@@welshreader, i noticed that you sometimes get rid of books based on someone else’s opinion on whether they enjoyed it or not. why not give it a chance anyway? maybe read a few chapters and judge for yourself. it’s just extremely painful to see someone with so many nice books get rid of them based on someone else’s opinion. it’s just a suggestion, but to each their own i suppose.🤷♀️
I love my Harry Potter books , not planning on getting rid of them ever. I think people shouldn’t be criticized for loving them and keeping them , also shouldn’t be criticized for unhauling them either.
I love a good unhaul! I've gotten so much more ruthless - I just think the moment certain books leave my shelves I know I'll forget about them and won't miss them haha
I don't keep books simply because they are pretty. I am huge mood reader, and I will grab whatever story appeals to me at the time, not taking into account any covers. Most of my favorite reads are paperbacks from the 80's and 90's, so they aren't that pretty to look at anyways! I understand the appeal of looking at aesthetically pleasing books, but why keep them if you aren't going to read them?
I wouldn't get rid of books just because an Author expressed an opinion and anyway she wrote the Harry Potter books a few years ago before she said what she said. I am there to read the book. doesn't bother me.
"Opinions" = Invalidate a group of people for who they are and continue to disrespect, devalue and dehumanize them years later. To which their own I guess, but from where I stand people have more than enough reason to put her books in the trash, for I'm sure she was still the bigot she is nowadays when she wrote Harry Potter 🤷
I agree, I love the Harry Potter books and I can NEVER, EVER see myself unhauling them. Nowadays you’re not allowed to have an opinion anymore without people freaking out.
@@leastidyworld4365 I haven't gotten rid of the books as the series holds a special place in my life however I'm choosing not to promote the author on my channel any more because her views have been harmful to a lot of different groups of people.
Regarding 'Where the Crawdads Sing' Tbh I think if you already bought the book and are interested in the story, I would've said to still read it. It's a little different if you haven't already purchased anything from her. Personally dont know anything about the author but I loved it
I’m not getting rid of my HP…but I’m not displaying them either. As a gender non conforming person, it really hurts that someone I loved and looked up to thinks that way.
A Winter's Promise is a book that influenced a lot of books that have come out more recently, so having recently read it, I was wondering what the big deal was because nothing in that book was memorable (also there was a really toxic relationship that I couldn't stand behind). You're definitely not missing out by not reading it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Only discovered your channel tonight. Subscribed. Never watched a Booktuber from Wales before. I travelled from England to Wales to get my dog. She's a pain in the backside lol but the trip was worth it
I love this video! 😁 thank you for sharing! I read “Where the Crawdads Sing” this time last year and absolutely adored it, the description of the nature scenery was absolutely beautiful and the mystery was so good but it is your own decision ☺️ I absolutely love the Agatha Christie shelf, that is my goal also 😍 I often by books on my kindle first and then if I truly love it and want to add it to my collection I would buy the book then ☺️📚 You could do a self destruct shelf if you haven’t read them in 12 months shelf 😊 The Stardust thief I thoroughly enjoyed the scenery, the relics and the retellings of one thousand and one nights 😁😍 🧽🧴🧹🪠 I think you would really enjoy “The Final Girls Support Group” and especially for the month of October and be good for a spooky read blog alongside an Agatha Christie book ☺️
Thank you so much for watching and commenting☺️ I wish I read more on my kindle but the screen really puts me off, it’s a goal of mine to try and use it a lot mote this year though! I have a self-destruct shelf from last year so when those books go I can make a new one👀
Here's all the books I'm not actually unhauling. I'm being sarcastic I've never read hp I have all the books as well they are in the bottom of my shelf and a place I can't get to anytime soon. I have no interest really.
J.K. Rowling hasn’t said anything wrong? Some people just call you homophobic or transphobic because they can’t deal with the fact that your opinion differs from theirs. 🤦🏼♀️ People are confused enough nowadays, about their genders or in general, a famous author doesn’t need to add to that. But well done on the declutter, it can be so hard to let go, I know whereof I speak, and it’s refreshing to make space on your shelves.
Sorry I don’t understand your comment. I don’t support J K Rowling any more as her views are harmful to a lot of marginalised groups of people. Harry Potter was a massive part of my childhood and teenage years and it’ll continue to have a special place in my heart but I don’t actively promote the books or films any more out of solidarity and respect for the trans community. Hope that clears things up👍
I really don't understand people who are refusing to read a book just because the author did something bad. You said it yourself, you know you'll probably like the book. Why are you unhauling it then? No one is perfect and everyone has done bad things at least once in their lifetime, so if we're going with your logic, you should unhaul every book you own and never buy another one. Do not ruin art with that mindset. I have nothing against you, in fact I love watching your unhaul videos. But that's just bothering me and i wanted to share it.
Only thing I heard about the author of Where the Crawdads Sing is her husband killed a poacher. Which idk why that is a bad thing. They deserve it, tbh.
It’s assumed he was poacher but other reports say he was someone working with them. Secondly they were reported to have terrorised an entire village of people who when interviewed said they were glad they had left.
Why do you care? Those are her books. If she chooses not to keep books, which were written by an author she doesn’t support anymore, then that’s her business. Has nothing to do with „cancel culture“.
Okay SO please ignore how late I am! I was waiting for a day WFH with a full free lunch break to dedicate to this video 😂😂 I was sat chilling with my soup and jumped like "Ah! She said Chloe Reads Books!" 🤣 Naaaaah get rid of the Erin Morgensterns! I did read The Night Circus and trust me the online community is more annoyed if you don't like it! Kiwi was so helpful 😂 🧽🧹
Don’t worry! It’s such a long video I completely get it😂 I would like to read them but I’m just not sure whether they’ll be worth the hype, might give myself a year to read them and have to unhaul them if I don’t manage it. I’m definitely scared of the online community too😂 She’s just there for cuteness points😂
The dog looks so interested in her talking and then looks at the camera like why are you watching this I don't see the point...😂
Yeah she doesn’t like it when I film😂
I love unhauls more then I love hauls- 😭😭😭
Same😂
Both are fun to watch 😅. I don't have enough books to unhaul yet lol. Only have 90
I think
I adore a good unhaul! There are so many amazing books we need to make space for!
Exactly! I’m definitely guilty of hanging on to books instead of getting rid so this felt really good😄

