Seven, or Se7en, whichever mood Im in
Probably The Social Network. The Mix of Fincher's direction and Aaron Sorkins writing turns into such an immersive experience
This is very much my favorite Fincher film. He's done some other great ones but I feel like this one has the greatest artistic merit. The most important messages.
Great reaction, I love seeing people see this for the first time and how soon they realize what's going on with the ... protagonist? Main character...s.
Years ago I bought project mayhem t-shirts...the one that's survived the longest says "His name is Robert Paulson."
9:50 ever heard of Lorena Bobbitt?
This one but se7en is amazing and Gone Girl made me angry.
She already knew the first rule?! Ok WHO TALKED?!!
It’s worse than that, she knows the first TWO rules!
@@kevinmassey1164 mb 3 rule?
@@yanetylerderdenif its your 1st night, you have to fight
Talked about what buddy?🤨
I love the fact that the biggest shock came from finding out who Robert Paulson was! 🤣
i love that every post about meatloaf passing had a copy paste of his name was robert paulson in the comments... iconic role
Most people don’t figure it out that early. I really like how guessing that twist didn’t ruin it for you, rather it just brought you an appreciation for it from a different angle. Plenty of things strongly hint at what’s actually going on through most of it, though it can be cryptic. Well, I do think a lot of people catch those hints, but wave it away as their mind just coming up with nonsense to try to make sense. You didn’t doubt yourself about it. Also, you’re observant and clever. 😉
Or they already are aware of the twist and are just pretending they don't know
@@greekmillennial4540 You don’t need to be a scientist to predict this plot twist. I didn’t even know about the twist and I predict it too, it isn’t that hard.
There’s so many clues since the beginning of the movie but when it’s most in your face is with Edward Norton and Marla interaction in the house. I had suspicions before those scenes but after those interactions that’s when I was 95% sure that it was a split personality.
Psycho, LOTR, Fight Club, Shutter Island, The Shinning, The Machinist, Primal Fear, Split, Moon Knight, etc, split personality is nothing new, and Fight Club is one of the easiest ones to guess the twist, if anything I say that Shutter Island twist is harder than Fight Club.
Glad I read the comments first. Nothing is less entertaining than watching a reaction video for a movie with a twist like this & they figure it out 🤷♂️ To me, it just makes the whole video pointless to watch because I watch for the reaction.
@@matthew6427 exactly. It’s all a little too convenient how they always figure it out first try. I’d still watch if they said it was a rewatch but too many people act like it’s the first time and also some how know every plot point before it happens….
Just because you can't figure it out doesn't mean it's impossible :)
Fun Fact 2: In preparation for the twist, every scene Brad filmed, they would film another take with Edward as Tyler to decide what scenes they would use for the Twist.
Really? That's a really neat fact, thank you!
David Fincher is a genius. If you have not seen "Seven" you should just watch it immediately. Fight Club blew me away back in the day, I did not see the twist coming at all, I love Marla, but she was just not a reliable source of information during the movie for me. 🤣 Fight Club is still a top5 movie of all time for me (the others being Pulp Fiction, Terminator 2, Schindlers List and Interstellar).
wdym not a reliable source of information, she's a vital part of the movie.
Marla plays a huge part in the conclusion because she’s the reason he stopped going to the groups and then he started fight club and most of the shit he does is for her
@@sawyerz007 Thank you for misunderstanding and stating the obvious. I only meant she was not a reliable source of information for me to see the twist coming. Like Verowak said, her confusion early in the movie was a big hint but on my first watch when I was 16 or something she was just a confused and broken person to me.
"I am jack's complete lack of surprise"
This and Shrek are my favorite movies
and u watch them both. Thank you!
"You're a wizard, Harry."
This was stated by Anakin Skywalker's childhood friend to him right before his pod race in Episode 1.
No, it was stated by Inigo Montana before he fought Count Rugen, which was just an homage to the Children of Men scene that showed an inflatable pig attached to the smokestacks of Battersea Power Station... like duh!
The beginning flashes were "Subliminal Tylers", the doctor telling Jack he doesn't know what real pain is, the men's support group leader's speech on what he sees in men in the room, even Marla walking out a church trying to hit rock bottom, is where Tyler's nihilist philosophy came. Since the beginning Jack thought he "slept" but just woke up as Tyler.
