For years, as a Raider fan, all I heard from the media was, “Baker Mayfield, redemption story” and “Derek Carr, we have a license to be negative because reasons, (probably because he’s a Christian), even though Carr has always out-performed Baker. I don’t think the Raiders with Carr ever lost to the Browns with Baker, at least from what I remember. Carr lost to Baker when he became a Ram once. Carr would put up 4000 yards and still, no respect. Leading passer in Raider’s history. Media? So what. He’s in the division with Mahomes, Hebert and Russell they said, so he MUST be the fourth best QB in the AFC West. Nope. Carr beat Russell and Hebert all the time. Beat Mahomes a few times. It’s a team game though. They never mention that. Ever.

@@adrv5721. Yep. The criticism with Carr last year was ridiculous. These people really need to do some soul searching. There was so much negative groupthink. I was kicked off of 3 live podcasts last year simply for talking good about Carr. I wasn’t trashing anybody else. I was simply talking good about Carr and they would not have it. I and others tried to tell them the kind of player and man that Carr was but their groupthink would not allow them to hear any alternative thoughts. That is the very definition of groupthink. Look it up.
If they are doing that for a ball game, what other areas in their lives are they doing this? Think for yourselves people. Base your beliefs on logic and clear thought.

To Richs credit, he and maybe two others in all of media actually give the Saints real praise and coverage.
One thing I can tell you about Derek Carr is that I have followed his whole career from when he was first drafted by the Raiders and I am a HUGE Derek Carr fan.
But, one thing that he's been lacking in my opinion is just a nastiness. Like he was always a nice guy. But here's the thing.
The way the Raiders did him you can tell that he now has a major chip on his shoulder.
And beware of the athlete that has a major chip on his shoulder like Derek Carr.
It's good to see in a game like football.
Luckily, my number two team was always the Saints. So this is working out pretty well for me.
And, it looks like Gardener Minshew has found a home as well.
The Raiders under Lizard Skin Bowl Cut "Ownership" will ruin any QB. They are truly a trash Organization. McDumpsterfire was only a phase. Poor Organizational Leadership is their culture.
And then the way some of the Saints fans treated him last year too.
And Carr has mentioned that all the veterans on this team have an attitude with the way the season ended last year without a playoff birth.

Ever since i watched Derek Carr play at Fresno State I knew he could be great in the NFL! I am so glad he is finally in a system that utilizes his full potential and finally getting his flowers! 💯💯💯⚜️⚜️⚜️
Yep. Because even Gruden was way too conservative with Carr for the first couple of years. I remember complaining about that back then. Carr was the leading MVP candidate in 2016 and led the Raiders to a 12-3 record before breaking his ankle.
In 2016, Carr had 6 game winning drives with 5 of them being touchdown passing game winning drives, which is an NFL record. They beat the Texans during the season and lost without Carr to the Texans in the playoffs.
Carr is at his best when the coaches get out the way and he is winging it. He is at his best playing fast. Hence, that is why he has the most game winning drives since 2016 and the best record in OT among active quarterbacks.
He's been shyt for 11 seasons, one game now he's a possible great!!

James, I said “at least 12 wins” before the season. Everything I said about Carr and this offense flourishing under this new Kubiak system with their new offensive coaching staff and offensive line coach Benton fixing the offensive line under this system was right.
I also said last year that Carr will play 10 seasons with the Saints and finish his Hall of Fame career at the age of 41. He is the Saints franchise QB. I also said that when Brees and the Mannings convinced Carr to come to the Saints they were not thinking about him being a “bridge” QB. That is just a ridiculous take. All Baby Rattler is there for is insurance and future trade bait. I was right about everything else, so y’all might as well consider what I am saying about Carr’s future with the Saints.

If you take the games they absolutely should win: Denver, Carolina, Washington, Giants, Browns, that puts them at 7 wins. Of the remaining 10 games, if they can win half of them, that puts them at 12 wins. Keep in mind they are quite capable of winning any of them.

