Extremely good video! The best about the Macbook Pro 2019 16" I've found so far actually! I feel like, I am one of these cases where buying one of these actually makes sense!
thank you couldnt find any comparsion video for similary priced mcbooks mbp 16 inch and mba m1 all are mostly comparing with the m1 pro which is bound to be better, but also a bit expensive, wanted to see if i9 performas any better because it was a top model back in 2019
I watch a lot of tech reviews and this one is by far the best I've seen on this Mac. Really comprehensive and informative. I recently got a good deal on FB marketplace on this exact model with only 80 battery cycles and in near mint condition and I love it! I have used almost every version of m1 Macs including the m1 iMac and even the new m2 air 13.6 inch but tbh, I don't really need that kind of power.. not even close, the only thing that I really preferred with the m1's or m2's is the crazy insane battery life but like you said in this video, the 2019 MacBook Pro 16 battery life really isn't anything to laugh it.
Just picked the exact version he was reviewing up too - mine had 140 battery cycles! I’m gobsmacked at how well it works in happy I purchased it - it’s refurbished and in exquisitely perfect condition. Not to be sniffed at. I’m a purveyor of older technology anyway - so this is a perfect addition to my MBP Early 2011 and 2017 13.3 inch devices. I’m totally impressed!
Bought this computer when it first came out and still use it to this day. I don't have a heavy workload for it. I use it for coding, light video editing, and youtube/netflix. I hated the touch bar at first but slowly grew on me as time went by. You can definitely hear the fans kick on, I hear it daily on zoom calls
AGREED! I just bought an M3 Pro 14" with the 18GB ram and 1TB. It's sick, I like it. BUT I cannot justify the upgrade from my 2019 16" MBP i7. It's really good still. I do real estate deals, some Canva design work and some video editing. Basically short form video 5-10minutes. No one is trying to buy my 16" for $750. (Thing is mint, bought it new and it was like $3400). For the marginal increase in performance (for me). It's hard for me to eat that loss...
I just bought a core i9, 1tb, 4gb 5500m Gpu MacBook Pro. It’s an amazing machine and is just as powerful as my brothers m1 MacBook Pro he bought at launch

Good review, bought one a few days back, excited to hear the speakers. Another advantage over the M1 air: 500 nits brightness on the 2019 pro 16 vs. only 400 on the M1 air.
Just bought myself a 2019 i9 32GB RAM, 5600m GPU and 1TB storage. Those are sick specs.. and just for 875,- euros! Will last me a good 3-5 years and for that price it’s hard to beat
These 16 inch 2019s are great value in 2019. Still plenty powerful for general use and the screen and speakers are better than the air and 13 inch pro models. On a budget are a great purchase if you can get one if few battery cycles and are mostly gonna use it plugged in.

A day ago I upgraded from a 2021 14" space gray to a 2021 16" space gray. I currently have both (14 inch will be sold or given to my mother soon) and my 2nd laptop I use is now the 14" and a late 2013 15". I'm really thinking about getting a 2019 16". I love the form factor.
i got this over the m1. i was getting both at similar prices. but the 16 inch beautiful screen and the speakers made me go for it. it does the things i want it to do very well and the multimedia experience is just unreal.
I agree. I just purchased the i9. They perform fine side-by-side. The M3 isn’t much quicker than the i-9 for practical purposes. it is 2024 and the only reason I’m not using my MacBook from 2015 is because the battery is bad and I just decided to get a new computer then pay the money for the battery. It’s a good upgrade. My 2015 lasted until now which is seven years. I’m hoping to get at least half of that out of the one that I just bought for 800 bucks

I've had mine since new, I still love the screen and speakers, but I really regret not selling this thing before M1 because of how much resale value it's lost It's not even enough to buy a new iPhone when I trade it in at Apple...
I had my mother get this one for her real estate business. More than enough power for her needs and a good price for an amazing 16” display. I would think she could get at least 7 years out of it even without the newest software updates, as long as she’s close to a wall outlet.
thanks for this. i'd love an M1 or M2 but can't justify the cost at the moment and need to replace my 2015 model with something a bit more beefy. by the way, the macbook's mic's sounded way better than whatever you were recording the rest of the video on!

