- MLB 10: The Show was a special game. Critics unanimously praised it upon release, with some going as far as calling it the absolute pinnacle of baseball gaming, and a video game worth learning a new sport for, if you weren’t already familiar with baseball. It really was that good. It was baseball perfection.

I loved this game SO MUCH bro. Like just going on road to the show and playing game after game after game after game after game was SO MUCH FUN for me. I could just sit and do this in the summer FOR HOURS. Like idk how to explain it. It like was really lowkey chill and boring, but in a good really fun way. It really felt like I was experiencing how it felt to be a real life major leaguer and play like a bunch of games day to day to day in the summer. I’ll never forget the nostalgia of waking up at like 10 in the morning in June, going straight downstairs, turning on my ps3 and playing like 25 Road to the Show games in the span of like 4 hours and feeling so content with my life.
I don't remember which Show it was, but I remember a game was in extra innings, and after an out in the middle of one of them, Matt Vasgersian was telling the "viewers" that because the game was going past it's normal length, a random cooking show would not be seen today.
Matt Vasgersian was also always so much better to me than any other The Show commentator personally.
That's been in a few of them if you go long enough
They have that commentary in 21, 22 and 23 if you play long enough
I miss how you were able to sign broadcast rights deals from 20 games on local TV to your own Regional Sports Network like YES.
Unfortunately his normal voice would be heard rather than his exciting voice
The WEALTH of knowledge in those old Show games. I was a casual baseball fan and The Show 11 essentially taught me the intricacies of the game. The commentators teach you how to pitch. What to throw in 3-2 count, why you wanna pitch down with a runner on 1st, etc. Fantastic series.
Same. I had stuff like “2-0 fastball” drilled into my head from those games
lotta good games did this. learned the fundamentals of hockey strategy from no-lifing NHL 09 as a kid
I agree! It taught me how to pitch!
what can u recommend as a new baseball fan
I had a franchise that went until 2045 in this game. Absolute masterclass.
In Madden 09, I had something similar. I made it to like 2032, and half the past players became coaches. Jake Delhomme was the head coach of the Dolphins. It was insane
Yeah, I can't do franchise anymore. I don't want to play 162 games. Back then, you could play shorter seasons at it was so much better.
Do you have any tips you can remember for great scouting that guarentee you are getting an incredible player in the draft?
man those ps3 era mlb the show games still look beautiful to this day
First “The Show” game I ever played. Was truly perfect. Made me get into the sport of baseball. The Show 2010 through 2017 were so amazing, wish SDS still cared as much as they did back then
It's bad. Just looking at the gameplay visuals in this video...let's just been it's been a very minimal visual upgrade over the years.
2013 was the only year that sucked
This surpassed MVP 2005 as the best baseball game of all time. I STILL play this game today!
This Era of baseball games was AWESOME. As a 360 user, MLB 2K11 was the game that got me into baseball. I still pick it up from time to time.
Used to work at a GameStop back in the day. I was always so happy around baseball season, and especially for The Show. I would always find gameplay footage before release, put it on a PS3, and people would walk by and ask are the Phillies playing? I'd tell them no...This is a game! 🤯🤯🤯
People would lose their minds over the realism!!!!
that is so cool
Your not kidding, back then this game paired with my Sony Bravia was insane.
thank you for this. Also, you remain the #1 sports video games content creator via UA-cam.
High praise! Thanks
@@SOFTDRINKTVjust facts big dog. You make UA-cam a better place.
Its a shame how franchise lost all the cool features like determining how to travel. It basically became the madden of baseball
Growing up going from Bases Loaded to this was absurdly amazing. I remember playing lots of World Series 98 on Saturn, then onto the All Star Baseball series and High Heat, then MVP then MLB. The number of video game baseball franchises in the early 2000s was staggering.
There is a trick that only I seem to know about Bases Loaded. There is a pitcher that will pitch complete game shutout no-hitters every single game and there is no cheat code needed.
I still enjoy the Show 23 but man I would love if they still had the pricing of food and bobblehead and bat nights or whatever special promotion to help bring in fans.
I do agree that The Show has stagnated, but I also think it’s still solid, and that shows how important it is for a game to have a strong base to build from year-over-year.
The Show 10 gave SDS the platform to be good consistently, whereas a game like Madden 13 forced EA to have to play catch-up, and they’ve never really been able to recover
i agree, games like nhl 15-24, forced ea have to play barley negative catch-up, they still never ever really been able to recover since then. i am still stuck with nhl 14, and nhl 2k.
MVP baseball 2005 is the best ever imo.
