They are two different studios. they're not really that closely connected so even if they cancel the live action remakes that wouldn't save the show
As much as it pains me to say this, live action remakes are profitable. They bring in more money than any other projects Disney has especially new ones. Are they any good? He'll no. But their success funds shows such as the mandalorian. Hopefully darkwing could would help heal the void that ducktales will leave behind.

I don't think it will be a cliff hanger since they know ahead of time, but hopefully imply the adventure continues even if we don't see it.
At least the main story with Scrooge and the gang will have a proper ending. Although, I'm disappointed we won't have Negaduck return, unless that new "Darkwing Duck" show will continue from this series.

This quote is why I’m taking this news surprisingly well, even though this show is my absolute favorite. I’m more mad than anything that they’d just cancel it out of nowhere, but what can you do. I had always assumed we’d get 5 seasons or at least 4 but obviously I was wrong. But I’m still glad for what we have. A lot of shows I like are really short, 1 season and that’s it, so I can at least say this is more than others give and I’m really glad for that. And besides, even though the show’s ended the story doesn’t have to be. We as fans can watch and rewatch this show to our heart’s content. We can make new stories from it, our own episodes, our own characters, anything we’d like. So in a way the story never ends as long as we’re here to keep it going. And that, I think, is the best any show can ever do. That is what we should focus on.
This doesn't feel like a finale, as there's more to do with the Duck family. We should at least have one more season to finish things.
Yeah, like what happened to Webby's parents ? What about Negaduck's next move to get revenge on Drake Mallard ? What about the introduction of Honker and Morgana as they promised us not long ago ? What about they decided to bring back the Rescue Rangers ? What if there's another threat who's even worse than FOWL, like Merlock or Solego ?

This quote from Louie from the season 2 finale very much sums up my opinion on this news. I am incredibly sad to see one of my favorite series come to a close, but I’m also excited. I’m looking forward to seeing how they are going to wrap up the entire series in the season 3 finale, I’m excited to see what new projects Frank, Matt and the rest of the crew are going to work on and I’m still curious about that rumored Darkwing Duck reboot. Of course I’m sad to see Ducktales go and I would have loved to see more of these great characters, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be excited about what comes next :)

Personally, I hate New Ducktales and love TTG.
TTG does not cost as much to product and still gets the amount of ratings and merchandise sales to justify it's production. Sadly Ducktales, although excellent, couldn't make enough money back.

It’s sad that the show is ending. But we got an awesome reboot. I loved seeing character developments and the heart. My favorites moments are When Louie and Della were singing the moon lullaby together , Gyro and Boyd hugging , Lena standing up for herself and many more . Let’s all see how it ends and be happy that this show happened.

If they didn’t do remakes at all however then we wouldn’t have ducktales now would we. And if you’re referring to beauty and the beast or the lion king, I’ll have you know that over 50% of those films are cgi. And so is this series, it’s hand drawn animation with added cgi effects.

It’s a shame to hear the series is ending as it was so good but this isn’t a huge surprise to me. The series big pitch, the truth about the triplets mom, has been resolved and after FOWL I couldn’t think of any other villains they could use to headline a season.
My one hope for the legacy of this series is that this characterization of Della Duck not only sticks but also gets to be used in other Disney media such as Mickey Mouse cartoons. It would be really cool for a headlining Disney character to be an amputee.o

Yeah, I really hope that they will continue to use these versions of the characters in other shows and movies. And it would be cool to see a Quack Pack reboot that’s actually a spin-off following Huey, Dewey, Louie, Donald, Daisy, and probably Della too. Or maybe even a reboot of House of Mouse where they use all the same versions of the characters from DuckTales, and add in new Disney characters.
With the passing of Russi Taylor, I kind of hope that the characterization of the triplets on this show carry over into other media.
I'm 100% okay with this. My only major hope is that the planned Darkwing Duck series is a direct spinoff of this series, so maybe characters from this show can occasionally cameo or maybe even guest star in some episodes.
Why end the show?
Because it’s better to end the show with a planned ending, with all creators at the height of their creativity, than try to push production to a point where the creatives get tired of it.

