Yep. As Destiel shipper (it's my personal opinion and I don't need it canon btw) I know of Jensen's thoughts and it's totally okay seriously and I hate it that fans keep harassing the actors about it but your title made me a little scared to watch it xD curiosity made me watch it in the end... oh and btw just watched a twitter discussion where one argument was if the actors especially Jensen of course like/ship Destiel or not. To make it short: some people thought even Jensen would be comfortable with it now, some people think he's not comfortable with it xD
I think he really likes all kinds of attention, he is tough skinned enough not to take it close to heart, but to laugh at kids and weard adults with strange fetishes.
It's almost traceable that Jensen got so vehement against Destiel about the same time people started openly shipping him and Misha. Ship the characters all you want but leave the actors alone, it's rude and disrespectful to push your fantasies on them.

My biggest issue is always the fan art. Like, you can’t stop people from shipping who they want, but I’ll never understand why fans feel a need to share it with the actors. The fan art gets so intense and then they show the actors and you can clearly see the discomfort, but they never stop
Late to the party. But I'm a hardcore Destiel shipper. I feel weird about it because the fan art can be a bit abstract. It can be quite unsettling, and I read the lemony stuff, but sometimes it's too much. Guys we want the characters to get together not the actors. There's a difference!
I agree. It's just insensitive - those are oversexed fans that are projecting their libido on these actors, who are in a totally non-sexual show. Not cool.
but i can understand jensen statement: both agreed that no one could say a thing about it. there are a kind of "punishments", that is implicit in misha's statement. so they weren't allowed to talk about. CW was the boss, ditated the rules. Meanwhile explored the subject appreciated by fans creating episodes with destiel focus. But no one could talk about. We sell the product but we can't talk about it. Looks like a drug dealer. Now it's different. Jensen has a very different position about the subject.
Dean has called castiel his brother in I think in season 11. Besides in the latest jibcon castiel admitted he's just like an adopted sibling to both Winchesters. Jensen has always maintained that he isn't comfortable with destiel and shipping questions, fanart were banned from any further cons. I dont understand why some fans are determined to rub their ship on his face. Poor fellow. Leave him be.

I would imagine they get tired of getting asked about Destiel all the time. It was funny at first but when you bring up the SAME conversation EVERY SINGLE YEAR = it gets old.
@@jucy588 ~ YES! Yes it does. That is why storylines like "Souless Sam" and "Demo Dean" are so popular. Variants on the storyline like "Wayward Sisters" are implemented into the show and episodes like "The French Mistake" and "Scooby Doo" were worked in to the storyline. LOL Hell, they even broke the 4th wall with a musical episode of Supernatural. So I would say "Yes", you must have variety or it will get pretty lame watching the exact same thing everyday.......just like eating the exact same meal everyday....eventually you will get tired of it.
I actually started watching Supernatural because of the amount fanfiction that the serie have so I was intrigued about the characters and "Destiel" but I was disappointed at the interaction between those two so I don't understand the ship. I loved the plot and the Winchester brothers with all my heart tho
I ship them but I understand that it doesn't make Jensen comfortable and it really doesn't exist at all other than in fan fiction and people's imaginations, including my own. People just need to be more respectful and stop bringing it up with him. He has made it clear in the past that it is not real.

I ship destiel very much and i understand why other destiel shippers might want to get answers but constantly harassing the actors are not the way to do it. And i am not saying that the people who ask these questions are trying to harass the actors i am pretty sure they love the actors as much as i or anyone does.
honestly I think it's all in good fun and all the guys have fun with it in different ways. Dean has fun with it by saying "that doesn't exist" but he goes right into it all the time, sometimes he even instigates it.