My first show game, loved RTTS and the soundtrack
I just got MLB 09 The Show in the mail today and I love the game from the actual gameplay to the soundtrack
I would love to see your take on MLB Power Pros or MLB Power Pros 2008. Those were some of my favorite games as a kid, and they have a surprising amount of depth for how cartoony they are. Definitely one-of-a-kind sports games, considering they had a mode that was essentially a visual novel, and a career mode where you can get really in depth with your player's personal life, managing friendships, relationships, hobbies, and even having children
And The Bigs
did you know mlb power pros is an insanely big franchise in japan?
@@sumerapoke Yes! I imported the 2020 version from Japan and play it basically daily
"Reckovable waivers" 🤣(5:35)
I have 09 and 10, I haven't bought one since. Been very happy with it.
My favorite little thing was when an established closer began warming up for a save say Jason Isringhausen Matt Vasgereian would have a unique dialog
This was my first own, mine, mlb the show. A gift my father gave me for my 6th grade graduation ❤️
Mlb 10 the show on PS2 was my first video game I owned on a console.
Loved that game
Another great feature of this game was the ability to incorporate song files saved onto your PS3. For franchise mode you could set different walk up music for each hitter, for relievers when they come in, after a walk, after a strikeout, after a stolen base. Added so much to the game.
Man seeing some of these clips are bringing back so many great memories
The show on PSP was my life in the backseat of the minivan as a kid. Great video
This game got me into baseball in general
Edit: in the summer of 2020 during covid, my mom got me this game to cheer me up and i ended up playing it all summer. What an absolutely fantastic experience
First Sony mlb game I played at that time
W Mom bro.
What’s Covid?
I’ve played a lot of the Show games, but this one is the best one hands down. I love everything about this game. The attention to detail is amazing. I would definitely recommend this game over any other MLB The Show games. It’s just that good
I don't play baseball games but this looks like a real baseball game.
It really does.
The last game with the legend teams before MLB 18 the show
I threw a triple play in this game. The best play I’ve ever made. I was 9 or 10 and I was playing as the Phillies (my favorite team) against the Nationals in franchise. When I made that play I was so fucking hyped, shocked, and of course fucking happy cuz I just made the best play of my life. Here’s the kicker, Nyjer Morgan was the one running to first base and he was out but probably less than a second it was soooooo close. God I love this game left me with nothing but great memories. Have a great day brother 💯
From 09 to 13 were THE GOAT of Baseball games
I don’t think the game has a micro transaction issue. If you are good at the game you will be fine no matter what your team is looking like. Even if you do spend money on the game, stubs and good cards cost too much for it to make much of an impact. They also hand out 99s pretty much so you can get a stacked team pretty easily
I simply don't believe microtransactions belong in a fully priced video game, regardless of how they are implemented.
@@SOFTDRINKTVI agree. All these sports gaming juggernauts market to children and exploit their innocence for a quick buck. Americans deserve better
@@SOFTDRINKTVagree
One thing this game had that the new ones don't were player ejection and bench warnings. If you threw a fastball at a players head both teams were warned and if u did it again you'd be ejected. Now that's how online players intentionally walk ppl. Just throw at their head. There would also be human error elements. You could be called out at first but if you look at the replay you were actually safe. Just made everything feel more realistic.
MLB the Show 10 and NBA 2K10 got a lot of play in my dorm room back in 2010. Good memories.
Best soundtrack ever.
🎶it’s nice to know you work aloneeee🎶
I bought this one a few years ago. I had played earlier versions of the Show but took a break after '08 and I still think this is my favourite The Show.
10 is by far the best of the series. I recently bought it again and it’s still amazing
I played this on the PS2 and PSP a lot, and I put in so many hours on both versions back in the day… honestly those were much simpler times
I remember they had this on display at the store and I played it for like 5 mins and that’s when I decided to buy a PS3… I had always been an Xbox guy but The Show scratched an itch than Microsoft was ignoring.
07 was the best, you had forever training points I was playing until I was 44 in my career
Wake up honey, Softdrinktv posted a baseball vid
You hit this on the head. IMO the following titles are the 3 best in the series:
1) MLB 08 (RTTS mechanics)
2) MLB 10 (best audio and overall)
3) MLB 22 (best presentation)
06 people Will always have a special place in my heart. But i think This is sport on though I’d say 10-11 are the top
@Nicholas Bowen the one with David Ortiz on the cover? Yes, that was a milestone version. The first complete (great) MLB title
@@xman777b that is the one. I’m surprised you could even understand the gibberish i typed out lol
Love the content ..such a nostalgic feeling just watching along with the music to match, great work keep it going!