His name is Robert Paulsen
I would suggest The Game with Michael Douglas. Its a crazy film.
THIS comment right here wins. In that couple year time frame The Game and Fight Club were on different levels to everything else.
I've not heard of that one before, but interested
The Game is awesome!
The Narrator (you noticed a few times that we're never told his name until he realizes that he is Tyler) didn't shoot himself in any lethal way. He aimed the shot out through his cheek, avoiding the mandible joint and all the major blood vessels in the neck. He wasn't trying to die, he was confirming that he didn't need Tyler to be an outside force. He was killing his last remaining delusion, who was The Narrator.
Yeah but since he pulled the shot his 90% commit pushes Tyler way down, but the final shot of the frame of Tyler style reveal we see he is still buried somewhere within. 🤔
Another interesting fact: Our guy is nameless, and credited as narrator, and Brad Pitt's character is known as Tyler Durden, right? As most split personality disorder in cinema, the splitted persona has a different name, right? RIGHT? EXCEPT, Edward Norton's character's name IS Tyler Durden. Because you can see the fligh tickets are on Tyler Durden's name and you need id/passport to use it. And he said to Marla in the beginning of the movie as his real name only as we viewers didn't hear due to bus passing cut. This is an interesting twist to most split personality disorder trope, as most splitted personas are in different name. But in this, actually our character is so alienated to himself that his projected new identity has the real name but his self lost his name, maybe due to lack of friends, real relationships etc , not many people calling his name.
You are the fastest reactor to figure it out that I've seen so far. Crazy, and I've seen many react to this movie. The earliest I've seen a reactor catch it was when the narrator was talking to Tyler when he was in the basement with Marla there("this conversation is over"). Man, you figured this out so dam early! lol
I feel like a lot of people probably assume Marla is crazy, so it's fine if she acts weird
"My eyes are open", for those who missed it (I think Verowak is way more on top of this movie than most people usually are in their first viewing), he's saying that he's awake now and he's not letting Tyler control his life anymore. Seems like a lot of reacts to this movie that just goes way over everyones' heads. Anyway, proud of Verowak for seeing through it all so early in the film, because I sure didn't as a 14yo boi 20 years ago
I don't read it that way. Tyler isn't bad he is a part of himself he has been repressing. He has led him away from living a life without meaning. The final step is accepting that he is Tyler. Once he does that there is no need to hide behind an imaginary persona. His now takes responsibility for his actions. When asked by Marla who shot him, he replies "I did".
I remember when Meat Loaf died, social media was flooded with people posting "His name was Robert Paulson." because of this movie. A nice little viral way to eulogize a legand.
That's one of the good things about the internet, it's definitely heartwarming to see how many people have been impacted by others
FYI, yes, you could call a pay-phone back. There were dial-back codes. And the reference to the "cut off x and throw out the window" was a real life case called Lorena Bobbitt that made headlines at the time, I believe 1993.
The payphones that I had in town all said that they can't be called. I thought all payphones were like that lol
Surprised the comment section doesn't have all the usual revelations:
"We have the exact same briefcase." Literally.
When the airport parking guy is talking to him, he looks at Norton and calls him "Mr. Durden."
After the car crash, even though Tyler was driving, they pull Norton from the driver's side.
When they're in the car, there's a POV shot that appears to be Norton trying to grab the wheel from Tyler, but it's actually just the driver's left hand struggling against his right hand.
There's a small sign on the payphone that rings that says "No Incoming Calls."
The reason Tyler is wearing gloves when he's about to burn Norton's hand is not for protection. It's because he doesn't have the burn until he gives it to Norton. So we just assume he did it to himself earlier, but he's just showing Norton the damage that just happened.
I salute you for the first UA-camr I found that actually 100% sure knew what was the big twist before. There were 2-3 other UA-camrs who had the thought, but werent sure till it came out, but you were 100% sure all the time and already started to see the small hints. Respect!
I loved the movie even more after I realized that! It's such a well made movie
@@VerowakReactsI can imagine, yeah! But for sure take the time for a rewatch, actually you COULD make a video out of you rewatching the movie and then be more like more into seeing the hints all over.