The real sad part about this topic is how quick both sides are to jump on the hate train while insulting and harassing each other, not to mention the actors. Have you thought about it that possibly one of the reasons why Jensen dislikes Destiel is because of the constant questions and hate he gets? This fandom is so blessed to have these wonderful actors who are constantly on cons trying to get close to us and give us the best experience (unfortunately I still haven't had that luck) ... But you all go and try fuck the good thing we have. We're all a big family in the end, in trying times we have to do our best to stick together regardless of what you ship and don't ship. I know there's always going to be exceptions but we should try to stop the hate and start expanding our mutual love for this amazing show.
Oof I said dislike but yes that's exactly my point. Like every big fandom, there's a lot of problems about ships. It's unfortunate that some Destiel shippers can't seem to distinguish reality from fiction and would go that far. I'm a fan myself but I wouldn't dream of doing such selfish thing besides, it's not even their decision to go forward with it or not, it's the writers (though obviously if the actors dont feel comfortable, Im sure they wouldn't force them). I agree with Jensen. Destial does not exist. Fan are free to imagine and fanfiction and all that but it is not there in canon. Its a pure friendship based on years of trust and bond :) I personally do not ship them just see them as brothers without blood relation :D
Kaylin Small I think those who genuinely ship them accept that they are not canon but still choose to ship them. There are some rude shippers that just do not respect others views but i guess they exst in every fandom.
I’ve been seeing a lot of hate in these comments from a normally very kind and supportive fandom. It was disheartening to say the least. Calling all Destiel shippers not real fans, aside from being just plain rude, is unjustified. You can’t decide that for someone else. Just because you stick to strictly canon ideas doesn’t mean you have more authority over who is a fan and who isn’t. And I realize there are Destiel shippers who take things too far but you have that in LITERALLY every fandom. But that doesn’t mean that is the majority. Most Destiel shippers understand that it’s just a ship. A non-canon ship. Yes. Jensen isn’t the biggest fan but saying he hates it, I agree with many others here, is a bit of a stretch. I think he’s probably tired of frequent fan questions and all the ship harassment from the minority group of shippers but going so far as to say hate? I would disagree. Hate is a strong word. Yes, I’m sure he has a dislike for it, but not so far as to say hate. And putting hate in the title only goes to validate (in their minds) people’s negative opinions on Destiel shippers. Jensen doesn’t ship it. But that doesn’t mean he hates it. Also, Misha does add fuel to the ship fire on purpose on many occasions. Not that it makes it any more true, just that he does purposely make jokes and tease the fans on occasion. Obviously Jensen and Misha are on different comfort levels with the ship and that’s fine. Subtext and tv tropes are a thing. And there’s enough there to support the idea of Destiel. No, that does not mean it’s canon or will be canon. It just means that there’s common tropes and subtext that in many other shows do lead to a romantic relationship. But that doesn’t mean it will, just that it can. Supernatural likely won’t. It will stay purely platonic and won’t cross the subtext line. Which most fans are fine with. It’s not as if they hate the brotherly platonic relationship they do have. It also bothered me that people are saying that they have wives and children as a reason why Destiel is wrong. Now, yes if it’s shipping cockles that’s fair, because that is directly shipping Jensen and Misha. But not Destiel. One: Dean and Cass are FICTIONAL. Two: they are actors and have to act in relationships all the time. Sometimes it’s not ideal, like in the vampire diaries, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder had to still be in an on screen relationship as Damon and Elena after they had broken up in real life. That had to be uncomfortable but they did it because that was what was best for the show and they felt they could handle it like adults. Jensen has to get up close and personal with many women on the show because Dean’s a player sometimes. What about his wife and children then? Yes, Misha is one of his best friends and maybe it would be weird to get that up close and personal but no one would force them into, but it wouldn’t be the first time an actor did something that was a little out of their comfort zone. But they obviously would have the choice whether or not to get slightly up close and personal. Hell, the majority of Destiel shippers would be happy with just some hand holding. Now I 100% think that Jensen should be shown respect and not be bombarded with Destiel questions and shouldn’t get hate because he’s not a shipper. If that’s not something he’s comfortable with talking about then that’s that. Respect his choice. Respect is a thing BOTH sides need to keep in mind. Non-shippers do not need to attack shippers and call shippers not real fans or say they are delusional. That’s just mean and hurtful and only fuels more hate. And shippers, while it’s ok to express ship love, let’s remember not to go overboard with it, especially to Jensen and when you know you’re talking to people who don’t necessarily ship it. You don’t have to like what someone ships or doesn’t ship but there’s no reason to be so hurtful towards the other side. It’s not going to change anyone’s mind one way or the other. All it does is cause your fellow fans pain and cause more of a rift within the fandom. If you don’t understand a ship or why people don’t ship something, maybe ask and have an actual conversation with someone. I’m not saying this video is unfair or shouldn’t have been made, creator’s choice of content is definitely a thing and should be respected, but I will say the title seems bit unfair. It’s very leading and encourages the already existing hate. The comments section is very much full of it. Jensen never said he hates Destiel. He clearly isn’t a fan so maybe saying “Jensen isn’t a fan of Destiel” would have been less harsh and seem like less of an attack at shippers (even if it was unintentional) Also, do people really think the actors would want their fans being so mean-spirited towards each other? I don’t think so. I think they would encourage open dialogue and respect. I do ship Destiel. I can see the rational behind it. I know it’s not canon. I know it will likely never be canon. I like the canon relationship Dean and Cass do have. I started the show not understanding much about Destiel but knowing it existed because that was kind of my introduction to SPN through cosplayers. And I watched and then understood. It’s not why I watch the show. I love most of the storylines as they are. And the ones I don’t, have nothing to do with Destiel. I’ve watched all 13 seasons and love the show for what it is. Respect is a thing. We are generally such a great fandom. Let’s not let a disagreement in ships ruin that. You don’t have to agree on a ship but we all should be able to agree on respecting the people on both sides.

