Im embarrassed as a Kenyan that im seeing Marsabit town for the first time in my life in a foreigner's video after living here for 3 decades.
Even me I have never been to so many places in kenya. I have only been to Nakuru and Naivasha....and lived in Nairobi
🤣🤣tuko wengi bro. I used to listen to stories from my uncle who was a driver for Posta back in the 80s about how wild, dry and harsh Marsabit, Moyale, Lodwar, Mandera and all those other small Northeastern Province towns were na bado sijakanyaga huko even today. My uncle was a legend of the road having driven all around Africa form SA all the way to Lagos all the Congos , Zambia and Zimbabwe back in the 80s.He was even part of the service/chase crew of the Safari Rally and he drove everywhere like he was in a rally. Once his vehicle gearbox failed out in the bush in Lodwar and he could only drive in reverse. He drove from Lodwar to Kapenguria in reverse. took a whole day na shingo karibu ikatike. He had hundreds of such stories and pictures too.
Same here bro😅
@@wakawaka5131incredible story. Film worthy
Don't worry even them they haven't discovered their lands
As an Ethiopian I am Happy to See Kenyan Street like I've been there. Never seen before in this way in any Media or UA-camrs except Yves. He is Showing us and informing to know the details of each country and cities wherever he goes. Thanks Yves Appreciate your work which is pure of Smile, Tactical and Technical.
Most Kenyans have not seen this side of this Towns, not what Media portraits, Thanks for an awesome content 👏
Exactly. They Always bring these town when something horrendous has happened or political so ppl tend to get scared off. Such a shame!
I seriously wanna visit Marsabit.
Mainstream media have never been on our side. They have their masters whom they must serve. That's why you and I watch UA-cam.
The good thing about you among others is that you do support local business people by buying their products and food
That's appreciation to Africans cultures
rather than eating at McDonalds?
Rather than eating sand, well you can't escape that....
Nobody had even come close to what Yves had shown us unheard of towns on UA-cam, great job, we support Yves journey all the way.
Am a kenyan but i have become tourist courtesy of your videos
Kenya is so clean, i really appreciate the people.
Getting change in Kenya is tough because most people don't use cash.
you searching for avocados for that long is the most kenyan thing ive ever seen🤣🤣🤣

Kinuthia capacity in on kinuthia level...I wish anajua the potential
This is my home town… am happy it treated you well.
As a Kenyan married to an Ethiopian, I never knew that there are parts of Kenya where one can be mistaken to think that they are in Ethiopia because of the music being played around the shopping centres, the environment plus the locals resemble Ethiopians. Marsabit looks very organised Town.
The borders are very artificial - we should just unit and form the United States of East Africa 🙂.
The people in Marsabit Country have relatives in both Countries. The boundaries drawn in Africa was just on whims. The same situation is borders with Uganda and Somali
I think Marsabet was used to be Ethiopian land,
yeah because they are Ethiopians or somalis but they are Kenyan citizens
The Ethiopian got in Kenya through a treaty between Haile serasy and King George of Britain to stay in Kenya for thirty years
I never thought marsabit is such a lovely town. Contrary to what we see from media about insecurity. It's a shame to learn this from a foreigner
Yves is the happiest when he is eating and drinking 😂 😂 😂 loves his food and 🥑avocado 😂 hope you bought Supplies for the road 😂
I am even embarrassed at the way he is enjoying our food😂😂

