I like oceanview because I love seeing the water and watching the waves created by the ship without paying a balcony price. However, this only applies on cruise lines where the head of the bed isn’t against the wall with the window. If I can’t walk up to the window to look out, then it’s not worth paying extra for a window.

I love an ocean view cabin. My small grandchildren love to sit in the window, looking out and playing with their toys. When I travel with adults, then a balcony is a must.

I just disembarked Carnival Radiance and we had an ocean view cabin. I respectably disagree with you on the night view. We could clearly see the waves and have a sense of how fast the ship is going. Of course we were on the most aft cabin on deck 1 so perhaps our perspective was different than most ??

We started cruising with interior rooms, then outside with obstructed view and now we are hooked with balconies, we really enjoy them. We normally travel with other family members with staterooms next to each other and we ask the stateroom steward to open the doors to make it a bigger balcony where everyone meets and enjoy drinks specially during the day and the best part at the sunset every night , my husband loves taking pictures and also in the mornings still in his PJ’s and loves to see when the ship arrives at each port without having to leave his room.

When traveling with our kids we prefer connecting inside cabins, doubles the space and keeps the mess on one side lol. The money we save vs a balcony means we get to do some excursions that we might not be able to do if we got a balcony.

I stayed in a cabin that had a window that was facing Central Park on Symphony of the Seas. I originally got an interior cabin but was upgraded using the minimal fee. But my window wasn't round, it was big, it felt almost like a bay window. It was great and I loved my cabin.

We prefer a balcony too... some cruises we've chosen to go on were a little 'up there' so we chose an inside for it. In another thought, we really didnt mind the insides we've been on either because it encouraged us to go out there and find more to do. My hubby likes to relax, so sometimes its a little tough getting him out again after we've been out on a port. I go out of the cabin on my own because i want to see every corner of the ship and get my photos for my scrapbooks. So its been a thoughtful decision for each cruise sometimes.

I had a balcony cabin and only used it for one hour. It was either raining outside or too cold. I personally like ocean view cabins or virtual ocean view cabins to look at a monitor of what is actually happening outside. I like to wakeup and see the port the ship just arrived to. So ocean view is the best for me or even inside.

I prefer a balcony cabin, but have had several interior categories too. I liked the Promenade view on RCL a lot. Also liked Central Park balcony. Very relaxing and nice music in the evening. Downside was mist from the pool deck. Interior is fine. Saves a lot of money and usually very nice. I've only had one Oceanview cabin and loved the large floor to ceiling window. Downside was a bright light by the lifeboats that was on. I like my curtains open and it was too bright to sleep with then open.

Of course a balcony is better than an inside but is it really worth the upcharge? For me, usually no. So many times I’ve had a balcony and hardly ever used it. I like to spend time at the pool & in the public areas of the ship. Just like cruise food, there’s no right or wrong, no one size fits all. But usually, I’m happy with an inside & $$$ to spend on other things.

I lovvvvvveee ocean view! We haven’t done a balcony because we want to spend time on the decks on the ship. We originally were going to do inside but had an option to upgrade to a window and it was soooo worth it! The window allowed us to see us at port and see the ocean while getting ready in the morning and before dinner since that’s when we would be in room. We don’t get ready on our balcony lol so we wouldn’t spend time out there to even find it worth it.

Yup, totally agree with you on cabin choices. I've been doing mostly inside cabins, but occasionally i will spend the extra bucks and do a balcony or something like the Yacht Club, but still an inside. I did a ocean view once and will probably never do it again. The window was always dirty and they are located usually on lower decks, where as I prefer a higher deck. Also, when I do a inside cabin, I just turn on the TV to the bridge cam before going to bed, which will provide some light, but in the morning, I know what kind of weather we're having and it also lights up the cabin.

I've stayed in a RC Central Park/Balcony cabin & all that's missing is fresh air & ocean breezes. Central Park is like a giant terrarium. It can be muggy & great for growing moss. At the other, open end, it can be noisy. I prefer ocean view, so that I know day from night. Time zones change, so I trust the sun. LOL

Love cruising and have not had a bad cabin. In retirement we are putting together trips of multiple cruises and land vacation so usually choose an interior to make the budget balance. We sleep like a baby and have found if we split the bed (when at the end of the cabin) it makes so much more room in that space. DH does not step foot on a balcony if we have one so I am very happy to sail in an interior.

