I love how Della really takes a mom role in this episode, not just with her boys but also Webby, her honorary fourth kid
Which is now her cousin
@@emerald773sstudio2 adopted fourth kid/cousin now XD
He didnt mention the funniest part of this episode; The Greek Pantheon canonicaly has a group chat that deliberately left Zeus out. Thats the most petty thing ever. I love it
@jf k Or that Hades is a punk/goth rocker and not a carsalesman voiced by James Woods.
@jf k hades is just watching the drama like it's his own personal soap opera.
@@thedorkknight9684 cant blame him that he hates zues he forced him to take care of kronos lmao
It’s the Greek gods.
Being petty is their whole shtick.
I find it hilarious that Webby went MAD with friendship power🤣
My little pony?
If anybody could be corrupted by the power of friendship, it's webby.
Friendship is magic!
@@melissamurray8307 and magic is HERESY
Seeing Della's parenting in contrast against Scrooge's complicated differences with how he goes about showing the kids love & respect was one of my favorite aspects of New Gods On The Block. Della has told Dewey & Webby before in Season 2 her philosophy of never having to prove themselves to her as equals because they're already on that same footing as a family to begin with.
Scrooge, while very deeply loving of each and every one of them, doesn't say it often because he presumes they already knew from how he lets actions speak for itself, rather than in words. Something he's done for most of the series, so it was nice seeing that be addressed here in this particular story around their family dynamic. New Gods On The Block is easily on my list of favorites from Season 3's episodes, thus far.
I wish Donald was a bit more involved with the main plot only cause I think if there’s any character that exemplifies the ability to move on from failure, it’s Donald Duck.
Especially this version of Donald. He had to deal with a childhood where he felt outcasted cause of his voice, then he lost his band, then he lost his sister which in turn made him lose his uncle. But he kept going and raised 3 kids.
I just think it would’ve been nice if he also was involved in that lesson more. I’m happy with how much character development they’ve given Della and her relationship to the kids. I hope the popularity here will see more versions of the character in other media.
But I miss some of the early “dad” uncle Donald and kids interactions. They’re still his boys too
Well, if Donald knew about the kids being depressed thinking that Scrooge was trying to replace them... The plot would've gone in a different path. This is how I imagined how it would've gone...
Donald: * seeing the kids are sad *
Donald: Hey kids, what's wrong...
Dewey: Our life is over....
Louie: I'm never getting my inheritance...
Donald: WHAT???!!!
Webby: Uncle Scrooge doesn't need us anymore...
Huey: He's replacing us, because we're not good enough for him....
Donald: * heating up *
Huey: Uncle Donald are you OK???
Donald: UNCLE SCROOGE!!!!
* UNINTELLIGIBLE DUCK NOISES *
* TEMPER TANTRUM *
* storms out of the rooms to find Scrooge *
And then you know what happens....
I guess that's the reason why they used Della instead of Donald as the parent figure in this episode...
And yet, if they had used Donald the episode would've been so wholesome
You know, there's something in Futurama that has stayed with me. This episode reminds me of it. "If a god does something right, people won't be sure they've done anything at all." They all tried to directly interact as gods, which caused more problems than they started with.
Ah yes 🤔
Are we psycho-analyzing a cartoon? YES, that’s how you know it’s a good show with good characters! Being able to analyze a 2-d character on a psychological level is the staple of a good show with good writers and crew, it make the characters engaging, relatable and easy to empathize with and like.
“Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
Walt Disney
lol
I enjoyed Donald's subplot the most, partly for seeing his growing relationship with Daisy and for Storkules unintentionally screwing up their date. As for the main plot, it was fun seeing each of the kids trying out their requested powers, or natural abilities in Dewey's case. It was also nice having Della act like a mother again.
Worst Dad award goes to Zeus this episode:
"I don't have any powers... except the power to manipulate my children."
I didn't even notice the episode was a lesson on failure, that's pretty neat! And the episode also showed Della's mom skills at their best, with her also not treating Webby any diferently from her actual children.
Webby's makes me think of Fluttershy's "YOU'RE GONNA LOVE ME!!" escapade from the Gala episode xD
So Louie was King Midas, Huey was the Oracle of Delphi (sorry if I misspell the name.), Webby is... whatever the Greek God of Friendship is, and Dewey was one of the Muses, specifically, the Muse of Dance. Neat. Also there was a sub-plot of Daisy breaking up with Donald bacause Storkcules was his usual overbearing self, but the reconcile in the end after Daisy saves them from a Titan, Lythos, the Earth Titan. Had to look that up.
Philotes was the Greek goddess of affection and friendship
DonaldxDaisy OTP
Also, I love how out of the kids, Webby’s attitude is actually the most befitting of a Greek god. She’s got the total myopia down pat.
I’m still kind of miffed the episode ended with Zeus stealing his powers back while no one was looking.
Well, he did end up stuck in the underworld
probably plays more on the 'Zeus is a jerk' aspect of it
a real Loki move
I can’t wait for your “The First Adventure” review
I love how the fact that Webby''s eyes became blue like Lena's when she was powered up as The Goddess of Friendship.
"The gods of Olympus have decided that Zeus is a jerk" bit of a wild understatement but go off I guess
Just thinking about super powers. I always thought shape changing would be great, since it's very adaptable. But for a less obvious one, I'd probably go for a calming aura. A lot of problems can be solved a lot more readily when the people involved are calm.
5:46 Not even a few minutes with his powers, and already Louie has a body count.
11:16
"He's a complicated man. No one understands but his woman."
Backup singers: *Donald*
"Can you dig it?"
Selene's reaction to being slimed is goals.
When I first saw this episode, I thought Dewey was going to become the next Olympian because he was the only one who didn't ask for a power.
I can’t wait for the reviews for the first adventure and battle for castle McDuck.
The kids using their god powers to defeat the titan is my favorite scene in the show.
THEN ALONG CAME ZEUS!
HE HURRLED HIS THUNDERBOLT!