@@VerowakReacts Yeah, quickly distract from the point by giving the movie false praise. Don't even acknowledge how smart you'd have to be. I see right through you, faker.
This is my favourite movie because it rages a lot against consumerism and how much of society is based on materialism and appearances. Tyler is obviously bad but the initial perspective he offers made me look at the world a lot differently. Plua the story is intensely sad, how men feel so disenfranchised and unable to express themselves they feel they need to resort to physical violence to feel anything.
well physical violence in itself isn’t a bad thing unless used unjustly. It’s more about how emasculated society has become, and how men’s natural aggressiveness is tampered down by society. Fight club offers a release. But in offering that release you can take advantage of disenfranchised men. You become their savior, you become their religion.
This movie predicted the coming rise of incels and incel culture
One thing I find interesting about this movie, is that it seems more appreciated, than it was back then;
When it first grew popular, many people talked about it as some kind of power fantasy for edgy boys who wanted to rebel against the world or become a cooler version of themselves or something.
But now, people seem to just see it as a good story!
Very interesting how movies are seen differently throughout the years. The story is just fantastic and the movie so well done
Happy you liked the movie all the way even though you found out quite quickly what was happening. I think the bullet wound just went through the throat/cheek angle. Suicide by gun do misses if the angle is wrong and doesn't hit the brain.
That makes sense, I just thought he would bleed out somewhat quickly 😂
It's really fun seeing you make the connection to references and memes as you're watching movies. This was definitely my favorite movie as a rebellious teen. I've probably seen it dozens of times and I still notice new things every time I see a reaction to it.
The first peculiar thing Marla said that seemed to be the first indicator was the night she and Tyler were balling loudly in the nearby room and the protagonist listens in. Tyler opens the door and asks if he wanted a crack at her and Marla asks who he was talking to. Why would she not know he was in the building, since she called him
One of the greatest films of the era.
It really is!
1999 was one of the best years for movies. At least 3 stunning movies came out. American Beauty, Fight Club and the Matrix.
16:41 The original line was "I want to have your abortion" but the studio forced Palahniuk to change it. He agreed but only under the condition that they had to accept whatever he changed it to. So he made it worse. And HB Carter, who is English, didn't know what "grade school" was and was angry when she found out the meaning of what she had said.
The entire IMDB trivia section is fascinating, btw. It is full of all the little easter eggs you probably missed. Also, the original casting for this movie was Matt Damon for Norton's character, Reese Witherspoon for Marla, and Russell Crowe for Tyler Durden. Which means this movie was almost terrible.
Yeah most of those actors feel way too clean to have been cast in Fight Club. (Except maybe Russell Crowe but even then I don't see him as Tyler, a bit player in the background of Project Mayhem maybe, but not Tyler).
Wow! I don’t think I’ve EVER seen anyone figure out the twist of this movie so early on!
Fair play you caught the twist early. I was totally caught off guard and didn’t catch it to the reveal. On subsequent watching you see the clues. Like never getting Nortons name. And the fact they had the same briefcase
I've watched quite a few reactions to Fight Club and only one other guessed early, but NOWHERE near this early. Amazing reaction!
Thank you! The movie was so great, I can't wait to watch it all with the knowledge that I have now lol
I like the theory that Marla is also in the narrators mind
Interesting theory but in both the book and the movie, members of project mayhem kidnap and bring her to Tyler/the narrator
Not sure if you recognized who played Robert Paulson, it was Meatloaf. (lead singer of the rock band meatloaf)
I don't know the rock band. I just know people know Meat Loaf, I don't 😄
@@VerowakReacts You've probably heard a song from him just didn't know who it was. He also had a role in the classic cult movie "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
If I saw a person punching himself in a parking lot, I'd walk away. 😂
YES!! I would NOT approach them at all 🤣
I would, too. But I gotta admit, the people that DONT walk away are probably twisted enough to join the first days of Fight Club.
And the reward for the fastest I have seen anyone figure out the truth about tyler goes to Verowak!
I was about to say it kinda spoiled the movie but then as you continued to watch I felt like you apriciated stuff more rather then as I falsly thought would find it dull. Ty for another great reaction, and some fun trivia info.