We are united with fellow Eats Africans in EAC. The Horn of Africa is not East Africa. Unite amongst yourselves.
@@DumeJeusi you see that what i was trying to say the somalis call themselves arabs of africa while the ethiopians call themselves the isrealities of africa when will this propoganda ever end
I love your knowledge on so many areas...i havent heard a lot of inaccurate things about Kenya...the lady just wanted you to buy her soda 😂green stuff is sukuma wiki(i think collard greens). You can buy a Safaricom line and access MPESA. I dont think we can call Marsabit a city should be a town.
Thanks to your videos Yves, my impressions of African countries are changing so much. The amount of friendly and kind people, even to a foreigner is really heartwarming to see. I'm sure not everyone or everywhere in Marsabit is friendly but life seems so much more simple. I find myself really appreciating it.
The media tends to paint a horrid picture of Africa - many get pleasantly shocked when they visit countries like Kenya. I've seen expatriates and missionaries crying when they have to go back to their countries. On the other hand, the media also tends to paint a fantastic picture of the so-called developed countries - I was shocked to witness homelessness and abject poverty in Europe and the USA on my tours there, wow ... what an eye opener that was.
UA-cam suggested your channel to me yesterday when you were at Laisamis. Welcome to my country Kenya, I am going to watch all your videos and follow you around. Today I learnt that you are from France. I also realized that you understand Kiswahili perfectly, and you have a GOOD heart .. you are such a kind personality. Come to Kisumu, shores of Lake VIctoria!
I love this video. It really shows the intertwining of border peoples, mixed nationalities, Ethio-Kenyan, music from Ethiopia with Kenyan dishes and juice, again a shared liking. Theyre all sweet toothed! It just goes to show how seamless humanity is and the faultines are just really constructs. Still economically the country seems more organised. I heard the Kenyans are I think investing in partnerships with Ethiopian telecoms. The microfinancing instruments they have would be so beneficial in Ethiopia especially in remote areas. They deserve the best. Peace development and safe trade.
Yes, the company is called SafariCom. They got a license to operate in Ethiopia - massive growth opportunities for the company and Ethiopia. They'd already opened an office and trained the locals, but the civil war disrupted their activities, but I think everything is back on track now. Imagine sending money to the remotest parts of Ethiopia with no internet, just a cell signal, pay for services, shopping etc right from anywhere in the world - you could do shopping for your old grandma, pay school fees wherever you are in the world. No bank account needed, just a basic cheapo cell phone. It's incredible! Of course, the infra structure needs to exist, and the system needs to be acceptable by everyone as a medium of payment.
Kenya is beautiful. Privacy is improved. I see no kids following, no people surrounding you.
Those following kids 😂😂

Une nouvelle vidéo de Yves, mais quel plaisir 🤩
Like someone already mentioned it's possible to use M-Pesa as a tourist. I always used it last year and it made everything a lot easier. Even when I took boda boda taxis I used it to pay them!
Can you use it without local simcard?
@@eddateacha7464 no, you do need to get a Kenyan simcard
@@eddateacha7464 you can get a simcard with your passport for about 2$ then link it to your paypal to avoid the deposit-withdrawal hustle
@@eddateacha7464 No, you must use a local SIM card but it's cheap - less than $1. You'll use your passport to get a local telephone number. You can use the number internationally while roaming and continue to make transactions with businesses and people in Kenya. You can also make/receive calls from Kenya when you go back home - it's actually cheaper and very clear.
you can use your passport number to get a local simcard@@eddateacha7464
Africa is the best, people are friendly everywhere you go it’s the opposite here in Europe, all faces here are grumpy. No joy no trust nothing just stress stress stress study and work, and you get fined for the little things, no forgiveness even if you make the slightest mistake. Africa is truly blessed continent free of stress a continent where you can make friends anywhere, I love you mama Africa
I am glad you are enjoying Kenya. Can I point out a few things? That first lady who was saying 'soda' was asking you to buy from her, not that she wanted 'soda' in order to be in camera. About the barbecue, I really doubt that you were eating the goat with its skin. We do not do that in Kenya unless it is something I have never heard of. I think it is just nicely barbecued so it is crunchy on the outside but moist on the inside. Can you imagine chewing hide? About paying by Mpesa, as a foreigner you can use your passport to buy a local sim card. It is cheap and could be a good thing since it looks like you will be on the Kenya stretch for a long time now that you are still in the northern part of the country. All the best. Your channel has become my newest YT sensation.
Well said, Lucy, on all counts - thanks for setting the record straight for this guy and pointing out about Mpesa accessibility to foreigners. He was enjoying the results of slowly barbecued goat meat. May I also point out that when they go back home, they can still use the Safaricom lines (cheap roaming) to make transactions with businesses and people in Kenya and make /receive calls! It's better to have a dual SIM smartphone for this.
Nice one brother thanks for showing our culture and food