Those commercials were masterpieces
Classic game, remember finally finding a ps3 and getting this game battle field 2 and ff13. Great times
Those old menu screens brings back memories, man. Holy shit.
I had this game and YES was a masterpiece. This game had many things that The Show 24 does not has
Pretty much my entire childhood baseball game. Even if I liked 2k's baseball games more, since it was the only MLB game with Create-A-Team.
Thanks for an excellent recap to a masterful game. Here’s to hoping this franchise returns to glory soon
I owned MLB 06 the Show on PlayStation 2 when ti first came out and it was a magical experience. Having previously played MLB 2k5 which I also liked a lot for various reasons as well as Acclaim's All Star Baseball 2005, it was a great time to play sports games in general as your videos have mentioned including baseball video games. The Show is top notch and still is to this day but I agree it has reached a point where due to no competition they haven't gone out of their way to make the game even better than when they had to compete. (I do like the touch of the Negro Leagues Moments this year) I'll admit they do a better job than most nowadays and the series is still wonderful, but definitely something to be mindful of going forward since 2K and EA changed a lot in similar situations.
As for this game, I also owned on PlayStation 3 and have to say it was everything you've mentioned. I look back on it with very fond memories.
This game is unbeatable it made me love the game of baseball. I can still hear all the bats I cracked.
You should do a video on NCAA Baseball 06. It gets forgotten releasing in the goat year of sports games but it was really unique and still a blast today
Still playing it to this day on my psp I love it nostalgia
Thanks for another great upload
I really wish they would bring some the features of franchise back from this era. Setting up vendor prices, player marketing, etc.. franchise has stagnated so much and it’s the only mode I like playing
Please make more baseball games. Ecspecially with it being baseball season
I used the 'Movie Maker' Feature all the time on this for cool plays and just kept them on my PS3 and watched them when i was bored. So fun
I didn't get into MLB the show til 11 which I liked. I really enjoy the Show games after missing out of MLB the show 14-17 considering I didn't really have a PS4 would've played 15 but on my PS3 it didn't work for some reason nd am grad it's on other consoles although I mainly just do franchise
You didn’t miss out on much. PS3 gen mlb the show was LEAGUES better than ps4 gen
I dead-ass used to love playing MLB 10 it was the best game boss man. 💯
It honestly surprises me that of all the baseball video games, peanuts/charlie brown baseball game.
Anyway, nice video! I remember liking the review of the game on GameInformer when 10 came out and seeing the pictures thinking this was the closest to realistic graphics could get.
Sadly,i was correct.
Man first mlb game also.. damn 2 videos of yours of my first MLB, NFL games in a row have me in my nostalgia feelings 🤣
I remember this game well. I didn't play it much but when I did I sure had a good time with it
EA Sports: I can't even get a left handed QB throw left handed.
I remember I got this with my ps3 back in the day😂 well played Mauer
Such a good game. I was about 9 or 10 when this came out. I remember going to my friends house and we would all play the game. Great memories.
I agree, the small details made it great, one that I noticed that it was seen for the last time on MLB 13 was the animation where the catcher throws the ball back to the pitcher all the time with out interruptions like we see in today's MLB games since 2014.
That animation was done so seamlessly in MLB 2K11. I don't know if MLB 10 The Show managed to do this while creating as seamless of a transition
Man your videos really helped me through a hard time recently believe it or not. Thank you bro! And please keep up the good work
All of the show games prior to 16 deserve appreciation. A true example of each year building on the year prior. After 16 the stagnation began. Then the removals and DD began….and now we are at where it is now
IIRC this was the first Show game I owned. I bought it after being away from baseball for a few years and it really helped me get back into baseball
From personal experience, a lot of stuff that ends with a “10” usually ends up being good.
Also, what would you say is the best Show game for the PS4?
2k10
Mlb the show 16
So happy you're focusing on the MLB side of sports now. SDS hit their peak on the PS3, and it's using the same stale engine from those days.
Also, saying the franchise mode is "rich" is a stretch. SDS created March to October (MTO) and has focused more on that than Franchise itself.
Idk if this is the one with the intro being about the year of pitching but whichever that one is , that was a really good one .
I loved 2008 and 2013 the show. I wasn't a huge fan of this one at the time, but maybe I was wrong
I didn’t get to enjoy the Show on console but got to on my PSP and man I loved it so much!
When i first got my PS3 as a Kid, this was one of the first games i got, along with MW2, RDR, and Saints Row 2😢
I still remember to this day I went to Walmart to pick it up maybe a week after it came out. I think my big sister had taken me to the store to get my bday present. And i chose MLB the show 10.