The episode is really good and I also like how hades glomgold gibbous( a moonlander ) and good boy make small appearencess.
5:26 Clearly he's never heard of the midas touch
Webby has been accepted by Della as her fourth duckling.
I can think of one adult right now that doesn’t have a good relationship with the concept of failure. He’s about to be evicted from his house on January 20
Maybe if he makes a pillow wall high enough they won't be able to draw him out.
Though he'll likely never finish it.
You're being way too charitable calling him an adult.
I been playing Civilization VI and that game is a great way to learn about mistakes. Every choice you make while not important at 1st leads to bigger things far down the line. Choosing to ignore one thing in the present often means not getting a better thing in the future.
Is cilvilazation anything like age of empire? I saw Civ. 6 on sale in the eshop and i want to try it but not sure if i'll like it.
I have to say, ducktales has some of the best filler episodes ever

It was a good episode. I wished della and daisy interacted. Also I wonder how much donald has daisy about his family?
6:08 I also noticed that Huey's beak has turned gold and I don't think that was an animation error.
I'm looking at what you're talking about, but I don't see it...
@@Rognik Haven't you noticed that Huey's beak has a darker shade then his feet? Edit: Maybe this picture isn't the best quality, but watch the episode in full screen. You'll notice that his beak isn't bright yellow.
@@klimmr Instead of comparing it to his feet, try comparing it to the beaks of the other characters, like Louie or Zeus later in the episode. More or less the same shade there.
@@Rognik How about when Huey is imitating the Pig couple? His beak is the same color as the Gold Wreath he's wearing?
6:09 Clearly he's not heard Thanos's words about being cursed with knowledge
Selene should’ve mentioned on how Zeus didn’t bother putting aside his arrogance and help fight Lunaris in Moonvasion.
Another group with essentially superpowers. Zeus got the mantle back this episode, but really seems they could be leading up to a big superhero teamup event at some point (though with only like seven episodes left at this point in the series since it's the final season might not be able to slot it in, and it's possible I was reading too far in to a coincidence rather than something they planned) so they might get them back eventually, at least temporarily. We've got Gizmoduck, DW, full powered Lena, possibly Gladstone if he decides to actively harness his luck magic rather than just let it passively happen, Fethry and Mitzi could handle a Hulk/Kong the Animated Series style role, Gosalyn is almost certainly slated to take up her Quiverwing Quack persona or one similar to it, possibly Suavepad since he still exists in some form in Launchpad's psyche, of course our definitely real boy B.O.Y.D, Penny, both Scrooge and Donald have superhero personas that have been used in comics they could adopt, and the godlings in this episode (and to an extent the other full powered gods). Anyone I'm forgetting?

