I've been using the Giro Eclipse (Matte white/silver) for one year, and it's been perfect. My shades stow easily and securely in front, so I think any issues people have stowing shades in this helmet are likely down to some combination of helmet size and the size and design of their shades. Prior to the Eclipse, I wore a Bell Z20, which had amazing ventilation. I think my Eclipse ventilates just as well. Sure, it suffers a bit on long climbs, but it also reduces heat from direct solar irradiance. In other words, I don't get as much heat from the sunlight beating down on my shaven pate as other helmets given the smaller vented area. My only grip is that Giro didn't offer the Eclipse in the "Ghost" colorway of my Bell Z20. The silver in that colorway had a reflective component, and that's a nice safety bonus when out on the roads in low light.
Nice review and comparison. I had Giro helmet for years and liked the way it looked and fit. I tried a few others as well like Uvex and Kali. My older Giro was not of the upper tier so maybe not fair comparison. But of the three I like my Kali In the summer months when the venting airflow is important. The Giro aires looks pretty nice a probably is just as good but I am not sure about those thin plastic fasteners. I use my helmet for road, mtb, and e-skate
I've chosen my helmets based on how well they fit my head. I've had some that didn't fit well, despite being the correct size for me. I've gone through 3 generation of the Specialized Align (not because it is the cheapest, but because it fits my noggin so nicely) and am now using a Giro Agilis.
Does the Aries look more compact on the head when compared to the Eclipse? Or are they the same footprint? I rather have a smaller profile than the Eclipse.
The aeries is slightly more compact with more vents than the eclipse. However the eclipse does make up for it in aero gains. Side by side though, the Aeries is less "bulky".
Im a Giro person myself, having 3 top of the range Atmos in different colours and one mid range cos I fancied grey/white, which all look awesome, fit perfect and have no issues what so ever but a week ago I thought I'd switch it up a little by trying ABUS Gamechanger 2 as I fancied the flip-flop blue, sam-ish as to your Giro but in high gloss finish. I am still a Giro fan but am a little miffed at the harness breaking like that, it looks like a weak point that really needs addressing.
i have the giro eclipse spherical in white and black color depending on my kit of the day. i have no hair so the ventilation part is not a thing for me. but if the price drops ill add a aries to my collection in a different colorway.
Sorry if I missed it but what size is that? This is the first helmet I ever try that doesn't fit me in a size medium. I put on a large and my head looked mega HUGE. For that reason I passed on this helmet and I really wanted it. The medium looked great but it was incredibly tight and I'm sure I had it all loosened up. I wonder why it came like that 🙁
Are the straps the same because they are not comfortable and suck up sweat and water. Not comfortable and straps /clip hasn't changed compared to other brands.
I'm a huge fan of Giro, been wearing only them for over ten years, but this helmet is hideous. The Aether, on the other hand, is a very nice looking helmet.
Thanks for the review. A visual side by side comparison is always good to see to gauge the width and height.
I’m a fan of the Aries- it’s a good looking, modern helmet!
The color scheme is pretty cool to choose from too! Thanks for checking it out.
Totally agree..definitely my next helmet..it has an aero fit

Great video, I love Giro's helmet. Thank's from Brazil!
Thanks for watching! They make great gear.

Thx for the info!!im getting aries now, thx😊😊

…by the way, a very informed presentation by you. Well done!

Always can change the retentions system for every Giro helmet, I have to change it for my Giro Aether, easy and fast

It's a medium. It can get tight on my head if I grow my hair out 😂
@@Veloworthy yeah see idk why they made it so small. I guess I'll have to look for a different option. Thanks for your response.
I agree. I had to go one size up when replacing my Aether with the Aries.
@@Veloworthy Can I ask how long is your circumference? Mine is 59,5cm (with long hair) could be fitted into an M?
What about the helios ?

Straps are the same as the others. They do make aftermarket sweat pads that help but you really have to stay on cleaning those straps.
Giro is having a pop-up offer where you get 15% off for signing up for emails
That retention system plastic breaking is concerning..

Giro makes great products. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
@@Veloworthy I agree with Fern. The butt-hole-on-the-front is not a good look, lol.
Literally just bought a new aether spherical very nice helmet.
I thought the broken retention system was just me, but I guess not...
Hopefully they can find a stronger system in the future!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yes straps should not break these days and for that price
Barely talks about the Aether