I always have to remind folks not in the industry that terms like “canceled” and “not renewed” are often used interchangeably. While I’m sad to hear that there will be no more Ducktales after the 3rd season it’s not like there were plans for a 4th, the show simply didn’t get picked up for new season. All signs (so far) point to the show ending in a controlled and well thought out way. And honestly I’d rather have a satisfying conclusion than risk something lesser just to get more episodes.
But we were JUST getting so many new awesome characters! It seems like it's ending just when it was reaching its true potential.
We never got the Negaduck episode. 100% canceled not ended.

"Ending on their own terms." That's not something you can say about a lot of great stories these days. This show was a nostalgic treat all the way and it always put me in a good mood when I watched.
I think this is an extremelly bad move. This series is basically the Duck comics incorporated as a TV show while mixing the lore of every coutry's portrayal of the duck world and explaining misteries sorrounding the universe as a whole. This isn't just a regular reboot, it's a series about the duck universe as a whole and it more than had potential to still tell many stories in the future. I mean, in season 4 we could still explore who Huey, Dewey and Louie's father is, what happened to Donald and Della's parents and who Webby's parents are just to start. There are still several important missing characters from the universe like Grandma Duck, Hard Haid Moe, Gus Goose, etc. that could also appear. Really, this series had the potential of lasting forever if they wanted to.
Imagine if they actually made Cold Shadow canon in the series!

@@dg_777player5 There's a game for SNES, Mega Drive (etc) called "Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow" (or "Donald in Maui Mallard", in some versions), where Donald plays a character character Maui Mallard that goes to investigate an island that has been dominated by black magic
At some point of the game, he gains the power to become an ancient ninja warrior that was the protector of the island, called Cold Shadow.
I really recommend to check this game. It's really fun. And I always wondered if the Ducktales producers could be able to provide something like. Would be awesome.

@@dg_777player5 Yeah, its truly a shame. An episode like that could have great villains such as Magica and even Phantom Blob somehow.
I was expecting this, in terms of Television animation Disney rarely orders shows past their third season. The only exceptions I can think of are Phineas and Ferb, Star Vs TFoE, and Kim Possible and the latter only had a 4th season because of a fan write-in campaign. Even shows like Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble had to rebrand multiple times to technically have more than 3 seasons.
This year just keeps getting worse. My worries are increased now that the Darkwing Duck show probably wont even made by the Ducktales crew and the Darkwing and Gos and Launchpad we got to see develop and grow wont get the show they deserve.
They probably will, as Let's Get Dangerous is probably a backdoor pilot of a Darkwing Duck reboot by the dt crew.

