On the Sunken ketch, the Bride room is a reused asset from the cutscene where we first meet the Awoken in Destiny 1. The area was meant to be part of the original Reef before it was redesigned for House of Wolves. The old version of the Reef still exists in Destiny 1 if you use blender. Sadly he couldn't elaborate further. 33:14 its a sootpearl. 33:41 im pretty sure that area is used for the opening cutscene to the shadowkeep campaign where eris touches the side of the pyramid and activates the nightmares.
The spot at 28:12 is from D1, part of The Dark Below's questline - you had to protect a bit of Rasputin from Omnigul and Crota's brood as they sought to mess with it (hack him or shut him down) as part of their escalation. This section is replicated and reused for RAS Seraph war bunkers across the system that resurfaced in Season of the Worthy.

I'd love to see that kings fall video, I've done quite a bit of exploring in the load zones from patrol and in the raid in destiny 1 and I want to see if most of the stuff is still there.
Froggy has a video on the spot at 37:00 and he called it the Iron forest. Could be an area that was supposed to be used in red war when we rescued Cayde and the portal that is loaded is the one that probably would've brought us there. The portal is currently in artifact's edge and is deactivated. The Iron Forest entrance is also loaded in the artifact's edge load. Froggy's Vid: ua-cam.com/video/C-L-CvG-zHo/v-deo.html
just wanted to say great video and im really really looking forward to a part 2 of this! love seeing cut content/insanely difficult to reach areas in d2. bungie really does a wonderful job at fueling secrets, even if unintentionally
Feeding the EAZ Cat was part of a Solstice triumph years ago. ua-cam.com/video/uaYJObQolCc/v-deo.html Originally we probably went into QS236, got charged with light temporarily in the place where we get the cutscene in vanilla, go into the cave leading to the Shard area, fight our way through to the end to the (+X) thing, get spit out of the matching (+X) end point into Galaxy Pools, then cutscene getting our light back for good. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a more much more revelatory story beat meant for it, and they decided to just axe it. 2nd iteration probably had us getting teleported into that cave at 14:12 from black forest also shown here: ua-cam.com/video/aGbKgfjaGwU/v-deo.htmlsi=KNi8kCBASVHfiyso&t=867 That trippy darkness spot probably teleported you to the inaccessible outcropping on the left side of the area in black forest where you were supposed to get sucked up into the gravity well. I think froggy has a vid oobing to that outcropping, can't find it right now though.
@@XAL very cool! Definitely didn’t know that cat had been used. I’ve seen the froggy video of getting to the outcropping. @@FierceDeitySponce word. is the map with the ships, big jade rabbit logo, and the space station O rings accessible in your viewer? I think it was environment_55 or something in mont's cubemap viewer years back
I believe you could get into the area shown at 26:17 in a seasonal mission during Season of the Seraph. I think there was a special load-in to get into an instance where you were on the other side of that door, or it only opened in that instance. Very cool to learn that the area was part of D1 and on the other side of a door in the Fallen S.A.B.E.R. strike!
dude i have ALWAYS been obsessed with the art and envoirnments of Destiny so this video is literally the most interesting thing ive seen in awhile. thank you so much for posting this, good luck on part 2!!!
In regards to the Shard of Traveler, if memory serves me correctly, it actually was part of additional subclass unlock missions you did. Not part of the Red War where you get your light back, but subsequent(optional) missions you could take to unlock the other subclasses. Those missions had you go to a different shard than the campaign mission. It was started directly from its own mission in EDZ map. For example: ua-cam.com/video/yPiGmW0VTqE/v-deo.html Or ua-cam.com/video/0BlpLs2Z4PY/v-deo.html I may be wrong, but I do think it may have been possible some non hackers may had gotten oob to the point where the lift starts(which only requires a player to go above/past the turnback)(I certainly could be wrong on this). I do know for a fact though that Galaxy pools was initially found by the hacker breaking load zones. Legitimate routes to Galaxy Pools didnt take long once people knew it existed.
