I dunno man. I have Big Blue , KI, and MVC and they dont look bad in extreme viewing angles. Even looking here on this video they dont. Now, I dont have the MK cab yet, but from videos/reviews I've seen, including this one, you dont even have to be at extreme viewing angles for it to look washed out. Regardless, if its not an issue for you, thats absolutely fine. Thanks for the review
No sweat man! And yeah I mean everyone is going to notice different things. For me the light bleed is a killer. Most of my monitors have edge or corner bleed. But I’ve got a big bright spot smack in the middle offset a little to the right. So I may put in a request for a replacement.
But from a contrast perspective, gaming on it was totally fine for me.
Not argue it’s good. More arguing the monitors were always kind bad and this one is slightly worse. 🤣
I think the word I used in the review was “adequate” which I still think is accurate, even with the light bleed. 🤣

Totally agree with you. I have this and MVC2 and best to date build wise. Monitor has some wash out but doesnt affect the experience by much and is'nt that bad, unless your over 6 foot so maybe i'm at the perfect height lol. Love this cabinet. Finally a real , fair and honest review
I was starting to think I was the crazy one based on feedback. But yeah I think it’s folks trying to shore up some drama for views.

The monitor may not completely bother someone like me or prevent me from buying....but I can absolutely see how people would avoid it even if its ok for you. Gamers today, right or wrong, demand A LOT more from companies. Especially if they're shelling out $500. Are buyers today more nitpicky though? Sure. But these things are also a lot more expensive then theyve ever been before. Hopefully future releases will use a different monitor. Im sure they will.
I mean I having collected real cabs, I guess I always compare them against the price of the real thing. And I’m still blown away that A1Up was able to deliver this for $500 with free shipping. Just pricing out my own 3/4 I was looking at over $400. So I’m really curious what kind of margins they are looking at on the MK cab. And I wonder if the screen is a by product of having to squeeze in some more margin.

Nice review agree that the monitor doesn't effect the main front on viewing angle sitting on a stool, but standing up or viewing from the side the monitor wash out is pretty bad. I have the cabinet myself and love it, but can't deny the monitor is trash lol
I mean at 5’11” I’m not seeing the standing wash out. But for some of you giants, I can’t speak to that 6’+ experience. 🤣

nice to see a positive review among all the bad ones, your big blue review helped sway me on that one so maybe I'll wait until this one goes on sale. those 2 and KI are my 3 holy grails but KI has yet to go on sale and I was hoping we'd know more about the pro series by now.
Yeah if you aren’t in a rush, I’d wait for sure. You know those $150-$200 off sales are inevitable!
I was so tempted to get this cabinet and upgrade my Midway legacy. But I'm glad I didn't because it looks like a new MK deluxe cabinet is coming out and I am a huge fan of the MK2 artwork. So I might save up for that one haha. I would love to see a tour of your room it looks like you have a ton of sick stuff in there. I have a video up of my arcade room if you're interested. I like hearing feedback.

The extreme washout only happens when you pan to the right side. There was washout a bit even on your camera when you panned, but I agree the monitor isn't the biggest issue for me.
Yeah. I mean it’s not great but it’s not horrendous is more what I was trying to convey. 🤣
So definitely not good. But passable enough that it’s still worth a buy to me especially when compared to its closest alternative, the previous midway legacy cab.
I wonder if it’s possible to hot swap in one of those monitors into this cab though!

Appreciate it FeralInferno. And yeah man the wash out isn’t great. But it’s not terrible either (at least on mine). The light bleed is where I got unlucky this time since it’s the first time I hit light bleed in the middle of the monitor instead of on the edges or in the corner. Wonder if there was some compression damage to the glass or something.
Might hit A1Up up with a photo to see if they can maybe ship me a replacement monitor. But the wash out didn’t bother my wife or I standing and playing 2 player MK1.

There’s a new MKII one coming out this year and it has no riser. Raiden goes all the way down to the bottom on the sides. And the speakers have metal grills. Maybe the 17” monitor is BOE this time. BOE is a better monitor than the MK30th, Golden Tee XL, NBA Shaq, and gen 1 monitors.
It’s the same as the KI pro. Don’t like the form factor. And way too expensive for the quality.