I used to play the show religiously, it was my favorite game and my personal favorite version was 06, largely because of an awesome soundtrack and nostalgia. The gameplay peaked on the PS3
Could you do Tiger Woods?
I played MLB 10 The Show on my PSP as a kid it was one of my favorite games on long car rides
Had this on my PSP. My favorite show game of all time
At 2:30, you show MLB 2005 (released in 2004) instead of MLB 2006 (released in 2005). Sony was still doing the one-year-ahead thing.
Baseball is coming back to life tho and I love it!
I’ve been playing the show since MLB 2006 the show…all have been great, I enjoyed 22
More than 23
I played this game from 2010 to 2017 on the PS2 and I needed this confirmation bias
I like ur content man keep up the good work man
Found your channel in a recommendation under "NTE". I really enjoy what you create and post! Unique and entertaining!
My favorite sports game of all time, I was playing this game after I purchased MLB 12. Nothing has compared since, even the iterations after that. MLB 11 was great but I do remember a really annoying lag in that game.
My left ear enjoyed that intro :))
Aw man. I edited with speakers so I didn't notice. That sucks
@@SOFTDRINKTV lmao it's all good another great video! Rest of the video sound was perfect
@@emoo.182 Do you think I should cut out the intro then so the entire video's audio is consistent, or just leave it as is?

@@SOFTDRINKTV great video though I've been playing 09 on the PS2 it's so much fun, this makes me want to buy a PS3 just to play this game!!
I remember buying this game in 2016 and loving it so much.
MLB 10 the show was my 1st PS3 game I bought and played...2009
I’ve been playing MLB the show 12 lately but I Goodwill had this in stock when I was there so I scooped it up and I’ve keen enjoying 10 more than 12 actually. The pitching seems more controllable, less random, and more realistic all at the same time.
Bro..I ask you this in EVERY video and you ignore me in EVERY video, but here I go again...WHAT'S THE SONG AT 9:13???

@@SOFTDRINKTV You sure? Nothing named "Carwash" is coming up
It's not on UA-cam. It's from a pack on dopeboykits.com
@@SOFTDRINKTV Damn. Thanks for the help 😩
I got a 32 game hitting streak going.. Some went down to the last at bat.. Nerves
It’s almost as if having competition makes EVERYONE BETTER AND ULTIMATELY THE CONSUMER WINS. I guess that’s why EA decided it was just easier to create a MONOPOLY instead of ACTUALLY TRYING TO MAKE A QUALITY PRODUCT PEOPLE WANTED TO PURCHASE!!
About the MLB license it was MLB itself that decided to get rid of 2K baseball bc 13 sucked so much. 10-13 are all pretty damn similar. Franchise peaked in the 10-13 era BUT actually playing and it suffers from some issues where the AI teams operate pretty similarly in the long run spending a ton for lengthy contracts for older guys. Gameplay is not scripted like a lot of folks will have you believe. RTTS was the mark of these games up until 2020 imo. The addition of ball physics has added to the game exponentially from 17 through current day. I like the idea of ticket prices but I can prove that they don't matter a ton to how your team operates.
If only the NFL were that SMART with EA.
@@Fender178 none of these games are smart to restrict who gets the licensure of there games even if a game sucks bc no one truly would expect the league themselves to even know a thing about creating a game, no blame would go to them. Theyre using the price to keep developers away from their product.
@@StateoftheFranchiseGaming What I mean by is that the NFL would Ditch EA due to the fact how shitty Madden has been which means any developer can pay the NFL for a license is all I am saying.
@@Fender178 they aren't going to do that unless there is a competitor who is given a chance to make a similar game and shows it will outsell Madden
@@StateoftheFranchiseGaming True.
Loved the soundtrack
I played 2K’s MyTeam heavily from 2K20 through 2K22. I still play FIFA Ultimate Team b/c I’m ‘addicted’ now. When compared to those game’s ultimate team modes, Diamond Dynasty is still the least pay to win among the 3. I hardly feel the need to play online or buy stubs to build a solid, great squad. Playing RTTS will get you a lot of XP for programs and packs. As well as playing conquests maps. All in all, I wish EA could bring back MVP Baseball. Those 2 competing could really drive the baseball sim forward.
It was the best sports game on the PSP, without a doubt. Had both Franchise and RTTS, which was awesome. Spent so many hours on that game, and threw my only perfect game ever with C.C. Sabathia.
literally would give anything to have this exact franchise mode & menu interface/look in today's game I'd probably still be playing 23 right now if so!!!