"Verowak" sounds like you're invoking a Demon 😈
I think I appreciated the movie even more once I figured it out lol! It was so neat to see how they showed the hints. It was really such a great movie
Dick, I think it sounds more like 10,000 Maniac's song, "Hey, Jack Kerouac". When she posts new posts, in my mind (and sometimes out loud), I sing, "hey that Verowak", and then try to figure out if I dare adapt more lines of the song.
ua-cam.com/video/5nSFFL3dBA4/v-deo.html
There was this other reactor I saw who guessed if Tyler & the narrator is the same person when the narrator says we have the exact same briefcase during the airplane scene. Like WTF.
Fight Club is my fav movie to watch reactors on UA-cam react to. Honestly them guessing so early kinda ruins it & I stop watching lol.
Good for her to figure it out so early but it'll never be as good as the mindblown moment you get when you figure it out when the narrator says we're the same person.
I met Jared Leto at a concert in 1999. I didn't know who he was until I saw this movie. It took me a while to realize that he is an actor and has an awesome band. He sold me a demo cd for 5 bucks. I still have it.
That CD is probably worth some money to a 30 seconds fan.
@@mr.kinkade2049 Yeah, I'd really like to hang on to it though. I doubt that it's worth thousands, which is what it would take for me to sell it. I really like their music, but mostly from the their first album. It's a shame that it didn't get radio time back then, not that I heard anyway.
One of the best movies of all time. The plot twist at the end killed it. Had a lot of fun with your reaction. ❤
Cannot agree more. Definitely one of the best movies of all time, it's so damn awesome
"You're a wizard Harry!" Ummm, let's see....Back To the Future?? 😂
Right before he told Harry about needing 1.21 Gigawatts to fly his broom!
David Fincher’s Zodiac is maybe my favourite movie of this century, which doesn’t go down well in ice breaker scenarios.
The whole a woman could cut you in your sleep thing is because the story of the Bobbitts John and Loraina
I’ve seen enough of your reactions to know that given how ridiculously smart you are, you’d figure it out well ahead of time. Even before I clicked, I would have bet on it. 😂
This is the only movie where Helen Bonham-Carter isn't the craziest person in the film.
I've only seen her in this and Harry Potter. It seems I need to look up what else she's been in lol
@@VerowakReacts Let's just say that she gets type-cast.
Fun fact, at 35:07 (In the video here) when Tler falls down the stairs, they did this scene like 10-20 times, but the one they used was the very first take
I wonder how many people who watched the movie in theatre or on a DVD like I did understood the twist prematurely... ... This movie is better when watched in a single shot.
Hi Miss Verowak, I hope all is well in Canada!🙂You did a great job figuring out the twist so soon!🏆Great reactions to this well made and acted drama, Miss Verowak!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Hello there! Thank you, all is well in Canada, I hope all is well with you!!
It's such a great movie and I'm glad to have finally watched it!
Wow. I've never seen anyone realize the twist that early. Big 🧠 Verowak. 🤣👍
I'm pleasantly surprised you still enjoyed it so much despite knowing so early.
I think I enjoyed it more after I figured it out. It was so fun to see how it was done
You're spooky scary smart, y'now that? 😂😂😂
Brilliant watch-along with you, thanks for that!
Thanks! I felt so confused for so long. I didn't know if I was misunderstanding or if it was suppose to be confusing
You have a magnificent memory!
I've noticed this in your other reactions as well as this one.
Thats why you figured it out so early. All the hints are there but most people only notice them on a second viewing.
Ozzie and Harriet were husband and wife actors, Ozzie and Harriet Nelson, who, along with their sons, David and Ricky, basically played a fictionalized version of their family on the sitcom, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. People often mention them when they’re giving an example of a seemingly-“perfect” family, because they seemed to have no flaws on their show. Ricky became a teen heartthrob on the show and had a simultaneous career as a popular and influential rock ‘n roll and rockabilly singer (just about every guitarist in every big 1960’s rock band has said that Ricky’s lead guitarist, James Burton, was a huge influence on them). His identical twin sons, Gunnar and Matthew, were in the hit late-80’s/early-90’s arena rock band, Nelson. On Full House, Stephanie had a poster of them- in all their long, golden-maned glory- on her bedroom wall.