One of the reasons why people deal so badly with failure is because we're primed to see failure as not achieving in a major way. Small failures are treated as mistakes, not failures. And there are many times and places and even careers where even relatively small mistakes are treated as major failures or can very suddenly snowball into a huge disaster. Unfortunately, many of us live in a world where failure, even temporary failure, just isn't an option because the consequences are too severe, or worse, too unpredictable.
"The council of Olympus has agreed that Zeus is a jerk".
ALRIGHT! WHO DID HE [-----] THIS TIME?!
11:25 i love this part so much
I think "The split sword of Swanstantine" should've come after this episode.
This episode is clearly a filler episode in between a series of F.O.W.L. stories, but it's also one of my favorites of the season for one reason; Della. Full disclosure, I'm not a really big Della Duck fan, or at least not as big a fan as everyone else. Ever since I learned that she stole the Spear of Selene and unintentionally abandoned her family for 10 years, I haven't been able to let that go. However, when she came back to Earth and started to interact with her kids, she gradually got better. And, she is clearly the most motherly in this episode. This is the Della that I wanted to see for a while; someone who puts her kids' interests over her own and supports them even when they have no confidence in themselves.
How many times do I have to say this? It’s not filler if there’s character development and/or plot. And there was a lot of character development. (Even a little of plot with Zeus getting stuck in the underworld)
@@tahraethestoryteller6079 I also said that this is one of my favorite episodes of the season. I only referred to it as a "filler" in case someone else was only watching the F.O.W.L. episodes of Season 3 because it's the main story.
@@tahraethestoryteller6079 THANK YOU
Idk if its just me but every time I watch della yell at scrooge and then scrooge talk to the kids it just makes me cry, not in a bad way, but in a good way
Nice jacket, my man. Somebody went to Dewey High!
I love the shirt he’s wearing it make me laugh inside
this episode shows ( in my opinion) one of the kids's biggest insucuritys, they are completly dependint on What Scrooge thinks of them and try to gain his approval anyway they can, or they just do something that they don't want to do, just to make him proud and or happy. they should have shown Huey, Dewey, Louie, And Webby that it dosn't matter what anyone else thinks of them, they should feel good and be proud for being them selfs.
People always say "success is relative" and I think that applies to failure too, I look at it in a waited way (or try to anyway) yes I failed at whatever but nothing is perfect, so basically if you can't flip the omelette then your going to have some nice scrambled eggs. (but earlier said then done)
This is honestly my least favorite Ducktales reboot season 3 episode.
MAINLY because the B-plot with Donald and Daisy was such a wasted plot. This was Storkules at his most annoying! Such missed opportunities like I wished we could’ve had Daisy interact with Della and the rest of Dons family. And maybe Donald could’ve had a heart to heart with his family while he was wallowing.
What makes you think the family would've been in the best place to comfort Donald and Daisy seeing how they were dealing with the whole kids struggling to live up to Scrooge thing taking higher priority?
Well, if Webby was voiced by Tara Strong, she would be more perfect for the kind of goddess she wanted to be.
i loved storkules' gay undertones in this episode
also i simp for hades
Love your reviews man take it easy
Zeus being a jerk...yup, that’s normal. Because Zeus.
Also have a great holiday 🙂
What i noted is how the fans eagerly waited for an interaction between daisy and Della but it never happened.
And if della learned that her brother had a girlfriend, it would most likely goes:
Della: "Hey donald... what, you havea girlfriend? Ok sure, whatever. "
Did you say "celest" instead of "Selene"?
I... omg i 100% did

@@seaniccus ah ok🤔
Actually, didn't the season 3 opener with Huey and the Jr. Woodchucks deal with failure, and very well at that?
This is the first time they seemed like children to me
Why didn't Della go with them (on the quest that failed)? I feel like she hardly adventures with her family since she's been back. Wasn't she so excited to go adventuring with her kids when she got back to them? The writers just don't seem to know what to do with her, or something.
4:10 It took them that long to figure that out?
Wait a min i just had an epifany how did Celeste not know were della was she's the goddess of the moon
I really want to see Della interrogate daisy. It just seems like something that Della would do.

@@seaniccus I feel that though, it looks amazing! But love your videos and to see Ducktales go!!
My biggest grievance with the episode was Donald's B-plot.
I agree. I'd say this was Storkules at his most annoying
Yeah. Instead of visibly stomping all over Donald’s boundaries, Storkules should've just constantly overestimated Donald’s competence, with ironic cuts to Donald struggling with the date due to his own bad luck.