This news is bittersweet for me.
I want this remarkable series to go on.
However, that being said, the writing was on the wall going as far back as the Season 2 finale episode, MOONVASION, when Director Bradford Buzzard uttered at the end to his members of F.O.W.L. that "we will give them their final adventure...."
I suspect that Matt and Frank were notified by the Disney bigwigs that Season 3 would be their final season so go all out.
Ratings have been slipping despite a strong fandom due to the change from the Disney Channel to Disney XD.
The only plus side for this sad news is that Matt, Frank, and their cast and crew will be able to go out with style with the series finale.
And another thing that might work in the favor of the series's continuation will be how well it does on Disney +.
If in the next few years viewership is strong, there is a slight possibility of movies or miniseries to continue this series from time to time.
But it comes down to word of mouth, buzz, and subscriptions to watch it.
It sucks, but everything for the foreseeable future revolves around streaming services.
It's about the all-mighty dollar for Disney.
It always have been.
Here's hoping we get more.
Nevertheless, that depends on preparation, opportunity, and a lot of luck.
We'll see how this plays out.
Fans need to speak up but not in a angry way but rather in a good way of why they love this show so much. The fans have the power... if multiple fans spoke up about how much of an impact this show made o their lives with love and commitment of family and friends and the love of the way the show was greatly put together they will listen. Companies listen to social media, on blogs and to videos. Thats where their money comes from, the more people start speaking up the more this show could go on for another 3 or more seasons. It all depends on you, the fans.
If it’s ending on the creator’s terms then I’m happy.
Also an important thing to know, is even if we aren’t seeing their adventures anymore. The Duck family will never stop adventuring.
And there’s darkwing to look forward too.
It feels a little like... The Good Place. It stings to lose it. But they’ll always be with us. Even if they were only here for a moment.
I hope for a spin off, these characters should have more on screen adventures. Specifically this ducktales version, but also in general, we see a lot of Donald, occasionally the triplets (as a unit,) but I want more Della and Scrooge. This series made some great characters, with a lot of depth, and showed off that there was a lively character or two in the background that can be main stays in future stories.
Maybe we’ll see reboots of Darkwing, Tail Spin, Rescue Rangers, Gummy Bears?
All bad news aside, this has been a wonderful 3 nearly 4 years. This show literally rewrote history, and is known for being one of the best reboots. We got to see our favorite characters reintroduced in a new light, and fall in love with them all over again. The new adventures, the mysteries, and new characters to love, it feels like I’m a part of the family. I feel like that goes for all of us when I say we love this show dearly. And family is truly the greatest adven- Oh no the ground!!
I think the greatest thing this show has done for me is inspire me in life. To keep going. To achieve my goals. It pushed me forward in life from Freshman year of high school to my senior year. I have made some amazing, hopefully life long, friends because of this show. It's heartbreaking to see this show go, but it definitely deserves a big Thank you from me.

I hope that before the series ends, the following things happen
1. The whereabouts of Webby's birth family (or parents) is soon revealed
2. The rest of the Duck Family learns that Beakley is an agent of S.H.U.S.H.
3. F.O.W.L. is defeated and Bradford is imprisoned for his crimes
Considering how the Darkwing Duck reboot is officially happening, I have a feeling the first half of No.3 won't happen. But could F.O.W.L. still be in action, if Bradford and his cohorts are put in jail
How about the whereabouts of the triplets' father? I think they should go that route before the show ends.

I am sad of this cancellation of Ducktales. I remember meeting David Tennant (Scrooge McDuck) 2 years ago and congratulated him on Ducktales and on Season 3.
This show felt like something that really could’ve gone on for however long they wanted. Season 3 has done such a good job expanding the lore of the reboot, I really wanted more episodes focusing on this big and beautiful world :(. I am trying to dwell on the beauty of the show as is, but it’s hard. Feels like another OK KO, a show that will be good, but should’ve gone on longer

I would love a couple hour longish movies over the next couple years kind of growing the kids up till their quack pack years.
While it is sad, I will say I agree. The show was amazing, and the fact that they were able to give us what they did, I'm beyond grateful for. It's not canceled. It's just ending, for now. But their stories will live on through comics and other realms of animation in the future, I'm sure. This was a great adventure, and I can't wait to see what the ending has in store. Great video! The show does deserve another season at least and sad to see it end. I hope someone else comes up with more Ducktales stuff in the future or even a show that includes them as cameos. Maybe they will show up in the Darkwing Duck show.

