Glad you found the DLSS Swapper. If you need extra help with your settings give me a shout (I have a Quest 3 VR settings guide on my channel now). Another entertaining vid as always 😅
A quick note on the lack of "crash modeling" in MSFS 24: The developers have explained that while they would have liked to include crash models, many real-life manufacturers-likely including Boeing-were opposed to having their aircraft depicted in a damaged or crashed state. As a result, the developers were legally prohibited from implementing such features. Furthermore, they decided it wouldn't be fair to make only certain aircraft breakable if they couldn't apply the same functionality to all planes and helicopters.
What makes it better than 2020? VR Flight Sim Guy said it doesn't really look much better except for trees. You're not using the Open XR toolkit for foveated rendering?
@ I’m truly amazed at the variety of trees from American southwest to Rockies to English country side maybe that’s an advantage of streaming the data they can have many terabytes of data to utilize
I have a 14900 and a 4090, I'm using TAA on low for smooth gameplay, or dlss medium using link cable. I currently have it looking amazing with taa low, but then a random flight is stuttering. I have a gb internet ethernet. I need to follow some guidance to all these taa ultra vr gameplay comments I see across the internet. I have flawless ganeplay on high settings in DCS is absolute chaos environments. I have faith. Mind sharing your strategy?
Cant wait for the digital twin of the earth that allows any traversal method you like. Spiderman? Flight Sim? Racing sim? Sonic platforming? Google earth vr pointer? All that and so much more.
If you check VR sim enthusiasts settings you'll notice they don't run at ultra. That's a big no no. Even on a 4090 beast of a pc. Sim is that demanding in VR. Maybe even a 5090 will still struggle. They'll go meduim - high at best. Sim will still look amazing in VR and your performance will improve greatly. Try it! DLSS swapper is great btw. Are you using Virtual desktop? Again for Quest3 that's a must. It's ASW is next level good. Try it out! Enjoy your vids btw!
Virtual desktop is never good for me. Link cable all the way for best graphics. I'm on a quest Pro... maybe that's my issue with VD. My 4090 doesn't care...it just bullies my headset to submission 😊
For your audio issues: I forget the name of the setting but under the audio settings there is an option to essentially simulate wearing a headset in the cockpit. It muffles sound like in real life. Turn that off
Can you crash and explode? Can you fly into Area 51? Can you fly and land anywhere in Antarctica? Man, I really wish I had a PC just for this game in VR! I'm living vicariously through you right now, Beardo! But man oh man, remind me to never fly in a plane you are piloting! It's a shame you can't jump out of the plane at altitude and skydive anywhere in the world!
Me and a friend were just discussing about Antarctica where its a no fly zone.. they have a secret underground base of Aliens an technology there. But it would be interesting to go there on Flight simulator and not be worried about going missing. lol
You can't crash and explore as the sim will reset your position to before you attempted to land. Area 51 and Antarctica are both accessible, assuming you actually land and not crash.
Yea, unfortunately.. many games have that water reflection bug.. is it DirectX? My favorite game 'theHunter: Call of the Wild' has it too, sadly. That game is magnificent, like MSFS2024 looks in the air, but on the ground. Most stunning forests and nature landscape, with the smallest of flowers and leaves. The water though.
I had a feeling your settings were weird on the first one! The mountains/textures in Yosemite looked pretty low quality but I figured it may have just been how they implemented VR support. Awesome to see it in its full glory.
I haven't looked into the new version but the previous version used AI to generate buildings structures from multiple sources automatically, the main one was just pulling up a building based on the angle when satellite images were taken. If multiple were used, it could create 3D Cities, in the same way Bing maps and google earth works. This is made super scaled up for you to fly around in. However it uses a lot additional generated content to populate areas. So if you fly over your own town for example, you might see areas of land where there is a lot of additional trees planted that just don't exist in real life, but would otherwise be say just grass or farm land. Now, Microsoft did offer tools for the community via the Scenery Creation tool, to go in and fix buildings, in 3D modelling, correcting down centres add additional roads, major landscape monuments etc that the game couldn't automatically generate or the quality it did generate wasn't good enough. However, you couldn't remove the automatically populated content such as a trees. This is in a way, why open wild life areas that you fly over look better, more realistic because they're untouched by humans in the away we'd remove the trees to make way for our concrete jungles. There was a small project that was trying to automate Microsoft's version of Google map's Streetview, called Streetside, into building up the lower level (ground) building frontage, but if anyone has ever tried Microsoft's street side it's terrible picture quality, and while more accurate than what we see at 7:20 looked worse, as most of the streetview in the UK for example is now over 10 years old that was provided by TomTom around the same time as the navimaps during Nokia deal with the Windows Luma phones. We might still have really good ground level textures and buildings coming, but it'll probably be AI generated now, unless they can do some deal with Google maps for their Streetview data...
Hi there i had the sound bug i uninstalled then reinstalled and its fine now i always watch your vr videos great content this msfs 2024 is absolutely great sim
Funny to see the textures and midtown madness vehicles at 3:45 . I did a bit of Database development years ago and always wanted everything detailed . I was told No one does that and its a waste of time. I will listen from now on😄
Beardo, it’s more common to use SSW / ASW in Flight Sim as around 40fps is surprisingly acceptable in this type of game. Worth a try for higher DLSS preset, smoothness. Or even try TAA with your rig. Great to see you having fun with the sim it can be amazing in VR!
That loss of audio can probably be resolved by going to the desktop and clicking on the games app running on the task bar. Then go back into VR and it'll work.