Fun Fact: A form of Napalm can also be made from Styrofoam and Gasoline, mixed together until it becomes a gooey liquid. Once in this form it can be lit on fire without it being easy to be extinguished.
Wow so easy! Clearly the quote was said by Peeta Melark in Lord of the rings, when he was recruited to be a Jedi! 😂😂😂
Peeta has the patience to be a Jedi!
You figured it out with no effort, good job! Love the excitement!
"You're a wizard, Harry" is a quote from Sally in "When Harry meet Sally"
*met
Sorry your wrong, it's actually a quote from Austin Powers: Goldmember
You figure out twists so early in the plot of these reactions! It’s like you’re using the Force 😂. Good work!!
Perhaps even the dark side of the Force 🤫
Really impressed on how clever you are. Predicted the actual twist so much earlier and appreciating the movie even more for it :) Usually I tell people to watch it 3 times just to catch everything, but I feel you don't need that at all :D
You figuring it out so far in advance is great
What a refreshing reaction. There are good movie watchers and bad movie watchers, and you are an amazing movie watcher. The last reviewer i watched was quite the dullard😂
You are the only person I've seen figure itbout so early. Great reaction loved it
Thank you! I'm glad I figured it out, I was getting so confused
I've seen alot of these reactions and you were the 1st to figure it out before the hotel scene reveal.
"I don't even know what I was expecting, but not this." Until the very last frame of the movie.
I love how the story was told. Just an amazing movie
The way your face drops when Marla comes in, happy to see her, then reacting to her cancer line with smoke coming out of her mouth. 😅
Such a 180! I was excited to see her... then not so much 😒
@@VerowakReacts
Yeah. The humor is pretty dark in the movie sometimes. The way your face dropped when she said the grade school line was hilarious as well. It’s so just fkn disturbing 😅
But by the way, I also meant to comment yesterday how impressed I was with your ability to sniff out the plot twist. You honestly have great insight, and it’s fun to watch people who are clever and attentive do their best to understand the story. You caught onto so many things it took me multiple viewings to even notice 😅
But fyi, in case you haven’t come across it, an interesting theory I’ve found people discussing is whether Marla is an “alter” as well. Some theorize that Marla represents the narrator’s distorted ideas of what “feminine” is, and Tyler is his distorted ideas of what “masculine” is, with the two of them fighting back and forth for control of the narrator throughout the movie with Marla eventually winning out.
I think it’s an interesting theory pondering how many of the people in the Paper Street house were actually real versus possibly other alters he had created. For me, I tend to think Bob was a real person, but many of the others in the house like Jared Leto also had the vagina-looking chemical burn on their hand, which both Tyler and the narrator had, so I tend to think anyone who had one of those was also an alter. 🤔
And as some extra proof for you, I noticed that you first mentioned your guess that “maybe he’s hallucinating” when the narrator was interacting with Marla, before he had even met Tyler.. 👀
You definitely figured this out way faster than most people. I’m impressed.
Just wait until I miss a really obvious twist in a future movie 🤣
as a 19 year old male that tends to be more softspoken, me and my brother beat each other up sometimes, he's a couple years younger than me, but he's 6'2 and jacked whereas i'm only 5'10, sometimes it feels to fight something
@24:00 "WTH? That's like brilliant but messed up!" You perfectly described the entire movie.
Basically yeah! :D
😅I LOVED watching your reaction! This is one of my top five, easily. And wow! You're smart as hell. I've never seen anyone figure out the character split so early! Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it
I can see why it would be top five, it was such an amazing movie! I enjoyed the movie way more after I figured out what was going on 🤣
@@VerowakReacts yes! Sadly for me, I didn't know it was happening until Tyler said to himself, "we're the same person." Oi! I can be absolutely thick! I rarely rewatch movies but I pull this one out every couple of years or so. I try to catch all of the flashes without looking them up. Have a great evening!
@@katiegwynn4495 I'll definitely be rewatching this every now and then! Thank you, you have a great evening too!
You got the twist earlier than me, very impressed.
This is one of my fav movies of all time. I love how you kept trying to focus on finding the "glitches" in the movie early of Tyler. Not many pick up on that right away.