That’s a light bleed actually! Got a nasty one on this machine. I’ve had it on most corners on past machine. But this one has a big one too right and like right center. So I might send pics to A1Up to see if it’s severe enough that I can get a replacement.
The wash out is when your blacks turn white. But it’s pretty uniform. And you can see in the side shots that the far side of the monitor gets a little more washed out than KI and big blue.
Or at least that’s what I always though wash out was based on the tv stuff I used to read. 🤣
So feel free to correct me if I’m wrong!
But that spot at the top right and right center are just bright illuminated spots all the time. So def some unlucky light bleed for me. Still not terrible when a game is running, but more annoying than the wash out for me at least.
I’ll keep you posted on what A1Up says!
@@OfficeArcade my KI looks pretty much how your MK looks, and I’m not the happiest about it, especially since it’s such a dark game. But my big blue looks best of all my machines
I'd rather keep my Capcom Legacy than upgrade to a big blue or yoga flame. I just like the Capcom Legacy cabinet better
Yeah I loved the art on that cab. But if you can get a big blue PCB, you should!

From all of the reviews that I've seen, your screen isn't as bad as all of the others that have posted about this cab IMHO. As some have already pointed out, you can still see the bright grey washout on some of the angles. However, it's either your camera that shot a really crisp video, or your screen juust wasn't as bad as others. My MK will be here hopfully in the next few days, and if it's anything like yours, I can live with it until a fix somehow comes along. Thanks for the review!

I think they all come with the riser now. Not sure they make riser-less ones anymore. This one did come with the riser.

Nah. The yoga flame lineup isn’t as good. The darkstalkers trilogy, puzzle fighter, and knights of the round is legendary on top of the street fighter games! Definitely big blue.

Yeah I swapped all my buttons out for sanwa buttons! And I went mk2 and 3 button colors for the lay out.
It's such a beautiful machine, but damn did A1U screw up the monitor. I wouldn't mind having in my collection if it were to be on sale though, haha.
I don’t mind the monitor at all it’s one of the two cabinets I’m going to keep. Selling off the rest.

Did you use OBSF-30 buttons and JLF-TP-8YT sticks? The OBSF-30 buttons didn't fit well in my SF2 arcade1up at the time, so I had to combine the JLF with alternative quality buttons for that cab. Thanks for sharing!

When are your tournaments on sf and mortal kombat
Main tournament I go to is combobreaker. But putyourquarterontheglass used to run great arcade1up specific tournaments.
I like these cabs they're nice I just wish the sound was better they only let it go up to 15 notches you used to be louder and then people complain it and have them lower the sound which don't make sense it should have kept the sound the way it is long as you can put the sounds whatever level you want you should be able to keep this out as loud as you want but you can add better speakers so that's a good thing if you want you can change out the speakers🤔🎮😀👍🏾
I never max the volume. Haha. Cap it out at like 5/6.
Can you play all the games like Rampage and Guantlet online?
Yeah. Some games are for high score only but many you can coop.

Why dont they ever put the SNES Version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 with Rain and Noob Saibot, it's like not available on any digital platform or academic cabinet structure ONLY SNES......
Because that wasn’t an arcade game. They rarely put console ports on their machines.
The monitor is really bad. Horrendous contrast ratio. It's bad for 2022. It would be bad for 2008.
My wife and I enjoy ours. Have had no issues gaming on it.
I just bought it and I'm waiting for it. This will be my first arcade1up machine. It's been a week, so you may not see this. But if you do see this, can you tell me if they ever do any kind of updates via the Wi-Fi? If not, I just won't connect because I'll never use it. Thank you for this video ^^
They do occasionally do wifi updates but very infrequently.

I mean in person I didn’t notice significant difference outside of my bad luck with the light bleed. I wonder if we can swap the monitor out with the legacy monitor. Might be fun to try.

Another reviewer measured it for me and got 61", 3 inches taller than the MKII legacy. A1up added that panel extension on the side panels.

It is taller. But the panel is inclined so the panel height is only slightly taller than legacy. I posted a side by side of MK and KI and you can see the panel height difference even though the cabs share a similar build.
Where did you get the buttons to mod the control panel? And was a difficult to do?
I get my sanwas which are my preferred buttons from paradise arcade shop. And it’s pretty easy, check out my KI unboxing video. I do a quick install there.

I don’t believe so. I’ll have to check. There is an online global leaderboard. But haven’t tried to see if there are offline options.

Nope the viewing angle is not side to side is up and down.
Watching other folks, it was side to side that was the problem. But looks like I got lucky and got one with better QC.

The cabinet is very small complete trash.
It should had the original mortal Kombat cabinet size.
I love this form factor. Much better for homes and fits through doors easily.