I got a 2015 MacBook Air an 11.6” LCD, a 2.7GHz dual-core i5-5250U, 4GB DDR3, and 128GB SSD. I wanna upgrade to a 16” MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro, although the M3’s are out.
I just purchased this model from a reputable ebay retailer seller that sells refurbished Macs. I dislike the new look of the new MacBook pros. I was going to purchase the 15th h MacBook Air but I feel that it was made cheaply and it sounds like it’s chip will be replace shortly. I’ll save myself a few hundred dollars with this 16inch

I wanted at least 16gb of ram and 256 storage seemed small. To get what I felt comfortable with in a newer MacBook vs getting an excellent condition 2019 with an i9, 16gb ram, and 1tb ssd for around $750 on Amazon was amazing, glory to God. Really nice video! Exactly what I was looking for :) One question though, do you think for me as a university student, the M1 13.3" Pro is the better choice? Most of the time I am just looking at Excel, Word and PowerPoints, browsing the Web, watch Netflix and generally using it as a main PC so I would like to know if the battery life is sufficient enough in the MBP 16" to last me a whole day without needing to charge doing light work. Is it compareable to new Windows Laptops or is it much less? Both machines will set me back around 850 - 950€ used, however, the M1 Pro "only" comes with 8GBs of RAM, 256GB of storage and the small 13 inch screen, while the 16" has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage and the much nicer bigger screen. Thanks for the support! To answer your question, it seems that you don’t use your laptop for demanding tasks, so the 8GB of memory on the M1 Air/Pro should be enough. If you’re fine with 256GB of storage, then getting a M1 Air/Pro is probably the best option for you due to its power efficiency, amazing battery life, and longer software support. Hope this helps

Thanks for the great video! I do have a question maybe you can help me with. It's regarding HDR support not only on UA-cam, but the streaming services, too. That is an important feature that i want. I saw that your unit doesn't support HDR. Apple's site is confusing me. It's listing HDR10 and Dolby Vision as features in various devices, both MacBooks (going back to 2018 models through the current models) and several iPad models. Yet I've read that only the iPad Pros get HDR in the total iPad lineup. Im currently trying to decide on the iPad Pro 12.9 (M2) adding the Magic Keyboard and Pencil, or the "right" MacBook. The current 14 and 16 Pros fit what i want but they are way out of my budget, so I'm totally fine with an older model. I would like the Touch Bar, if possible. My use case is regular browsing, major UA-cam watching (HDR support), streaming some of the services (again, HDR if possible), I'm wanting to learn how to do light video editing, forgot to add, I want great sound on any device i choose. I'm a lifelong Windows user, Android phone user, but I've never used a MacBook so I need a basic tutorial for a Windows user converting to MacOS, if i go with a MacBook. I'm already comfortable using iPadOS. I'm so sorry that this is so long but you sound like the perfect person to get advice from, in my situation. Again, loved the video. 😊
Hi! Unfortunately as far as I’m aware Apple didn’t add HDR support to any of their laptops until 2021, so the cheapest option for a HDR MacBook would be the 14 inch M1 MacBook Pro (2021) which currently go for around $1,300 refurbished/used. It’s honestly still a more than capable machine today, outclassing most PC laptops of its price range both by performance and battery life. But the iPad Pro 12.9 is also a fantastic option if you care about portability and don’t mind being a bit restrained by iPadOS. They’re both great devices for your use cases and it all depends on which form factor you prefer.

But the 2019 16" MBP has one major flaw it doesn't stop throttling the Intel chip on it is so hot that Apple nor Intel didn't manage to solve the problem
Absolutely do not. Keep your iPad Pro. iPads are getting more powerful everyday, and you can even edit videos with Final Cut Pro on them. The M1 chip is miles ahead of any Intel MacBook, and if you have a Magic Keyboard, you can basically use your iPad as a laptop 99% of the time.
@@berkleywish9295 I like how you just dismissed me as “not real iPad user” lmao. As long as you’re not doing anything too complicated an iPad Pro is more than enough for average users. You also didn’t elaborate on why the iPad is “hard to use”.
If you want 32G/1TB/dedicatedGPU, without remortgaging your home, they're hard to beat.

MacBook m1 air or this

It's pretty good. Not M1/M2 MacBook level but can definitely last you a day of moderate usage with no problems