@@cptenn9419 this is correct! The first video was one I used in my research for this, but hadn’t seen that second one or done that particular mission. Your timeline is also correct, the original video is still up of the hacker finding the unnamed load. Froggy found a legitimate way to it very soon after.
That cosmodrome area you showed was briefly a playable area. At the end of Season 19 (season of the Sareph) you travel down there to gather one of Rasputin's locked memory cores or something. You fight taken enemies and everything to get down there.
The Dark Forest area from the beginning of the vid was first used for the subclass quests for unlocking the other two subclasses on each character in Vanilla. You'd travel through the forest activating constellation holograms representing characters closely related to each subclass before taking a portal over to the lakeside Shard, where you'd unlock your subclass and get to use it on a selection of enemies, either Fallen, Cabal, or Taken.
I have a copy of the game from during shadowkeep before the sunsetting content removal in beyond light. It would be neat to be able to look around some of the old stuff from there. see the real shard of the traveler, maybe some of the old raid stuff.
This was a treat to watch on a sleepy morning, also you have a very nice voice! I always get maddeningly curious about closed off areas and i spent a lot of time in that false shard area trying to get out of bounds when they gave access again via lost ghost quest
I remember someone back in the day managed to find the maps of areas seen in the reflections of scopes or something? There was an entire new tower map that was massive and still never put into the game.
yes, there are a bunch of unused cubemaps that show early or cut areas. (also a lot of the earty cubemaps from d2 have guardian armor in them from when they were captured, oops!)
this is dope! this video showed up in my recommendations and after watching it, i'm definitely subscribed. thanks for this really cool peek behind the curtains of d2!
Late reply but 20:15 are leftover assets from the Destiny 1 EDZ. The EDZ was going to be a destination in the 2013 Staten Cut, but was pushed back after the rewrite. (You can see footage of it in 2013 ViDocs) As you correctly pointed out, those are early fallen walkers, we have concept art of them in a snowy edz (unable to post link unfortunately because the comment will get autodeleted) It's largely unclear what this would've been used for, it could've been abandoned by the time the Staten Cut was mostly finalized anyways. This is possibly the earliest piece of Destiny content we currently have access to viewing. (in terms of game files)
@@Berrineso Ketch doesn’t exist in any old footage, no, however by virtue of what it has inside it is most definitely something from before Destiny 1, not 2.
37:23 I think it’s an early rendition of the changes they made in season of the Chosen. The original area was much smaller before Caiatls land tank was there
It was used for when we would go to get our other subclasses. The uldren cutscene is set in the same area but it's a pretendered cutscene so it's not the literal map.
It was, I think in the 2nd or 3rd year old solstice there was a triumph to go down there and interact with something by the cat Statue. I can't remember if you had to bring it an offering or not.
It definitely was, I don’t remember which year but I explicitly remember doing this. Might have been 2020? It was when I first got really back into D2.
getting to hangmans pass has become harder because of the purple barrier loading faster. extremely good video i love to see cut content of games like this

@@bezolsmate ah yes! ua-cam.com/video/lwrgcVgaHzM/v-deo.htmlsi=4rmEGT7INKbL7usc I had actually watched that when it came out and forgot all about that section of the video. Very cool. Next for someone to get there in the unloaded dark forest. I recently saw a post of someone using Titan stasis super to break out of the gravity pull and the small box in that area. It was something like “back to the sludge from galaxy pools” but didn’t show very much exploration of the unloaded area.
@@FierceDeitySponce I was thinking, in theory, perhaps if you kill yourself in midair with Touch of Malice while you're in the pull after you hit the load, one of those respawn points by the lights could be the default spawn.
@@bezolsmate yeah I had the same thought, I tried having a friend join me while I was in the pull but join on leader is bugged right now and it just dropped him in The Sludge no matter where I was. 10:20 the correction on not being able to skate isnt entirely accurate if abilities are enabled as you can skate from super casts with varying degrees of speed, so being on prismatic hunter would allow you to select of one the faster supers and still have grapple
I'm only 20 minutes in but this is a great video. I've been playing this game since D1 DLC #2 and I didn't know about most of the stuff you're talking about. I have a request, is it possible you could pick at the Salvation's Edge raid in this manner? There's a lot of unsolved mysteries there and you might find something no-one else has!