You can make a stopover at Archer's post. They have really good accommodation along the way. Logologo, and Laisamis are also great stopovers along the way..
Next stop is likely to be in Laisamis, Archers post seems abit far for a tri-cycle in one day. There is a good catholic hostel in Laisamis.

I love It how I hear (oromifa )Music in kenya. Its Nice to know how large oromo population is starting from Nile Gorge to North kenya . Infact its one of the biggest tribes in Africa but less known . And Most Elite long distance athlets are from ethiopian (oromo) population like bekele , dibaba sisters etc.
😂😂😂from the Nile gorge shameless you lots want to claim every territories as yours. Nothing surprises me about you lots….🤭🤭
@leyuGSA we are bo claiming but hasbehal 300 km from ethiipia and still speaks the same language and know who they are....yes asking them are you oromoo? Melsachu yeah we are oromoo
Ena yenente language enkwan hager, 😂😂😂 you know
The Oromia nation should claim their land all the way to Osiolo.
Always use the word modern Kenya, remember it was only created 60 years ago, the name of the country is also wrong and does not represent everyone who lives there.
European colonialists created names for Africa and created borders of their choice.

Happy trip, my friend. I hope your next trips will be in places like Marsabit because it is the best in terms of food, safety, and even people.♥️
People who live there 99%is a Muslim 😊 💖
Marsabit
The towns ahead are far more developed, safer & bigger.
Marsabit is a small town not a city
its not a city though
It's quite amazing what you are doing on the tricycle my friend. And you have a nice smile to go with it too !! From Malaysia ! !
I love the way you keep calling every Kenyan town a city no matter how small it is, Respect must be your surname sir 😂. Surprised how lively and developed Marsarbit is .
But that's how it's called we call every city a city as long as is the main town.
MPESA is very much accessible to tourists, you just need to buy a sim card, register with your passport, and you get to use MPESA straight away. That's readily available to tourists coming through airports... The region you entered Kenya has historically been marginalized and so lags far behind in terms of development and, hence, most of the challenges you are facing. But with devolution and equalization funds in place, they're slowly catching up with the rest of the country.
💯
Greetings from morocco🇲🇦👍👍
You have been overcharged when buying your meal and snacks but it's ok don't be bothered,i was glad when u passed my uncle's shop there in marsabit i enjoyed watching this.
Nice videos Yves! Been following you since you entered into wadi halfa in Sudan! Keep up the good films
M-pesa is available to Tourists but you can only get enabled to such services mainly in bigger cities. Because getting a sim card requires you to use your passport and not so many places can register you to the service.
Yes he needs to register with passport and that can be be done at any M-pesa Agent even in the village
It can be done in any safaricom shop or customer care desk. I think one its in Marsabit, Isiolo and also Nanyuki
Actually, if you are using a passport it can only be done at a customer care desk. But i am sure there must be one or two in Marsabit.
Ensure you visit Migori county specifically Kuria, here in Kenya 😊❤️.

Marsabit is a small town not a city. The cities in Kenya are the main one Nairobi , then Mombasa and Kisumu.
Nakuru
It has grown to a major town in the North, could be a City in few years
@pietrojenkins6901 I hope you are not referring to Marsabit as a refugee camp!

Just be more Cautious on the road past Isiolo. Unlike the other parts you've cycled through (Ethiopia, Moyale-Marsabit road) where you barely see vehicles on the road, there are alot of vehicles past Isiolo and mostly driven carelessly.