It's sad to see Ducktales is ending but it sounds like that at least they're going to go out with a bang, and end the way they want to end it. It just goes to prove that there's nothing that's guaranteed in TV. I wish the creators well and luck on all future endeavors.
Thank you Sean for all these amazing videos, there are days where your videos actually remind me when a new episode drops, which always excites me. I actually had the pleasure of meeting you at Disneyland almost a year ago. (I'm the Photographer in the Main Street Photo Supply Shop who noticed your DuckTales Backpack and recognized you) It was a fun run of shows, and like you said, and I've been saying to everyone for quite some time, this show always was going to end on its own terms, something many other shows (like Young Justice, before it was revived or Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes) never had a chance to do because there was so many plans that never bore fruit. I do personally believe that the show will continue to find new life in other media, with more comics and even a Movie ala Treasure of the Lost Lamp or through spin offs like Darkwing Duck, my hope is that in some form the series will continue to remain in the zeitgeist and fans will hold it in the same standard that the 1987 series had maybe go beyond that.
Until the day comes when we truly have to say goodbye, I like you will continue to enjoy what we have left and will savor every moment we have with the Clan McDuck, and I cannot wait to hear what you have to say about it. :)

I know this isn't the final Duck story but I'm afraid this is the last time we see this incarnation because the other versions chose to use the comics or 87 versions
there's a part of me that's sad of not seeing more crossovers, mainly from season one's little omage (sp?) to TaleSpin, but that's mostly me wanting to see Baloo and the gang again when just the seeing the Cape and Don Karnage is more than enough for a Talespin crossover. Happy to see the idea of how Darkwing Duck comes to be in the series, seeing Daisy, The Rescue Rangers, Goofy in his Goof Troop attire, having a little fun with The Three Caballeros, and have more insight with the other characters like Fenton and Glomgold. We got to see things connect to the old series, the comics and solve mysteries like how has Scrooge lived so long and finally seeing the boys' mom.
It's gonna be sad when the show is over, but it'll still be there for us to watch again when we want to solve mysteries or rewrite history :3
I know the characters will be back in animation again sooner or later, but... I really like THIS iteration of the characters. A new show, or the comics, won’t necessarily have these triplets, this Webby and friends, this Della and all they other unique and lovable iterations. In a new Disney duck comic or show, maybe we won’t have webby? How stale would that be? Or what if the triplets are all the same without personalities? And what if Della is nowhere to be found?
... I’m gonna miss them because this show is really special.

While I'm saddened we're not getting a Season 4, I'm not surprised by this given that Disney has been very quiet if Season 3 of DuckTales is its Last Season and with the show not being featured at San Diego Comic Con@Home and New York Comic Con@Home this year, it's safe to say Season 3 is the last season.
On top of that, going by the pattern for the other Disney Television Animated shows (e.g. Wander over Yonder, Gravity Falls, Star vs. The Forces of Evil, Tangled the Series, Elena of Avalor) usually they last for 3-4 years until they end their run, the only exceptions were Phineas and Ferb (7-8 years), Kim Possible (5 years), Sofia the First and the 2013 Mickey Mouse shorts (6 years).
If Season 3 is the last Season for DuckTales then hopefully the show ends with a Big Bang.

TBF, it not being at the Comic Cons at home wasn't really a sign considering Big City Greens, Amphibia, and Owl House weren't featured there either. By that logic, those thoses would be ending. Then again given the silence on Big City Greens' future after its second season, maybe that show's ending too.
If Disney doesn’t like to run shows passed 3 seasons then how do you explain Phineas and Ferb? It ran for 222 episodes across 4 seasons.
Some would explain the reasoning as shows like Phineas and Ferb being from a different era, some would explain it as an exception to the rule, others explain it as being due to the death of cable TV(though if that were the case it seems like Disney would have simply announced that the future seasons would be a Disney+ exclusive, and that the Darkwing Duck series would take place in the same universe to create more hype for their streaming service)
As someone who has never actually seen Phineas and Ferb aside from people online and offline loving it, I read "it ran for 222 seasons" and thought "yeah, that's a plausible hyperbole".
Phineas and Ferb had 4 seasons. The episodes came out randomly and they really stretched them out especially in the later seasons you would get one every 2 months. Also rarely dosen't= never.
Phineas and Ferb last two seasons were stretched out. Not a fair comparison. Same happened to the other popular show Star vs the Forces of Evil. The only time I’ve ever seen a consistent airing was with Kim Possible which creators wanted to end with movie, but through fan appeal Disney gave them another season.
The point is even if you are popular, Disney gets bored and will cut you off or stretch out the airing schedule. I say Disney Plus is the sort of best place, but even that might be iffy seeing as its Disney.
Because all Disney shows aren't alike okay.