@@zohzow I actually haven’t completed the raid myself yet, and I kinda don’t wanna go poking around like that until the next raid drops. Definitely wouldn’t be posting any content from it publicly until then, as that feels like a fair spoiler embargo. I follow RaidSecrets pretty religiously and I’m not aware of any major mysterious about it, so I wouldn’t even know where to look.
@@FierceDeitySponce That's totally understandable! I'm highly looking forward to if/when you cover it. As for mysteries there's one that I am personally VERY invested in which is figuring out if The Witness's body is the entire Monolith, and if it isn't, how much of the Monolith is The Witness's body. I've spent hours out of bounds documenting as much of the body as I can (see my videos) but I hit dead-ends that can't be solved without a map editor due to the sheer size of the raid. For example, we still have no clue what the entire Monolith looks like, it's either too far away or too close to make out the nature of its architecture. For more specific examples, one would be the fact that there's unexplained tree roots on one side of Monolith that are so out of bounds we can't tell where they lead to. Another specific example would be the room that encounter 2 (Dissipation) takes place in. The boss and the entire room (which is absolutely massive) have yet to be closely examined by anyone from what I've seen which is unfortunate because it appears that they both have valuable story-telling tied to them that remains unknown.
If you do a part 2 can you cover the Vault of Glass map if there is anything of note? This video was insanely interesting and I would love to see more.
Great video, just one question: what does blue coconut mean? I've tried looking it up and am only getting drink related results despite me attaching destiny to it.
@@Helios1097 there’s a running joke in the team fortress 2 community about valve finding an unused coconut texture that, when they deleted it, broke the whole game. So that one asset was integral to keeping the game together, and it couldn’t be removed. A while back, Bungie announced that blue drops would be removed once at the (soft?) cap, and when they implemented this, a whole bunch of other stuff started breaking after that update. It could have been unrelated to the blue drops, but the joke transferred over anyways that those blue engrams were d2’s useless coconut textures.
2:45 isnt this area where we unlocked additional supers in vanilla? I remember short cutscenes showcasing us using our new supers before getting to fight with them here pretty vividly.
Please, just to confirm with you if you have the info friend, is Destiny 2's engine simply the Halo Reach engine, but heavily modified??? Getting some major "forge" vibes from this if you catch my drift.
Seeing this, Bungie hasnt a single clue what the fuck they are doing. Removing all these areas, cutting them out and making them not even explorable is fucking bullshit. YET you can revisit some of the MANY MANY MANY areas around the path like niobe lab for example and be completely confused what the hell that place is. They build their amazing world only to be thrown away. Destiny is truly a lost franchise.
Somewhat related topic, but I once heard that Garden of Salvation was intended for D1, and the evidence is that the assets used for it were developed for 720p (for the PS3/360). Is this true whatsoever?
I’m not able to answer this without seeking out and learning a tool for texture extraction, assuming the qualities weren’t improved with the d2 release, but this really wouldn’t surprise me.
it is 'public' (its on github), but we fear bungie's wrath. if it gets too popular, it may be taken down as it is a SUPER easy way to leak stuff (it can do more than just maps). not to mention, its not finished yet.
That is “private” information though I did find it myself organically and am not part of the core group doing the research into the tool or anything. Due to the creator’s wishes I would have to take down any comments talking about the tool.

I understand why the tool must be kept private but I would LOVE to explore the maps myself. Great video though :D
there is a public tool. lookup how to install alkahest on youtube, it should be by xela. (the tool is called alkahest; yw) you can look at way more than this. including leaks. this tool is again. public
A lot of that stuff in the EDZ I’ve literally never seen before. Super fascinating stuff, love the video.
just wanted to say great video and im really really looking forward to a part 2 of this! love seeing cut content/insanely difficult to reach areas in d2. bungie really does a wonderful job at fueling secrets, even if unintentionally
The reason the fallen ketch looks so similar to maras throne room and ship is cause she uses fallen ships.
