Love my 2001 American Standard so I bought a 2020 2:39 Showmaster SSS with S1 push/pull tone knob. Last year got an HSH Player Strat and switched it to HSS noisless pups and I love them. Great tone and playability.
Great job giving us a demo that shows the guitar’s real sound. This shows, and I find at home, that Fender is offering excellent sounding versions of their guitars at several different price ranges. You would be doing great if you chose any of the current models, us or Mexico. Thanks for the demo!
Picked up one of these a couple of years ago. I couldn't be happier with it, very nice guitar, super versatile. The one gripe I have is the string saddles, but that's easily fixed.
IF YOU STILL HAVE NOT GOT ONE-- the fender tash sultana, has all the same stats as a performer, but only a touch dearer, and far more chance of becoming colectable as only a few being made, and it looks like it cost 2-3k with its gold hardware and desent scratch plate,,go see then tell me im wrong ;-)
So now I've gotta come here for Jim's demos as well as Mark😀. Sweet guitar. I was looking at an American special strat but I'll have to check this out as well. Same specs pretty much as far as the neck goes....
I am on the verge of purchasing this guitar in mint condition off a guy from the Facebook marketplace for $800. My ONLY concern was I’ve come across a fake fender once and it’s decals were stickers and I noticed that with this one when I looked at it had all stickers as well but much better quality for sure compared to the fake. I just was hoping someone could let me know if that’s how these are supposed to be or if that’s a red flag.. I have a feeling it’s fine and I’m just being tight with my money lol. Appreciate any responses. ✌🏼
This really is a great guitar offering the full range of tones for which we have come to love the Stratocaster; and all of it at a great price, so well done Fender. But!!! What is it with the craze for jumbo frets? To me they are a hindrance to getting around, just like speed bumps. So many times I'm excited about a new guitar model and almost invariably these days, the fretboard is a no-go area for me.
the neck colour looks really light... lighter than the Player series... but I've never seen one in person. Could someone clarify if its lighter. I wish the neck was roasted maple.
The fretboard looks like it would get a circulatory collapse. Sounds cool but visually it's not my thing. I prefer a good old 50s with AY PU's. My frbd. is nearly orange.
Never had a strat before. But I’m between this model and the fully single coil model. What are the recommendations? I know both are different pickups but does it really matter if they can be split

I bought the Performer HSS for the Strat sound & extra humbucker punch when you need it for heavier rock songs & wanted the SSS too as the performers are GREAT…but as I have a great one now ( HSS)….I have decided to go with an original Strat with more melodic sounds without any punch. Now feel I have all I need for the songs I want to play. Think about that when making your decision.
i tried the performer HSS and SSS at this music store for about an hour. The Humbucker is dope, but something about isn't Strat like when you play a SSS side by side. You'll hear the difference if you try it out. HSS is still really cool and awesome to play. I got the SSS because i want my strat to sound like a strat.
@Luke i think if you want heavy metal and rock you want a humbucker in the first position. I only played a few Jim Hendrix and rhcp songs. Test it out in a music store!
Why does Fender still use that aweful saddle, no thum truss wheel, no contour around teh bolts, etc...and still charge that much? Ibanez AZ kills this these days along with so many less expensive models like my Schecter. Every major brand has steped up their game in the last 5 years.....except Fender just sitting on their laurels...
I don't mind paying a bit of a premium to get the made in usa strat, but you are right, the prices are a bit silly. This guitar is in my top 3 for my next purchase. I'm happy they're now providing humbuckers with all white - you used to have to settle for the ugly black and white side by side. As for price, I guess it depends on how modernized the process is now. Fewer people hours required in the process means lower costs. I'm still onboard with Fender/Gibson being the top two brands but I do wonder how much of the cost is attributed to simple brand name. I'm pretty new to the guitar world, but how important is the thumb truss wheel in a generic strat like this? I want an Ibanez but I'm holding out for a made in japan model, preferably with a fixed bridge.

Bought this 2 years ago as a first guitar at age 60 😊. Love it. I can only play chords, but I love it.
This is the best demo i”ve seen on a fender product the last year. Seriously. Awesome job
Best sounding Strat I’ve ever owned!

Buy Highwood saddles, no saddle height screws scratching your hand
Graphtec saddles are fantastic ✔️
Sounded so good I almost cried. Had to stop the video cause I'm at work.
So, Saitama can play the guitar as well
Fabricio Rojas OOONNEE PUUUUUUUUUUNCH!
He’s a musician for fun
lol dude.
i realize Im quite off topic but do anybody know a good place to stream newly released series online?
@Nelson Kamryn I watch on flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
Awesome playing and great tones on that axe! Now if only I could afford one...
Very nice playing, better than you get on most demos
Agreed! Also see RichBancroft
Sounds great, except for that the Yosemite pickups are advertised as noiseless but you do still get that 60s cycle hum on the single coil tones
Yosemite’s are not noiseless and Fender doesn’t say they are either.
To the point, efficient, and fantastic demo! I love the style switching allowing the pickups to shine in their best light!!

Where do you still find American Special Strats? As far as I know the Performer Series is the 'new' American Special Series.
The Performer Strat HSS ( with humbucker) I love & so I bought one!
I’d like a les Paul but it doesn’t sound like a strat ,,I just love that snap
Les Pauls snap alright...
if you drop them 😄
amazing guitar
Rumor has it, I'm getting one for my 30th birthday

you totally convinced me LOL, thanx for the great demo, and that was the color i was thinking about ;)
Great playing.
Nice review. Love Strats but really dislike the bleached out maple fingerboards of recent years. Bring back some tint!
Maple will age as its exposed to light. There is no need for tinting after 1 or 2 years.
@@helixworld are you sure? I thought it varnished so it can't change color...
It’s not bleached, it’s just not tinted or aged.
100%, I’d even buy one with the big nasty headstock if there was some tiny to that wood
Very comprehensive and thorough review.
Shame you lost the tremelo arm.
After playing a Les Paul for a long while it’s crazy to hear how empty strats sound
Why Satriani test Fender😯?
How does the double-tap humbucker compare with the Shawbucker?
Joe Satriani is that You?
nice playing by the way

Alf Tupper couldn’t agree more!played the tele recently and it was a cool guitar but the frets felt like railroad beams!

It is, but you can place the guitar in the sun in summer for like 6h a day and it will get darker "roasted" i did that with my Squier Telecaster

I’d go for the HSS man. You get the joy of having a humbucker and a single coil. It’s the perfect two in one.
