- As one of America's first 'spy families', the Culper Ring played an influential role in the American Revolution. Yet their identities remained a mystery for centuries.
Gathering information for George Washington, a group of seemingly ordinary citizens - a farmer, a whaleboat captain, a pub landlord and a merchant - not only helped turn the tide of the war, but also shaped the world of espionage we know today.

I just finished binge watching TURN:Washington’s spy’s
What a great story!
We saw a very interesting Netflix program called “Washington’s Spies” that told some of this story.
Many thanks to the Culper Spies!
Everything was a secret , they were good! It wouldn't have been written down!
So “Turn” was based off of fact. 🤔
Yes, but it’s pretty inaccurate as well.
@@tav1754yeah unfortunately many historical accounts do become dramatized and either misconstrue so much or leave whole things out
My understanding from reading "Washington's Spies" is that the number 355 referred to "a lady", as in the generic noun lady. There was no specific "Agent355". IMHO, people want to fancify that such a female spy existed, and even create a whole shadowy life for her.
However, i could be wrong and certainly am no expert.
Does anyone know where I could read other documents supporting the existence of a real Agent355 ?
BTW, I think it is fabulous that the CIA today trains agents using some of the Culper spy ring techniques. Great work knows no time or age! 👍
Naming my kid talmadge after Benjamin tallmadge