Yeah the throne she sits on in the cutscene from vanilla D1 is a throne taken from a ketch. All ketches have a throne that the archon priests sit in.
Feeding the EAZ Cat was part of a Solstice triumph years ago. ua-cam.com/video/uaYJObQolCc/v-deo.html
Originally we probably went into QS236, got charged with light temporarily in the place where we get the cutscene in vanilla, go into the cave leading to the Shard area, fight our way through to the end to the (+X) thing, get spit out of the matching (+X) end point into Galaxy Pools, then cutscene getting our light back for good.
Wouldn't be surprised if there was a more much more revelatory story beat meant for it, and they decided to just axe it.
2nd iteration probably had us getting teleported into that cave at 14:12 from black forest also shown here: ua-cam.com/video/aGbKgfjaGwU/v-deo.htmlsi=KNi8kCBASVHfiyso&t=867
That trippy darkness spot probably teleported you to the inaccessible outcropping on the left side of the area in black forest where you were supposed to get sucked up into the gravity well. I think froggy has a vid oobing to that outcropping, can't find it right now though.
@@XAL very cool! Definitely didn’t know that cat had been used.
I’ve seen the froggy video of getting to the outcropping. I doubt it’s related to lotus pond, that cave seems like a dark forest into qs236 bridge. I would love to get my hands on a pre-beyond light build so I could explore this area before it was gutted.
@@FierceDeitySponce word. is the map with the ships, big jade rabbit logo, and the space station O rings accessible in your viewer? I think it was environment_55 or something in mont's cubemap viewer years back
25:42 This area got used for a end of season quest/mission for season of the Seraph
That first Luna one is the cinematic with Eris opening Shadowkeep.
I believe you could get into the area shown at 26:17 in a seasonal mission during Season of the Seraph. I think there was a special load-in to get into an instance where you were on the other side of that door, or it only opened in that instance. Very cool to learn that the area was part of D1 and on the other side of a door in the Fallen S.A.B.E.R. strike!
this was fun, thanks for the showcase!
dude i have ALWAYS been obsessed with the art and envoirnments of Destiny so this video is literally the most interesting thing ive seen in awhile. thank you so much for posting this, good luck on part 2!!!
For example: ua-cam.com/video/yPiGmW0VTqE/v-deo.html
Or
ua-cam.com/video/0BlpLs2Z4PY/v-deo.html
I may be wrong, but I do think it may have been possible some non hackers may had gotten oob to the point where the lift starts(which only requires a player to go above/past the turnback)(I certainly could be wrong on this).
21:28 it might be placeholder. But Mara Sov’s throne was in a Fallen Ketch that was commandeered after they conquered the House of Wolves.
I love seeing things like this, cant help but wonder how possible it is to explore maps, like this, myself, if at all. Thanks for showing us. :]
@@5xa that’s what’s coming up in part 2 in a few weeks actually! Anyone can get a day 1 PC copy from Steam Depot with a tool called DepotDownloader.
This was a treat to watch on a sleepy morning, also you have a very nice voice! I always get maddeningly curious about closed off areas and i spent a lot of time in that false shard area trying to get out of bounds when they gave access again via lost ghost quest
Is it possible to investigate D1 content with those tool too?
Great video, man, would love to see more of that!
it is not. however Charm can be used for D1, but it was not ment for looking at areas like this program is.
23:22 this looks like what they’d use to plan out the skybox. Scale down a part of the level and then build the skybox surrounding this area.
this is dope! this video showed up in my recommendations and after watching it, i'm definitely subscribed. thanks for this really cool peek behind the curtains of d2!
Late reply but 20:15 are leftover assets from the Destiny 1 EDZ. The EDZ was going to be a destination in the 2013 Staten Cut, but was pushed back after the rewrite. (You can see footage of it in 2013 ViDocs)
As you correctly pointed out, those are early fallen walkers, we have concept art of them in a snowy edz (unable to post link unfortunately because the comment will get autodeleted)
It's largely unclear what this would've been used for, it could've been abandoned by the time the Staten Cut was mostly finalized anyways. This is possibly the earliest piece of Destiny content we currently have access to viewing. (in terms of game files)
Out of curiosity could you see this Ketch during any of the footage?
