To those of us on this side of the border, Alex will always be thought of as Canadian. So very deserving of all the accolades. A charming gentleman, articulate and smart, generous to the University of Ottawa and many charitable causes here and in the States. He's taken Jeopardy with him. Irreplaceable. I recall fondly all of the shows he hosted here, particularly Music Hop, Reach For The Top and one program in particular, Pitfall which has some interesting background. Thank you, Alex, for bringing some much needed class to the medium of television. Canada is proud to call you ours.
He had an amazing run. What a man-funny, kind, warm, able to make fun of himself, happy, and brought knowledge to people every weeknight for decades. Thank you for everything. Good night, Mr. Trebek.
I remember Alex hosting not just Jeopardy! I also remember him hosting Classic Concentration in the 80s. What I didn't know that he also hosted High Rollers in 1979, Double Dare and To Tell the Truth in the 80s and 90s. He will truly and certainly be missed. We all love you Alex. Thank you. So many wonderful memories of this man through my entire life. I can remember being a kid in the 80s, just a couple of years after the show first aired - watching it every tuesday night with my grandparents as they baby sat my sister and I. So sad. Alex was a class act - through and through.
Alex was an game show host icon. As long as Jeopardy airs and repeats of his other shows he hosted continues to air on Buzzr his work will never be forgotten.