Nobody saw the Saint's resurgence coming. People laughed at me when I said Carr and the offense improved over the season and barely missed the playoffs. The games to watch coming up: Saints vs. Tampa Bay. That'll be for the division.
Carr wearing sleeves on the shirt LoL, but seriously though Carr deserves this hype. He put in the extra work to get on the same page with his team. We're winning and it's fun watching this season unfold for them. I'm with it.
Also to be fair, All those players were "on the roster" last year also and were miserable. It isn't outrageous to expect that to continue with minimal changes.

Count me as one of those fans of the Saints that was scratching my head and was doubting Derrick Carr. I am referring to the way I thought about his QB’ing skills. I was more convinced as ever of the importance of having an excellent QB to win in the NFL. FF’d to 2024. What has changed? Has Derrick Carr gotten any better? (Maybe) but I have re-evaluated what winning football teams need. A great offensive coordinator who can match his offense to the skills of his offense team he has. Derrick Carr is playing at an MVP level. He’s the same player but in a more dynamic system. Wow!! Do some QB’s deserve $40 Million/year? I’m all for a player getting what he can get. The Saints won last Sunday because the Kubiak our offense coordinator out coached the Cowboys. And the Saints defense was able to play with a lead and close the game out. The Cowboys should have been good enough to at least make the game a shootout. Didn’t happen. The Saints defense was better than the Cowboys offense. Period.
The Saints just needed spring cleaning and a play caller.

I watched ur whole video for the first time and I enjoyed it. I still want the clips to play longer b4 u react to it. I really think the Saints are going far this year. Keep the momentum going! Carr has had a year to work w/the receivers during the off season. and if u guys don't know, he works the whole off season with them. He got a lot of receivers paid while he was a Raider. Keep everything going around him and u will get there again. He's never had a system in place for more than a couple of years in his career. He's a student of the game and a teacher. Keep goiong!!!

Pete was not the "sean Payton " era. He did not run seans play schemes at all, he made his own but had zero clue how to manage players in those positions to execute the plays. They say he is a genius play designer, but that is usless if you dont know when to use them or what players will be better in which slot. Or hiw to mdify the plays against difference teams playstyles.

We should take care not to overreact over the first two games of a season, with a scheme that had no tape with these pieces, where the biggest constant was years of inconsistency in execution of scheme and poor head coaching in-game decisions. We'll see how the team and coaching respond to adversity.
I will say that an underrated move that most talking heads are missing is in the change of O-Line coach from Doug Marrone to John Benton.

Carr is probably going to have his best season of his career and to play his old division in that is awesome. There is nobody who deserves it more than Carr after all the punishment he has taken for NO, Oakland and Vegas media/fans and he still remains good character speaks to his faith turn the other cheek
Great would be a double HC Allen Kubiak in this way we could lock up Kubiak.

Can someone explain when the Browns became some phenomenal team that the Cowboys winning over made the Cowboys get all that hype-for beating the Browns??
The talking heads don’t do their homework. Plain and simple. It’s pure laziness on their part to just jump on bandwagons because it’s easy. “America’s Team”. Got to talk about the Cowboys 24/7 when they haven’t won a Super Bowl since Grunge was still popular. Saints have the more recent Super Bowl win compared to the Cowboys, but we fade into media obscurity after Brees retires, while the Cowboys keep getting the media love. I said from the beginning this was a .500 to possible Wildcard team, but so far they’re exceeding expectations. The offense I can understand being a total surprise, but why was the defense so overlooked this preseason? Us Saints fans were saying this was a possible top 5 D going into the season, why was that so overlooked by the talking heads on ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS sports, etc.? Best secondary the Saints have probably ever put together. Yet, some experts were predicting the Saints to be WORSE than the Carolina Panthers! I saw some record predictions at 3 wins TOTAL for the season! They treat Carr like he’s Wentz. Didn’t he settle in and finish last season like first in TDs for those last five games, winning 4 of 5? Not to mention, if they win one more game last year, they would of won the division. The disrespect small market teams get from the media is stupid.

Not getting any Saints info here, all I'm getting so far is criticism of the sports media clowns.
I think a better approach is to not make any predictions at all. Why do we need predictions? Is there any useful information in any of these predictions? Just wait a few months and we'll all find out who the best teams are so we don't have to guess who they are now. There's no need to predict that.
Look at how many offensive players we went through under Pete Carmichael who may have been this much better than they seemed.
