Dealing with seasickness as first timers is something most people don't think will happen until it does. You guys are champs and this was great to watch. Thanks for producing and filming it for everyone.
Well, I have always struggled with motion sickness so this was no surprise for me, luckily it has gotten much better and I haven't been sick since this first sail. I know I will always struggle with it but have already figured out things that help me combat it. Cheers, thanks for watching!
So important to share the not-so-good experiences for all to see and learn from. As a former sailor in the USNavy, I too have experienced my share of sea sickness. Dramamine helps, but would always make me very tired. Always got sick the first day out, then all was good. Anyhow, I can sympathize with you Kelsey. I love the upbeat persona both of you carry, and look forward to your channel for that reason as well as experiencing your adventures as new boat owners. Your learning curves appear to be very short and your accomplisments in this short time are impressive. Thanks for sharing, see you next video. Please be safe, and be well.
Baptism of fire... ehm passage-making + night nav :) Congrats. Hope that Kelsey will get her 'sealegs' soon. Will keep following/watching your videos, quite interesting for us, cause we are "fresh" SW1260 owners too, bought our boat half a year ago. I'd suggest you get your AIS soonest possible, it's really handy, I can't imagine us going anywhere without it or functioning radar.
You have a lot to learn but have done remarkably well. Believe me many enthusiasts sailors after years have not sailed as much as you two in such a short period.
One part of my brain is so happy for two and jealous that you are on a new adventure. The other half of my brain is stoked for your incoming channel success. You both work super hard and I’m glad the rest of the UA-cam world will see more of it!
Thanks guys. It's been a slog, but we're excited to see some increased views. Also excited to be doing this new adventure. It's all so new and there is so much to learn. Cheers
The adventure begins. I'm sure that you will love it! You need a red light for night watch and filming at night. You also need a back up auto pilot in case yours breaks which does happen. It happened to Sailing Sweet Ruca 1/4 of the way across the Pacific. Question, you almost passed on purchasing this boat. The only thing that I saw was a little dirt from it not being used. It sounds like you didn't see beyond the dirt or did you. Were there other issues that you didn't talk about?
I'm late to comment, but what an adventure. It was so exciting to see your first voyage. I'm sorry Kelsey got so sick, I hope it's something you're able to overcome. I'm looking forward to seeing the port towns you visit. Safe travels!
Thank you! I haven't gotten sick since that first voyage, so although I know I will have my fair share of seasickness in the future, at least it isn't every time we do a passage!
I've only had mild sea-sickness once, I tend to get land-sickness after sailing or surfing. The one time I got seasick I used those pressure point bands & seemed to do the trick, I've also heard good things about the behind the ear patches. Maybe keep a variety of remedies aboard & see what works for u. Good job on ur first solo sail!
Thanks! Yeah, I grabbed a band and some patches to keep on board for the future (Haven't tried either yet) and yeah, I feel you on the landsickness haha. Cheers!
I can tell you, we did a poor job of capturing how rough it was haha I was just trying to feel better and Tim's full concentration was on staying awake!
Have to admit, I was deflated when you two had to leave europe and sell the Maltec , which I thought was the perfect sized overlanding truck. Excited to follow you on your new adventures..
So awesome. So brave and determined. Always follow your guiding principles, trust your rationales, and take action addressing obstacles… laugh, stay positive, keep a sound vision! Love following this new dimension of your dream… “see what tomorrow brings”. Thanks for sharing!!
Wow, epic everything! Poor Kelsey, sorry about the sea sickness. I hope it keeps improving. Rest up and hope the next leg of your north passage is much better!
You guys are fun to watch. I watch sailing couple channels, this has always been my dream to sail around the world. Alas luck and opportunity has not lent itself to fulfillment of this dream. Since I watch a lot of these videos, I thought I would share a couple of things I learned by watching others. If you are concerned about your water tanks and water lines not being the cleanest, think about polishing your water tanks. Polishing is a term often attributed to polishing your fuel and fuel tanks, by running your fuel through extreme filters. You can build your own water system polishers via parts easily purchased at a marine store. Nick and Terysa from Sailing Ruby Rose, had to do this and published their video about it a couple of weeks ago. The second thing is something I noticed; you have Goose’s name on your dingy. I have watched more than one channel that warns against this. The reason being that people with ill intent can see that you are not on your boat when they see your dingy at the dingy dock. Name your dingy sure, especially if you are people that like naming things, but just try to make it not easily match your catamaran. If I ever get lucky enough to live the dream, I plan on installing a fuel polishing and water polishing system on the boat so I perform the process whenever needed. I will also name my dingy something that does not match my catamaran. With that yellow cover have you thought about naming the dingy Duck? Duck, Duck, Goose is a cultural thing specific to the west and does not obviously match your catamaran without a reasonable cognitive leap.
its good you are doing what you want to do and be happy i hope all work out for yall and i hope you are haveing a blast at life enjoy its i wish i did it in my younger days but i never had the time are the money so i watch the video of other people do it and i think that me out there lol have fun and pls take care out there be safe and look out for the killer whales they try to eat up the boat to get to you they say so be safe and go fishing that save on food and its real good for you to i eat salmon a lot when i can its good take care have fun thank you for the video i enjoy it
I marvel at catamaran’s every day and now I’m living vicariously through this channel. Awesome adventure!
Thank you! So glad you are enjoying!
I just found you two. I’m happy that I did. My name is Don Lockhart. I’m impressed ……I’m convinced that you are good people. Grace and Peace
Thanks Don! 👍😁