I've always known the show would not go past 4-5 seasons but I'm so saddened that we didn't get 1 more year and a Webby arc-season. My favorite show, sad to see it end.

Personally I’m satisfied with ending here, almost happy. I feel like many shows go on too long, but I feel like ducktales is not only ending on a high, but also ending in a satisfying way with these characters.
Just about every major character has had their arc completed in some respect. Not over as in no more stories can be had with that character, but closed in that you’re not left feeling something is missing.
Dewey know who he is. He’s an adventurer and he’s someone who like launchpad, wants to be everyone friend.
Louie knows who he is. He is the businessman. He may call himself a scammer but he knows where his limits should be now so he’s more Scrooge and less goldy or glomgold.
Huey is discovering himself, being less driven to going by the book and more accepting of his feelings and intuition.
Launchpad found his families with the mcducks and with dark wing.
Gosalyn found her family and friends that she yearned for for years.
Donald found someone who understands him.
Drake mallard and Fenton found their purpose.
Lena found her independence and even Magika has her powers back.
Even the mooninites have purpose now.
It’s really hard to think of a significant character that has something really open ended
Yesterday was the day this show ended and had its finale episode. This whole show has gave me memories of going outside and adventure and how there was just so many good things.
I honestly expected that it would end on season 3, because of the theme of Dewey, Louie, and Huey that went on for the seasons and I don’t know who would be the main focus from there, but it’s still sad cuz I would of loved to see more of them.
I feel so bad that it's ending because of how much I want to keep seeing these characters. Donald just got a girlfriend, Lena has barely been present since her emancipation and I want to see more of how she is now. Violet is another really good new character I haven't got enough. And I just want to see the clan McDuck more. I love the dianmics of the kids, I love Scrooge's adventures.
Then again, I rather have a show that ended on its terms than one that was cut short or overstated its welcome. I should know, I'm a brony.

I kind of wished we got one more season since shows like Phineas and Ferb, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, and Gravity Falls got at least four seasons or years to air, but oh well. It is what it is.
Although I'm hoping all loose ends will be tied since I heard Frank Agnones state that they're saving NegaDuck for a future story that wouldn't be in this season.
Maybe you can ask them to write a book in the style of The Allspark Allminac for ideas. Maybe then the guy who is making a continuation of Transformers Animated can do something like this.

When Ducktales first came out, I didn't watch it...it was too different from the series I grew up with...it was your reviews that got me to start watching the reboot...and I loved it...too bad both are coming to an end.
I knew nothing about Ducktales aside from this remake.
All I knew was the characters from Disney specials.
And, this is probably the best remake show I have seen (definitely the best Disney remake). The creators clearly love Ducktales and it shows through each episode. They pay tribute to the source material while establishing the show’s own identity by modernizing some aspects in a natural way and developing the characters further. It’s amazing to see people who grew up with this show excitedly point out the creators’ spins on the story (I was blown away with the Darkwing Duck business lol).
As someone who did not grow up with the show, it was still so enjoyable to watch and it even got me interested in the old show.
It’s ironic- Disney has been churning out terrible movie remakes, but have also let out this gem.
I’m sad to see Ducktales go, but I’m glad that it’s not out of the blue like you said. It feels like it will wrap up nicely. With how great the show has been, I’m excited to see the ending.