I'm 18 mins in and amused with your reluctance to get rid lol. I just unhauled over 200 books. It was satisfying lol.
I definitely got better by the end but I really struggle to get rid of books😂
You should only keep the books you like, not because others like/ or dislike them.
I love a good unhaul! I've gotten so much more ruthless - I just think the moment certain books leave my shelves I know I'll forget about them and won't miss them haha
I feel like I should have gotten rid of a lot more😅
Always feels good to purge books and refresh for the new year! 🧹
Yep! Definitely could have unhauled more so we’ll see whether I go back and get rid of those😅
I love this type of unhaul! Good job and your shelves are beautiful!
Thank you so much!

You’ve inspired me to do an unhaul myself! 🧼🫧
It’s so nice to make room for different books! Hope it goes well for you if you do one☺️

That’s fair but I’ve had it on my shelves for such a long time and never picked it up either. Glad you loved it☺️
I read The Binding last year, my favourite book of 2022! I hope you have a chance to read it!
I feel like I’ll love it but the hype has just scared me😅
You could also do a family friend trade or little free library outside you house area of other little free library
I give a lot of my books away to family members/ people at work☺️
A free library sounds fantastic too!
The Gilded Wolves trilogy is beyond good. 💕💜💙
I held on to it! Just have a feeling that I’m going to enjoy it😄
Well done for clearing so many! 💛🧹🧽🫧
I definitely feel like I could have gotten rid of more but thank you😂💜
Just because you disagree with her stance on transgenderism and real women in our society, doesn't mean that you have to get rid of her books.
I haven't but I'm choosing not to talk about the author on my channel any more
Kiwi really is so cute 😍
Yep but she’s also a menace😂
What stops a book slump I find is to read the first chapter if you keep going it's worth reading.
I might do a video like that soon where I try a chapter from different books👀
I’m not getting rid of my HP…but I’m not displaying them either. As a gender non conforming person, it really hurts that someone I loved and looked up to thinks that way.
It must be so hard! HP is a series that got me through so much and I can’t believe how the author has decided to use their platform😡

What do you mean by that? I’m just getting rid of books😅
@CB Woods I'm canceling you, you've been cancelled🤣🤣🤣
