Venezuela Uses "Dark Fleet" Tankers to Deliver Oil to Cuba | Firstpost America
The state oil company of Venezuela has started using tankers that operate off the grid to deliver supplies to its close political ally, Cuba, as the number of state-owned vessels servicing the route has decreased. Reports indicate that the vessels are now disguising their signals while unloading in Cuba. For instance, the Panama-flagged Neptune 6 was recently near Cuba's Nipe Bay transferring Venezuelan heavy crude and fuel oil to the Cuba-flagged vessel Esperanza. These extra vessels will help Cuba curate the demand for electricity, which is produced by oil-fired plants soars during sultry summers.