I would forget about the glitch, and it would pop up again to remind me of it 😁
Wow you got the twist way before me and other reactors! 😜😂😎🇬🇧
Fun reaction! You always put together twists it’s so fun to watch!! And I enjoyed Zodiac by the same director!
I've heard amazing things about Zodiac! And plus Jake Gyllenhaal is in it, and he's been in so many great movies. I'll have to move it up my list now lol
“You’re a wizard, Harry……with that .44 Magnum.” - from Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry Part VII
Did I win?
You're 100% correct!
Amazing.......... I haven't seen anyone catch on so quickly.
I got it. I got it. I got it.................Oh sh*t I lost. What a great line.
Fun Fact: When Brad Pitt and Ed Norton were hitting golf balls at the house, they actually were drunk in real life.
FYI "Ozzie and Harriet" referred to in the film was an American sitcom during the 1950's that depicted kind of an idealized nuclear family, hence the "normalcy" that is opposite of they way the narrator and Tyler Durden live.
This movie is incredibly based, even by the impossibly high standards of the 1990s.
Another bit of trivia, on the bus when Brad Pitt was mocking the male body in the Calvin Klein ad, it was an ad that he himself was the model
ofc, your theory about tyler and the narrator (edward norton) was true :D i was really curious whether youll be able to figure it out! nice one
The fact that you figured it out made the reaction so interesting, love it
I'm so glad I found out Edward Norton's character's name when I was reading through IMDB. I kept thinking I missed it during the movie or something 🤣
45:00 the twist, intuited.
Fincher makes good movies. He also made Seven, and Zodiac.
It's cool that you picked up on the cues. I had no clue.
Leader Partners in Positivity (Terri played by Christina Cabot) in Fight Club is also Thaddeus Ross’s right hand woman in The Incredible Hulk.
The only other author I can think of saying a movie is better is Steven King and the Mist, he really loved the changing to the end that they did in the ending of the movie, the novel to this movie is well worth a read though.
That's one movie I've been wanting to watch but could never decide if I read the book first or watch the movie. Now that I have a reaction channel, I'll watch the movie first then read the book lol
If Hagrid is who you channeled in that quote, I'll guess _The Sorcerer's Stone_
It is, yes :D
That was great!!! RIP Robert Paulson
Thank you!
I've never seen the movies or read the books, but memes alone have ingrained it into my brain that Hagrid said, "Yer a wizard, Harry!" No idea which movie, though.
As for why Fight Club (for these purposes, we aren't discussing Project Mayhem) got started, that ties in to discussions of masculinity of the era. Without condoning or condemning, some of the arguments were that men were raised to be aggressive, but never given proper outlets. You aren't a _real man_ unless you physically defend your woman. You aren't a _real man_ if you let someone insult you. You need to be the "Alpha" of the room, dominating everyone with a look. The argument continues that even though all that is encouraged, there are no safe outlets for men to express that aggression.
This ties in to other emotions. Again, without condoning or condemning, the arguments are that men aren't allowed to have any emotions, and as a corollary, men should put up with anything women say or do to them, no matter the grievousness of the insult or the despicable the place hit.
Now, the story of _Fight Club,_ specifically, was supposed to be a condemnation of "toxic masculinity", but it sort of fell short. The movie was mishandled by the marketing department, but that's neither here nor there. The entire story was misunderstood and seen as something of a clarion call for men to make spaces for themselves to _be_ "real men".
I offer no personal value judgement on any of that; those are the facts and the context as I understand them.
loved the way you worked it out, great job... I had no clue lol ((
The quote was from the film The Empire Strikes Back and was said by Willy Wonka
I must have been distracted and missed Willy Wonka's appearance in that movie! I'll have to rewatch it 😂
I didn't realize that Fincher made most my favorite movies until after the fact. :)
Quote of the day answer : Dirty Harry, with Clint Eastwood. 😂
Well of course! Though I do have to watch that movie at some point 😂
fanTASTIC JOB figuring that out so soon. You're one of the first I've seen put all the clues together...great react!!! *edit* You really need to rewatch this one! Se7en and The Game are two other movies by Fincher that I love!
