Your the first one I have seen that adjusted the rear site in the right direction which was to the left . in a lot of videos they make the mistake on the rear site adjustment of moving it opposite of what it SHOULD BE, you have it right thank you.

I made the mistake of ordering new sights for several of my guns, since I loved the way I was able to sight these much quicker when I tried them on a friends gun. The problem is that they dont offer different front sight heights, and I now have several guns that shoot fine at 7 to 10 yds, but drop off quite a bit after that. At 25yds, the drop is several inches. Take this into consideration when thinking about after market sights. The sights I have on my H&K have front sights ranging from 5mm to 7.5mm I think. So not only is wndage adjustable as on most sights, but you can dial in your distance as well.
@@MochaTater I practice at 10, 15, and 25 yards as a standard with my 1911. The pure challenge is enough, without the thought of engaging anything other than a paper (or frozen water bottle) target. If the situation changes, then one is better prepared.
Thanks man my 45 1911 Ruger was shooting to the right about as much as yours. Ill have to knock it over to the left a hair. I always assumed it was the set screw that adjusted the guns sight. Like you screwed it to the left or to the right to change the impact target.
Wouldn't it make sense to shoot a variety of ammunition before drifting the sights and for new shooters it may be a good idea to have another experienced shooter shoot the gun to verify.
This is was exactly what was wrong with my hellcat pro. as a right handed shooter I just ajust the rear sighs to the left and leave the front sight alone
On my sw40ve I'm shooting low and it's difficult to hit my target. I do have it down pretty well but I have to keep the front sight dot above the back sights even at 25 yards. I don't have this problem with any of my other guns except this one but it was purchased used. It's very aggravating to be honest and makes me dislike the gun. It also jams on occasion. I only paid $250 for it so it's not a big lose but I'd like to figure some way to make it more accurate
I def could be wrong but from my experience with my 40ve the trigger is my biggest issue. Since it's a cheaper plastic trigger with more pds than normal behind it I was pulling every shot. Maybe something someone else can get used to but I couldn't shoot my sdve straight to save my life. Coming from stock cz, and ppq triggers. And I'm not sure buying a new Apex trigger that cost half as much as the pistol itself is worth it.

Yes, if your are setting up new sights or another optic, to get a feel for where they are when you first mount them. Laser bore sighting system are meant to give you a general idea where to set your sights, but don't account for variances in things like ammo, ballistics, and other factors. So a trip to the range is still necessary for final sighting.

Lower front sight or higher rear sight. What wasn't really mentioned is distance though... A lot of people are sighting in their guns at like 7-10 yards for POA/POI. This means they will be hitting way high at 25 yards. If you have it sighted in at like 5 yards and it's hitting dead center, you probably want to adjust it so it's hitting low. Then as you take it farther out to 10-15 yards and longer, it should be getting more dead-on. The bullet is traveling upward the entire time trying to meet the line of the sights, until it reaches the point of downward arc. He is mainly showing windage adjustment as that is what is most important, and the elevation can be adjusted with a different hold at different distances.
Holy crap, Roy. Your two groups at 15 yards? If I shot that good, I'd be really proud of myself! I doubt I could group that good a foot away from the muzzle! 😂
Ken, if you have an adjustable rear sight, simply raise it. If not, you’ll need to instal a short front sight. Sometimes it pays to get a taller one, then file it down a tiny bit at a time as you slowly sight it in. What kind of a gun do you have? Roy
HOW DO YOU RELEASE THW FREAKING SET SCREW OMG 🤣🤣🤣🤣 My pt 1911 sights are so wildly off it seems like a prank, and from what i can tell the set screw is glued in place. It bent the allen wrench that was sent with it. cant figure out what im doing wrong. Is it not an allen wrench thats needed? Is my gun uniquely f^@#*%???
That’s common for them. It’s also metric, don’t forget. I’d use a heat gun (not a blow dryer, that doesn’t get hot enough), and heat up the rear sight. That will help to loosen any “lock-tite” type they might have used, and the heat also helps to expand and unlock threads sometimes. As it cools, keep trying to turn the screw. Also, a “T-Handle” type wrench helps a lot. I think it’s a 1.5mm size, but you should check that. Harbor Tools has inexpensive T-handle allen sets. Hope that helps. Roy H.

I know exactly what you mean by the t handle and I think that would be all the leverage I need. Considering that heat expands, If that doesn't work is it a poor idea to put the slide into the freezer to constrict the metals? Or would that risk making them too brittle?
Im a little late to the party and by no means an expert but Ive been told by a gun range master (Im not sure if he is an expert but Id give him some credibility and he makes sense) that most shooting occur at about 7 yards. If I were you Id adjust for around 7-10 yards since most instances of civilians engaging a hostile are in home invasions where the person is going to be on a few feet from you. Unless you are just going to shoot for sport then its up to you. Thats just my opinion though I claim to be no expert

Izzy Long fixed sights doesn't mean they can't be moved. Fixed sights are ones that can't be adjusted with the turn of a screw. These are fixed sights and must be adjusted with punches or special rigs.

I was hoping all sights were basically like this... i need to adjust my Ruger 1911 it shoots right like his and at first I thought I had to turn the screw I just didnt know which way... would you happen to know the way you turn it? Do I turn the screw in the direction I want to adjust it (like turn it to the left aka counter clock wise to shoot to the left) or the opposite way I want to adjust it. (In otherwords turning it clockwise to adjust it to the left)
MochaTater Your not totally wrong some sights are this way. A good way to tell is around the screw it will have a L or an R with arrows. Of it dosent have the L or R them it is just a set screw. Good luck
thought the purpose was to illustrate how to sight in pistol fixed sight......you did not....there was a screw in rear sight....AND you failed to show how to change front sight...you simply showed the most obvious adjustment without completing your stated mission.....no disrespect intended ....not to belabor my point you also grossed over point of verticle impact would change approx a full inch in only a matter of a few feet of extra travel...if you were extending POI say 50 ft. maybe you would notice a measurable drop ....which don't think , so but I grant the point .

Actually, unless a rear sight has the ability to be adjusted for windage AND elevation, they are called fixed sights. Hence sights sliding in dovertails (windage adjustable) are still called fixed sights since they can’t be adjusted for elevation unless you replace them with a sight of another height. Indeed, fixed sights on many revolvers like single actions, or any revolver with a groove for a rear sight, are also called fixed sighted guns. Now you know. Roy

I take it youre in law enforcement? I cant imagine engaging anybody further than 7ish yards let alone 25. Thats just me though.

It’s easier to file the top of the rear sight than to replace the far sight with a taller one.

Is there a way to adjust the sight picture? Instead of the sights covering the point of impact can it be lowered to be under the point of impact?
You can get a front Iron that is holo but for pistol shooting that is not how it works. you could in theory get a short iron front and do it that way.
What is the range of costs for the 940 shotgun
I just use Kentucky Windage, because this will change if you increase the distance you're shooting.

Can you just use this technique wit a laser bore sight as well in order to save a trip to the range?

Every shooter will have a slightly different sight setting.
Zero is different for everyone. But most are pretty close. But My hubby is a leftie and his is way off from mine.

That is not a fixed sight handgun. An example would be a Colt 1873.

"Fixed sights" are those of the type found on most snub-nose revolvers--not dovetailed! You just wasted my time.