@@Berrineso Ketch doesn’t exist in any old footage, no, however by virtue of what it has inside it is most definitely something from before Destiny 1, not 2.
Great video! Would love to see more zoom ins on far away objects. Do the raids! Subbed!
37:23 I think it’s an early rendition of the changes they made in season of the Chosen. The original area was much smaller before Caiatls land tank was there
3:30 I believe this area was used in one of the forsaken cutscenes, one where Uldren took shard of the traveler
Your probably right
It was used for when we would go to get our other subclasses. The uldren cutscene is set in the same area but it's a pretendered cutscene so it's not the literal map.
fantastic video, would love to see a part two
please make more vids like this, i love destiny unused/scrapped content!
I wonder if the cat statue in the eaz wasn't part of a secret triumph from previous solstices.

@@bezolsmate ah yes! ua-cam.com/video/lwrgcVgaHzM/v-deo.htmlsi=4rmEGT7INKbL7usc
I had actually watched that when it came out and forgot all about that section of the video.
I forgot that rapidly swapping ToM used to kill your guardian, idk if it still does, but it’s worth a shot. I just need to get someone to help me fly or run TFS on my Titan.
The area at the begining of the video was used in vanilla D2. It was the mission area where you obtained your two other subclasses.
Omg what program do you use for this and could you please consider making a tutorial vid for it? This is exactly the kind of thing I’ve wanted to do to Destiny for YEARS

This is amazing, i'd love to take a look at some of this myself, how are you doing this? like, what program are you using and is there a guide on how to use it/get started? My friends and i LOVE oob stuff and looking at cut/unused content so if theres like, idk, a "dummies guide" or something i'd be eternally grateful like omg
Thanks algo for showing me this. I love this whole video. I’d absolutely love to know how you got this program to see all of this but I’m going to guess that you would get in trouble if you told us
I can’t wait for part 2. Love seeing OOB stuff and I’ve always wanted a way to see how kill barriers and turn back zones looked. Be able to have someone look at them so that it would make it easier for OOB and getting past certain points instead of having to guess and test places to get out
good video love the input
10:20 the correction on not being able to skate isnt entirely accurate if abilities are enabled as you can skate from super casts with varying degrees of speed, so being on prismatic hunter would allow you to select of one the faster supers and still have grapple
What tools are you using? How?! I'd kill to just explore this in my free time.
Those vines off the drifter's ship look pretty similar to egregore

btw nice video either way
I'm only 20 minutes in but this is a great video.
Damn, interesting to see Galaxy Pools in a different way. I wonder if Froggy has seen this yet.
@@Alexander.Lockwood froggy has known about all of this a lot longer than I have
Great video, just one question: what does blue coconut mean?
Is this map tool usable in D1? Would love to see black garden and mars with something like this
with ps3/x360, there might be some tool out there that can let you see the maps.
no, but another tool, charm, is compatible with D1, although it only shows geometry, no shaders or textures, as thats not what it was built for
2:45 isnt this area where we unlocked additional supers in vanilla? I remember short cutscenes showcasing us using our new supers before getting to fight with them here pretty vividly.
33:40 is this the ship piece and rock from the intro cutscene to Shadowkeep where eris touches the rocks and you see the pyramid texture?

Please, just to confirm with you if you have the info friend, is Destiny 2's engine simply the Halo Reach engine, but heavily modified??? Getting some major "forge" vibes from this if you catch my drift.
Yes it runs on Tiger engine but is a modified/overhauled version of the blam! Engine used for all of the halo games iirc
Gatekeeping this tool is WILD.
it is 'public' (its on github), but we fear bungie's wrath. if it gets too popular, it may be taken down as it is a SUPER easy way to leak stuff (it can do more than just maps). not to mention, its not finished yet.