Been on 2 cruises (both with RCL). First had a port hole, which was a joke because it was small, and so etched by weather, you could barely see anything out of it. The second cruise was an inside room. That was fine by me.
We are going on a cruise to Alaska this summer (on HAL), and have a window. Would have liked a balcony, but it was $1000 more than the window room, and we would rather spend the money on excursions or having fun.
I’d still like a balcony one day for a cruise like Alaska, where you spend much of your time with a view of mountains or ports or the like. Ocean is nice, but I don’t need a constant view of it. I can get that walking around on an upper deck. And, unless it was at the back of the ship, I don’t see me in a balcony facing in the ship.
By the way, the cruise rooms you showed were all way bigger than my university dorm rooms! Lol! 🤣😂
Also, yes, I do click links to other videos, if I’m interested in that video. 😉

I've been booking balconies since 2019, or booking an Oceanview (porthole), and using royal up or celebrity move up. I do have an Oceanview for next January to save some $$. You've given me second thoughts about booking an oceanview, and instead switching to an inside cabin for most of my cruises. I think using the extra money (and i travel solo) for playing seems like a good idea 💡

Great overview..even solo and having the cabin to yourself...those Epic bathrooms..lol..what were they thinking....I had fun..you did not have too many videos to check...and yes i rarely do..great reasoning...we are all so different and it depends on the ship and wallat and length of time and one's mood i think if an outside cabin with just the view is ok. I had a horrible old ship outside cabin and rough seas that did not bother me as much and it just surprised me...I loved sitting in that weird window area with a large enough ledge and the light of the ship was shining on the waves and I felt perfectly safe watching that and the ship was rocking...maybe it was just the late 20's stupidity.

We're taking the family to Alaska this summer. A few members requested an inside cabin (yes, they like to sleep in "cave darkness"; go figure) and my husband and I have a balcony (I cannot do less) but I did book an ocean view for my daughter, SIL and young (10 years old) grandson. Since it's Alaska in the summer, we'll probably have 20 hours of daylight., so they should have a view most of the time. Also, since my grandson is young, I didn't want my daughter or SIL to worry about him on a balcony. Peace of mind for them.
I would never book an inside/balcony cabin overlooking the MALL of those huge ships. Really boring view to me. Like...what a waste of a balcony?!
If the videos being linked in the description category are interesting to me, I often look for and click on them. (It's annoying when someone says they WILL link a video and then it isn't there; that happens a lot.)

Our first cruise was on Allure of the Seas when she was just two years old. We wanted our first cruise to be fabulous and got an ocean facing balcony. We have never been able to select an inside cabin since then. I think about it, but always conclude "it isn't THAT much more" and get the balcony. We just love having one for so many reasons. I would never want a central park or boardwalk balcony, though. The no privacy thing would creep me out.

A feature of the inside cabin is built in exercise. As in, you run up or down the stairs to the nearest promenade deck every time you want to see the outside, especially when you hear some announcement about whale sightings. Or, you take a stroll round the open air decks after meals instead of immediately returning to your room. Nope, you don't bother with the elevators because they don't move fast enough.

I don't care about a balcony because I did it once to try and really never used it as I would just be out all day. It's definitely The Naughty sailors club.. 😂

Hi Morgan these inside view cabins are something I would not be interested in. If I am going on a cruise I want to see thr ocean and prefer a balcony. We were on the Allure of the sea a few weeks ago and were looking at these and all I could think of was no thank you.

Normally if you hmhmhm on planes and get caught you are put on a no fly list. There is probably a no cruise list for hmhmhm-ing on a cabin balcony. So you better don't do that. But it's interesting that Morgen wants to know what it's called on cruise ships. 😝

There is camera's all over the ship and the outer balconys have cameras pointing at them. Also the bridge usually can see down both sides of the ship. So im sure the captain has seen alot. I found this out when a fellow cruise passenger posted a nude photo of themselves on their balcony onto Instagram - then they posted another photo of them nude waving up at the captain on the bridge. Need you guess which cruiseline this is?

I actually made a video about exactly this topic, Tracey! It's not the same on all ships. Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/Th_k2AWXjRw/v-deo.html

@@ricktaylor5397 because 1st the passenger posted the nude photo with the sea in the back. Then they posted one waving up at the captain towards the bridge 🤣 There are at least decks 8 to 14 full of passengers who might also hear and see the other balconies. We thought there was some very active people on our cruise on their balconies but it turned out to be the morning HITT class in the gym 🤣🤣🤣

I cant be in an interior cabin. It feels like a coffin & i get more seasick.

Great video, If you have sexy sexy time on your balcony on a ship it's called a crime and they throw you off the boat boat.

How about the Ocean Motion Club? Someone else suggested that and I thought it fit nicely.
