you can get me video evidence of you doing 30mph on your heel edge, I'll swallow my words. sorry to hear you are injured and hope this doesn't stop you from wanting to learn how to snowboard. also Ice boulders are usually not found on beginner slopes...

      deldragur It was a steep section going onto a long flat (Blue). The boulder was off the edge of the piste and i had SkiTracks running. And as soon as it's good to go i'll be back on the mountain, It's killing me knowing that it's dumping in the Alp's right now.

    Guys, the size board you should get is based purely on your weight. Look up the size chart to find what board you should be riding for your weight. And if the board is wider, like in a powder board you can downsize because the board will have a larger surface area

    Hey man, I had a quick question and wondering if you could help me out. I have been snowboarding for about 5 years now always renting from local shops. I live in South Carolina where the closest mountain is about 2 hours and 30 mins away. I am deciding between two boards both arbor elements one a 158 mid-wide and a 162 mid-wide. I am 6ft 2 and about 215lbs. If I go by weight it seems like 162 is the way to go but I don't want to have it feel too big or clunky. I'm also afraid the 158 may be too small for my weight and may not hold an edge as well. As of now I mainly just cruise down the mountain and go pretty fast but I want to move onto park soon as I progress my riding. As I said earlier I live on the east coast and don't have the best conditions (a lot of ice and slush) I was just wondering what you thought was best for me as I try to get better both in the park and carving

    I have a question re: goofy vs regular. When I wakeboard, I have my right foot in front, but when sliding with my socks on my tiled floor, I put my left foot forward. (I'm also left-footed). Would I be goofy or regular when snowboarding?

      Goofy probably, in most occasions your dominant foot is in the back

    It’s weird that I have been taught that if I kick balls with my right foot, then I should be regular (dominant foot at the back); however I found myself is goofy. I am also goofy when skateboarding.

    i just snowboarded for my first time pretty much. i rented a board and my legs felt awkward with how far apart the part where your foot goes in were. is this normal? i know theyre supposed to be pretty wide so i need to bend my knees but i bent them a lot and it still felt like they were too far apart

    “Resorts typically wax their boards regularly”, that would be nice! However at the resort I worked at I always had to have wax in my pocket!

    When you rent, they ask about the angles of the bindings as well. What would you recommend for beginners?

    Hi there. Just a little question about snowboard length.
    The snobwoard gear renting guys in our resort say the length of a snowboard should be somewhere between your chin and your nose tip. And they always try to find a snowboard for you according to this rule. Is that just wrong or maybe some outdated approach?
    Thanks.

    • @SnowboardProCamp
      @SnowboardProCamp  8 років тому

      +Igor Royd I think it's a bit outdated, because it's based on your weight too. Not many of my friends ride boards that come to theirs noses.

    I need help. I have my eye on one board, but it's 148cm, and i weigh 106 or so. Would you guys recommend getting it? What would be the dangers of riding a bigger board.

    • @katrina6174
      @katrina6174 6 років тому

      Judeahh I wouldn’t recommend getting it your proper size is a 144 or smaller that’s a huge board and the problems with riding a bigger board is that it’s a lot of weight to turn and do curves so having s bigger board makes that very hard