Thank you! :D I reacted to Se7en at the end of last year, a great way to end the year and start a new one 😂 The Game is still on my list to watch though
@VerowakReacts I rewatch The Game at least once a year, you're gonna love it!
RIP Meatloaf, aka Robert Paulson.
She's really smart and pays attention to the film. Figured it out because they give some good clues but most of us miss them and don't relate them to previous happenings.
Should watch thrillers like twelve monkeys, the prestige, mulholland drive
Kudos for figuring out the twist quicker than most. I read the book before I saw the movie, so I knew going in...
I'm tempted to read the book, but the author said the movie is better than his book 🤣
@@VerowakReacts in that case, I'd recommend one of his other novels. Survivor and Invisible Monsters are my favorites.
I believe it was the T-rex in Jurassic Park that said "you're a wizard Harry."

Barely an inconvenience. 🤣
[If you know, you know.] 😁
I'm going to need you to get all the way off my back about that one.
That Hairy wizard guy quote is from that movie about the rings and the guy, right? You know, the one with the mountain. It's like a Marvel movie or something.
Fight club is veeeery slightly supernatural. The protagonist is basically a modern messiah, thats why he survives the gunshot, while in the books it is straight up stated that he sees angels iirc. Although there is a theory that light and angels are the asylum and its staff.
if you like other good or improved adaptations of books/stories, you might like "Cloud Atlas" (2012) based on the 2004 novel by David Mitchell, and "Predestination" (2014) which is based off a 1959 Robert A Heinlein short story "-All You Zombies-". "Total Recall" (1990, and 2012 remake) is based on Philip K Dick's short story "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale".
It's not the movie you can't talk about, it's the club
You killed it. I love your reaction videos. Great insight. 👏 Try Bad Times at The El Rio.
Thank you!!! I've never heard of that movie before 🤔
It’s a great movie that’s often overlooked.
I also dislike the gunshot part at the end. I understand it to mean that Norton shot through his own cheek (so no vital organs or anything), but in his mind, it hypothetically went straight through Pitt's head? I think it kind of deflates the ending slightly because it doesn't really make sense how it's shown, since it looks like it goes right through the back of Pitt's head. The only way I suppose it could make sense, is if Norton envisions Pitt's half of his personality to have a head on Norton's left shoulder (1 body, 2 heads - or like a devil on his shoulder). So when the shot goes out of his left cheek, it goes into Pitt's head. That could work, but they never say anything about 2 heads being on the same body (that I'm aware of).
In the book (by Chuck Palaniuk) "The Narrator" (Ed's character) read the titles of several other of "Jack's Organs" books, one of which was Jack's Thalamus, the center of the brain responsible for imagination. The Narrator, after saying "my eyes are open" points the gun to destroy his thalamus, and end Tyler Durden forever.
This is the only thing that Fincher missed in his brilliant film adaptation, one which has caused much confusion for so many viewers. I wonder what happened to that little bit of footage that would have made this film a perfection!
One of the craziest things about the book is that the narrator's voice is never in quotes, so the reader doesn't know if the narrator is talking to someone or thinking about something, and at times people respond to something in the last paragraph, and the reader is left to guess what part of the narration is being responded to. And if memory serves, "My eyes are open." is the only thing that the narrator ever utters in quotes.
Pure genius!
In the book it's Jane and Joe's organs in Reader's Digest, the word "thalamus" does not occur in the book, that's not what the thalamus does, suicide was Tyler's idea because he wanted to be a martyr, Tyler disappears before the narrator shoots, the narrator doesn't point his gun at any particular part of his brain, he's simply trying to off himself at the perfect moment, and Tyler isn't gone forever, he's suppressed with medication until Fight Club 2. Other than that, spot on comment.
Thanks for the lesson!
As always:
1) shoot from the hip on the internet.
2)wait for the shrapnel!
3)...win?
The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet is an American television sitcom that aired on ABC from October 3, 1952, to April 23, 1966, and starred the real-life Nelson family. After a long run on radio, the show was brought to television, where it continued its success, initially running simultaneously on radio and TV. In terms of seasons, it was the longest running live-action sitcom in U.S. television history until It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia surpassed it on December 1, 2021 (though it still retains the record in terms of total episodes produced: 435).