Yay. I found a new sailing channel. Watched all the others. Good luck you two on your new adventure.
Awesome! Thank you!
So glad you are feeling better, Kelsey. I'm in SC. Central, near Columbia. I know y'all will enjoy Georgetown. Stay safe.❤
Thank you! It was such a cute area. We are excited to explore that area more on our way South.
To get rid of seasickness. Drive the boat. If you cant drive the boat, lay inline on the keel down low. It goes away after a few days.
Agreed, drive the boat.
Thanks for the tips! I have luckily not gotten sick since this passage.

Amazing. Thanks for sharing your journey. Definitely scary.
Thanks for coming along. Growing pains!
Chandler Arizona here. I came across your old overlanding rig at Higgys a couple months ago. Congrats on the new endeavor. I will be following.
Hey neighbor. Right down the road, (chandler, ray) in Ahwatukee.
You have a lot to learn but have done remarkably well. Believe me many enthusiasts sailors after years have not sailed as much as you two in such a short period.
So cool to watch the transition to sailing. Thanks for having us along on the journey.

Honestly I think boat tube is a bigger space than overland tube.
Congrats... I've been following you for a while and so happy for you guys. A local from Stuart, Fl., so very familiar with the area.

Welcome aboard!
There are many different non-medication electronic sea sickness wrist bands, Reliefband to name one.
Thanks, I grabbed one of these (haven't tried it yet).
So awesome. So brave and determined. Always follow your guiding principles, trust your rationales, and take action addressing obstacles… laugh, stay positive, keep a sound vision! Love following this new dimension of your dream… “see what tomorrow brings”. Thanks for sharing!!

Hello some suggestions, make sure you have a lock system on your diggi, so no one can drive it away
Well done and well deserved!
Thank you!
Hopefully radar and AIS have been added by now, as both should be considered mandatory for passage making.
Love following you guys and learning with you. Well done!
Thanks!
Awesome, just joined!
Great video, glad to see you made it!
This is amazing, you guys are absolutely fearless, I love it

Quite adventurous then! Hope that was the only sea sickness on the stint north.
Luckily it was!
Welcome to the salty cruiser world.
Thank you!
Love it. ❤❤❤
Bonine! It's the best. 😊
We are not clear on what the destination was? Were you trying to get to bahamas and had to turn back to charleston? (ish)
Watch the other episodes. We are going from Florida to the North to get out of the Hurricane zone.
Love your videos. Sold my last boat in '99. Miss it, but that was another time...
Really enjoying getting to know you. Cheers, Mike
Thanks Mike!
Would a hammock, or even a single point hanging chair help with the sea sickness when you need it? Just a thought...
Not sure, seems like it would be helpful.
We’re you taking something for seasickness? Great change from the overlanding.
Yeah, this is the first 1260.
What a massive adventure. Assume you turned on Priority Data for Starlink? Hope she feels better.
We did. Thank you!
for boats you need the high performance dish
It would be awesome if you would let us know your trip plan so we know where you're going.
Could have been a worse adventure. Just make sure you get that transponder sorted, It can save your live.
We got that sorted ASAP! Cheers!
its good you are doing what you want to do and be happy i hope all work out for yall and i hope you are haveing a blast at life enjoy its i wish i did it in my younger days but i never had the time are the money so i watch the video of other people do it and i think that me out there lol have fun and pls take care out there be safe and look out for the killer whales they try to eat up the boat to get to you they say so be safe and go fishing that save on food and its real good for you to i eat salmon a lot when i can its good take care have fun thank you for the video i enjoy it
I hope you rinsed off.some people dump their holding tanks when on moorings.
Haha yeah, we waited for the tide to roll in and bring some cleaner water with it.
#crazy :)
👍
👍👍⛵⛵⛵⛵📹📹🍻🍻🍻
To your boat have a just asking
😀
Acupressure wristbands saved our bacon bigtime.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Why go on such a long trip for a 1st real sail. A couple of weeks in the Bahamas would have made more sense.
Not when you need to leave the Hurricane zone within a few days. 👍
Could I ask what your final offer was ?
I’m in the market, selling my business and taking my wife and kids to live this life
