  • CRUISE TIP #20, BEWARE OF YOUR BALCONY DOOR.
One of the highest spots for injury on a cruise ship is the balcony door in the cabin. People have had arms broken, fingers lost, and head injuries by leaving the balcony dooy open.

Thanks for talking about this. It will be a very big lesson to learn if you don't heed the warning.

Good for all to know. Also, leaving the verandah door open can cause more heat into your cabin.

Just a note that the video ends abruptly mid-word. You make a good point. I am unsure how to avoid the suction caused by the unexpected arrival of the steward, though. Also, I don't remember opening the balcony door turning off the climate controls in my NCL cabin? Maybe this is only for newer ships?

Yes a very good tip and being a Balcony cabin lover I have experience the slamming of the door and seen people actually hurt by them too. Don seems like the video cut off before you were done talking.

We always keep our balcony door closed and locked. It needs to be locked for the AC to keep working as well as the draft you're talkingabout.

I like the slider balcony doors as Royal and Celebrity has. I think Carnival has the dangerous ones- I don’t know why people leave them open- go out and close the door behind & enjoy the balcony! Don’t like the new infinity cabin balcony’s on Celebrity Edge Class- it’s like a big window and the extra space to us does not equate to a true balcony!!

Well, it's only green (and common sense) that your A/C or heat would turn off when your balcony door is left open. Leaving your cabin exposed to the outside air would defeat the purpose of having A/C or heat since it would blow straight out, right? 🤨
