The fact that you can freeze this brutal enemy makes the fight very much more safe and doable. And if you wont trust your timing skills, you bring a 1-up mushroom to die one time and freeze him(it) for the rest of the turns. And because of the Ice Vellumental power, 1000 Fold-Arms is actualy usable here.

He must've used the boots when the boss is unsheathed, which will cause an instant game over without the 1-up, or he missed the first jump to dodge since there's no way to use the Ice Vellumental immediately the first time around.