They can't possibly put 4k quality graphics on every single item in the game, that would be massive. Then you'd have web based rendering based on where you are in the world. They are most likely just using like google maps images pasted on 3d models, thus they look "melted" as you say.
Fixing the missing engine sounds is actually an easy fix. It involve deleting some files from the streaming folder. Plenty of UA-cam videos that show how to do it which I've tried and work.
Even tho it is laggy, buggy and all that, this game is truly one of a kind. I remember when I played first time 3D game (it was just called "Hunter" on floppy disc, Amiga 500) and was amazed how massive the world was and flying with helicopter felt like I was able to go anywhere. Later I saw neighbors dad playing MS flight simulator on PC (maybe the first one?) and was thinking that being able to fly all around the world would be cool... Well here we are, second game with full world as a playable game world.
MSFS 2020 is a remarkable achievement of a game. And it's great in VR. I absolutely can't comprehend how they could have built upon 2020 and made it better other than make it more hungry for better graphics cards. But it already looked good enough. I don't get why we have 2024.
11:40 What would be amazing, is if they added (excuse the pun) copilot to the game, so you could get a running commentary of major landmarks or areas that that you're circling or passing over. "If you look over to the left you can see the Rainbow Bridge at the base of the Niagara falls. It's an international steel arch bridge that connects the cities of Niagara Falls, New York, USA, and Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada" or you could use your voice to ask your copilot what's this bridge here, and knowing your location in the game mapping it 1:1 in real life it could determine the bridge you're on about. What a time to be alive.
What a cool thing they could do is like do a ``pokemon snap`` type of DLC or something where you have to go around the world and take pictures of animals and monuments and things like that... That would be amazing.
The sim already have Like a album what you need complete with pictures of animals, is like missions what u need take a pictures of specified animals around the world
I saw on another vid the target frame rate should be low. It works the other way around. If it can't reach your 90, it lowers the visuals. So set to 30 and it'll keep your graphics high.
There are two sets of falls at Niagara falls, the straight falls on the U.S. side, the first falls you came to and the one you "flew" off of, and the horseshoe falls on the Canadian side. That was the one further up that didn't have a top, or really wasn't really rendered correctly at all, haha
Right beardo... I know this isnt your thing so I forgive you. But New York is photogrametry. Where photogrametry is used, it looks odd from close up because of how it is constructed. Most or many cities use photogrametry data... I'm pretty sure if u want to see the best of the ground level detail, you need to go to the wilderness.
I had the "No Engine Audio" issue. For me, as I have the |Game Pass version, I just went into the Xbox App, and did a repair. I also deleted the rolling cache file. Restarted, and my engine sounds were then working. For Steam others have the same, and people there were doing the same, repairing, and deleting their rolling cache file
great video, i'm also loving this game/experience/world ! Just something (don't know if it's mentioned below), you can sprint as well as walk, check yr controller settings, on xbox controller it's hold right trigger in i think
I'm currently enjoying the graphics in VR but I'm seeing a black outline around the planes in VR, would you know what in the settings causes this? (I'm using a pico4 streaming wirelessly on virtual desktop using an RTX 4070ti)
Hey Berdo, for your audio issue I get the same and there is a fix if you Google and find it. Basically going to Windows sound settings and reset the apps being used i.e FS2024 to Default settings as there is one set to 1% volume. Asobo aware of it.
How do these dancing reflections look in VR? I was considering this, then I realized I just want Google Maps in VR. And I already have that, for free (PC only though).
FS 2024 needs a lot of work on all the model/mesh artifacting. stuttering, inconsistent resolution of the ground textures and assets not loading properly. among other things. While I am highly impressed and also played on my Quest 2 headset on ultra with DLSS though I probably should have set it to high instead since I had a 4080super but still was getting 50+fps at times. I am glad I played it on Xbox pc game pass and not plunk down $70 for this sim. Figure it needs a good 6 months more to cook before its consistent and stable.
Why not use the PSVR2 with its OLED display and DisplayPort? Why do you use the Quest 3 all time for PCVR instead? I'm considering buying a VR headset but feeling a bit confused. I have a high-end gaming PC and a PS5, but my primary interest is in PCVR. Where I live, the Quest 3 is available for $650, but its accessories are hard to come by. So, my question is: Is the Quest 3 truly worth it for PCVR compared to the PSVR2? Could you help me decide?
If you have a VR headset, does it work off of your existing graphics card, or does it augment or upgrade your experience based on its internal graphics card, if any?
I'm hoping to get this running tomorrow in vr, My setup is Meta Quest 3 128gb RTX3060 12GB vram, Ryzen 7 2800x, 64gb Vengeance LPX ddr4 ram. So , an average build
If you want better graphics many landmarks have special texture packs you can download to greatly improve the look of everything in those locations. Also if you actually turn on the controls in the simulator to have realistic damage and so on you would never survive those landings of yours lol
While cool, the big problem with MSFS is that it isn't really a good model of Earth. We are still many decades before we have enough AI/data to make a sim like this accurate at ground level.
If you uninstall the game and install it again it will sort the audio for thr aircraft out. It worked for me when all my aircrafts had no internal or external sounds
Go to area 51 or hell what about the DMZ between NOrth Korea and South Korea and land there or land on top of everest and get out. Or like in the middle of the rain forest in brazil. Or like the mountains around pakistan afghanistan. ... I really need to buy a new PC to run this game.

this is one downside of licensing, the other is that licenses expire and you can't sell the game anymore. Like Outrun and After Burner :(
I’ve got a 4090 and 2024 is utterly mind blowing. I use TAA and it’s honest to god so beautiful it makes me emotional.