Even though it's sad that they're ending DuckTales with 3 seasons, i just hope they give it proper and or fitting ending because it deserves one, although part of me isn't surprised that they're ending it with 3 seasons because 3 seasons is usually the point where a cartoon series has become a success.
yeah back in the mid 2000's kim possible's original ending was gonna be so the drama aka the s3 finale but got renewed for a s4 which was cool but it felt like ron and kim regressed abit even when being a couple

Everyone outside the industry uses "cancelled" to mean "not renewed". I would consider "there was, if not an order, an understanding that there would be more than what was ultimately produced" a compromise, but in the American model of running shows indefinitely until the ratings have fallen or the actors got too expensive to the point that it didn't make financial sense to keep going, anything short of "the writers decided they have no more story to tell" would be a cancellation under that definition.
I was expecting a good arc for Donald or Donald and Della but looks like we will not get it.
Seriously. I was hoping to get a season focused on Della or a Donald and Daisy season and then finish it off with Scrooge getting his time in the sun.

As sad as it that one of the best animated shows of our time is ending, as Seanicus says ‘it’s not going anywhere’, there are decades of duck stories, the original DuckTales and the three season of the reboot will be available on Disney+.
It’s also important to remember that it’s going out on a high. Up until now there hasn’t been a single bad episode. It’s best if the shows leaves us wanting more rather than us leaving it wanting less.
I’m forever glad this show came in to our lives. What an adventure it’s been.
I wish they had made at least one more set of toys before ending the show. There are so many characters that would have been perfect for blind bag figures.
I have loved this show since episode one, but I have to say my favorite episode has been Astro B.O.Y.D. it spoke to me in a way I didn't think a disney cartoon could or would. Huwey was always my favorite of the kids but i really connected to him in that episode. I always felt like the weirdo, that one that doesn't understand how people "normally" interact. Huwey befriending Boyd was exactly how I felt when I met my best friends. I felt like I belonged.

I will seriously miss this show. It was my favorite on tv right now and honestly it still feels like it just started.
I’m also seriously wondering what’s gonna happen with the Ducktales experience they had planned to replace the Agent P adventure at EPCOT in Disney World. It was supposed to open this past summer but obviously that couldn’t happen, but maybe they’ll still have it next year after the shows over.

When it takes so long to produce an animated show now so that it can't retain momentum and causes huge hiatises in content for viewers, this day was inevitable.
It's so heartbreaking that such a rich universe can't be taken advantage of for years to come through spinoffs. It is what I was so excited about as the series went forward. The table was being set so well.
I have to disagree completely. There is nothing good about this news. We are being denied by force years and years of amazing content in a rich Disney Afternoon universe. Disney is ending the best show it has ever produced.
I do look forward to you reviewing more things. Maybe the next Disney Afternoon show to get a reboot? maybe old episodes of series that's been out, over nd done with a long time ago? Maybe a new show that's not a reboot that's still running? maybe a new series that hasn't come out yet that you'll have some thing to talk bout. I could easily list shows I want to see discussed if that information is helpful. but you have so many topics to choose from you could easily find new topic I agree on with out help.
I have to say that I enjoyed the season 2 episode: The Dangerous Chemistry of Gandra Dee. I enjoyed the superhero-like elements. However, I enjoy Fenton's character most as Fenton, rather than Gizmo duck. One of my problems with spiderman is that we never really get a good amount of time to see Peter Parker. There's an imbalance in what the audience sees of his character. Here we see that personal side of a hero and how quirky the guy is. While Fenton's civilian and hero lives are closely intertwined, we see how he doing affects his civilian side in more ways than late or incompetency as a functional adult. Fenton is capable, albeit clumsy.
I don't have nostalgia for the old Ducktales because I was too young to experience it. I managed to catch out of context clips of Darkening Duck here and there. However, when the new show was announced, I knew it was a reboot. I was old enough to know that. I fell in love with the show anyway. It's ending and I'm sad about it.
There's something special about a show when you watch with it's release instead of waiting for the end and binging the whole thing after the fact. That time is spent outside the show to connect with the characters as we grow older. We cry when they end because we grew attached to the characters with time.
I'll end it all there I suppose.
