    Tesla sound to be very fair to early buyers by upgrading their trucks free of charge. I can't remember any time that legacy car makers offered a free upgrade of a more powerful engine!

    • @bear4278
      @bear4278 2 місяці тому

      That’s probably because most legacy car makers have never had a need to do this. They just do actual testing to make sure their product works and meets the advertised specs before putting it in customers hands 😝
      Remember, like in the good old days where you just got what you paid for from the factory?
      Now everyone seems happy paying stupid amounts of money to be “beta testers” for “finished” products with the hope the company fixes all the issues in the future… Seriously, what the hell happened to this world?

    • @davekozlowski1266
      @davekozlowski1266 2 місяці тому +1

      @@bear4278yeah, no other car manufacturer would replace a motor like this! I'm sure all of those Toyota owners that have metal shavings in their engines will be happy to get a magnetic oil plug instead of a new engine! But I'm glad they have taken care of the problem so quickly unlike Tesla who is replacing motors on vehicles that the owners haven't even had an issue with.

    • @bear4278
      @bear4278 2 місяці тому

      @@davekozlowski1266 I’m really not sure what you are trying to say.
      Two things though:
      1) Car makers like Toyota absolutely will (and do) replace an engine if it is defective (that is standard build warranty stuff and is mandated by law in virtually all first world country that I know of). Also not sure what you are referencing specifically but a small amount of metal in the oil is not uncommon for a brand new car. A new engine usually needs a little time to break in (hence there often being a recommended 500km / 500mi oil chance) and you sometimes get specks of metal in your oil from that so having a magnetic sump plug to catch that so it doesn’t recirculate through the engine is normal and helps mechanics check if there is an issue. If it is a significant amount of metal and or causing issues / is hurting performance, see the first sentence of this dot point above.
      2) the Cybertruck owners are having an issue. The issue is that they aren’t getting the range that was advertised to them.

    We were offered a founders series because we had an existing pre-order - around #350,000. We jumped at the chance because calculating conservatively it will take another four years for Tesla to produce 350,000 Cybertrucks. This was an easy way to jump the line (for a cost, obviously). I am happy they keep making fixes and improvements.

    My AWD Cybertruck is at my Tesla SC now getting both the front and the rear motors changed. I was experiencing a slight vibration at highway speeds that Tesla said was caused by a drive unit. I was told that the rear motor was replaced with the newer version. The rear motor is permanent magnet. The front motor is induction.

      @thomasruwart1722 2 місяці тому +2

      @@tomh1727- There is a third category of Early Adopters: they buy one out of curiosity because it is so different.
      Regardless of the motivation, Early Adopters are a very important part of a new tech rollout. They are the ones that essentially shake out as many bugs as possible. This is a very effective way to find out what works and what doesn't. I suspect that Tesla found something with the motors in the CT that would have caused them to fail within the warranty period so they decided to fix it before it became necessary. Furthermore, because of the way Tesla runs their assembly line, they can easily integrate the new motors in the assembly line so that all CyberTrucks moving forward will have the new motors. That is a capability most legacy automakers don't have.
      All that said, I am waiting for the non-Foundation Series before I get one. This will reduce the price and, more importantly, give me more time to figure out how I am going to tell my wife that I ordered one... three years ago!😊 Have a great week!

    Stark Varg have just done exactly the same thing, they released a software update that increased range 10%, fixed some small bugs and added a host of new features (crawl mode and reverse). When I compare this to motorcycle companies like KTM or Yamaha they NEVER fix ecu issues, they simply release all the updates/fixes in the next model year - leaving the customers with the dud product to resolve it themselves. So this is incredible we see this kind of benevolent behavior from manufacturers.

    I find it kind of silly to adhere to an old adage "wait a few years for all the bugs to get ironed out," when that is an OLD adage! In case you hadn't heard, Tesla is a technology company. I drove a Model 3 for almost 3 years, and now a Model T Performance. Neither had any issues, but are constantly upgraded for free over Wifi. The single "recall" was to move the emergency LED flare from a place the driver could not clearly see, to a place I can now clearly see. Say the single motor is the older motor that might be a bit worse but cheaper. In duel motor have that be one of the two and perhaps two of the new ones and just one old in the highest trim for the best performance, but it sounds like they're just replacing 1 of the three in this free upgrade. I don't know how teslas motor variation work currently, but id guess the main motor is in the front and then any in the back are added but i could be way wrong.

      It actually costed more than 100k to produce the truck......Don't forget that they are not mass producing them, especially in the beginning where they are learning and tweaking on production line. You are also forgetting R&D to develop the truck, all the initial Hardwares purchased to produce the truck, and all the new employees hired to produce the truck. All those cost added up initially will be included in the cost of development, AND production. As they produce more FASTER, and start delivering them on a more mass scale, production cost will go DOWN, but for now, it is more than 100k to produce them, or at least at around 100k.

      hmm....if only Toyota were so ethical with its customers. I mean, 100k Tundras have failing bottom ends, apparently their new V6 bottom ends fail as well, the transmissions in Tacomas overheat and fail, and Toyota has no spares available in north America. By comparison Tesla is giving its customers an improved motor to increase efficiency.

      Buy one (only 2 million orders ahead of you). Test it thoroughly as I have mine and you will have an INFORMED opinion.
      After 3 months and 7500 miles, I'd advise that the only people who shouldn't get a CyberTruck are those who don't want having just 1 stock vehicle that is better at everything that any 4 specialized vehicles were individually designed for. It's a better jeep than anything Jeep makes. It's a better heavy-duty truck than my F350. It's almost as fast as my Model 3, which makes it a better sportscar than all but a handful of supercars. It's more roomy and comfortable on 2000-mile road trips than any minivan or saloon car.
      I've pulled my 7500 lb RV up and down 8-14% grades of Utah Mountains (easy to make a dead stop on 14% grade on regen breaking alone), off-roading and wading spectacular mud in bentonite clay hills of South Dakota's Badlands, transported full 2500 lb loads of water and cement, run a professional welder off the 240V outlet, powered multiple variable-voltage (saws are tricky that way) power tools, charged BEHE (Battery Electric, Heavy Equipment) like my L25e Volvo loader as well as other Teslas, outraced sportscars and suped-up trucks, on windy backroads and crowded interstates.
      Or you could just share what you think you have learned from the outdated youtube vids you've watched. 😂