I don't ship Destiel, but I don't care that people do. What bothers me is the fans who treat Destiel and Dean being bisexual as canon when it's not. Within the canon of the show, Dean is straight and he views Cas as a best friend/brother. It's been stated very clearly by Jensen and the writers that Dean is straight, and Destiel therefore will not happen. Everyone knows about Destiel, so sure the actors might talk about it, but that doesn't change the fact that it only exists in fanfiction. It honestly baffles me how some fans continue to argue that Destiel is practically canon and that Dean is a closeted bisexual when Jensen has literally flat out said that it's not true. He literally stated very bluntly and clearly that "Destiel doesn't exist." What more do people need?

But there is a lot I mean I personally am a big fan of both of those head canons and they make jokes and address it in the show it’s basically qeeurbaiting like they mention all these things and hint towards it but then deny it it’s annoying and even tho I think some things about destiel and dean being bi are obvious it will never be canon and I’m tried of people acting like it and I catch myself doing it too and I hate it I agree with you 100%
Anyone intending to make a rude comment against Jensen read my comment first. I understand it is a quite popular ship and many people take it seriously but just imagine if a crowd of enthusiasts is insisting you have a SEXUAL relationship with someone when it isn’t true . It’ll surely make you uncomfortable especially when it is a person who you work with and consider a brother ( or his character, in this case). For those who say Jensen is incorrect on Destiel not existing: he IS Dean Winchester, he knows the story and the characters better than any of us fans and you should be lucky Jensen says what he says politely in a funny way considering you guys are trying to push the whole Destiel thing down his throat basically at every convention which is probably every month or so. Jensen is a reserved guy who is happily married with kids and anything said about Dean basically affects him so we should all be considerate while asking him questions. PS we are all a family and it’s our job to support our boys and this amazing show that gives us life and reduce fights and also look at concrete evidence like dialogues before passing theories.

Sammy Hackerson I never said that Destiel is the sole reason for fights in our fandom. I say the same thing for Wincest and for people who ship J2 as a couple. I personally am a Bibro fan ( one who ships the Winchesters purely as brothers) and also believe in a BROTHERLY bond between J2 . I chose this because I am a true SPN Family member who focuses more on the real essence of the show and I have no HATE for the other ships. I just call to everyone to be logical and polite.
I have been watching Supernatural from its inception and I have never thought of Dean and Castiel like that. Actually I thought of Castiel as another brother to the Winchesters. They are a family with each other and I like them all having bromances.

Mkay I'm seeing people basically shit on destiel shippers in the comments and Imma say It's really Jensen's personal preference and discomfort over the ship bring shown here which is valid. You don't wanna hear about you and your colleague/friend in a relationship when the both of you are married with kids. I get it. Dean and Castiel are fictional characters. Shipping them together is okay no harm done. It doesn't make you a bad spn fan or something. Being a bad fan means hating on others to make sure your point remains valid. Jensen is allowed to have his view on the characters and the fandom is allowed to have their own views.
Deerstalker Headcanons I think the problem isn't so much Destiel as it is the shippers who view it as canon (or practically canon). I myself have shipped characters together despite knowing that is won't happen in the show. I still ship them, but I recognize that it is purely fanfiction. The problem is that a lot of Destiel shippers vehemently insist that Destiel exists, is practically canon, and that Dean is bisexuel despite the fact that the only canon "Destiel" within the show is that Dean and Cas view each other as best friends/brothers. The only "Destiel" love that exists within the canon of the show is a platonic one. And within the shows canon, Dean is straight. This has been confirmed by actors and writers alike. Jensen himself has stated that "Destiel doesn't exist" and he has not played Dean as being romantically and/or sexually attracted to Cas. Yet people continue to harrass Jensen about this. The amount of hate Jensen has received because of this is heartbreaking. So people can ship Destiel all they want, and there is nothing wrong with that, but they also need to recognize that their ship is fan-made. It is fanfiction that doesn't exist within in the canon of the show, and should be treated as such. The people insisting otherwise are the problem.

The destiel shippers you see here who ask intrusive questions are a small but very loud fraction of the destiel community. Because it's like these people are actually few. Ok so earlier I read an article and it said people are starting to think Jensen is Homophobic. No he's not. I mean if you were shipped, one with the same gender and you were straight and two with your good/ best friend than wouldn't that make you uncomfortable? Always getting bombarded with a situation you're not comfortable with, it would be stressful and annoying. I'm not a fan of the ships.... I take the characters for how they are protrayed. If someone wants to take that to the next level for themselves, that's fine. I've never felt it was right to ask the actors (or to ship the actors themselves, which I've seen also). That should stay as a private fantasy and no one should yell at someone who doesn't like the ships (which has also happened).
I'm glad that Jensen said that it doesn't exist and that Misha kinda humorously dealt with the idea. I never thought it did exist and I don't even understand it, frankly. I'm not judging at all, I just feel that for me, I couldn't even go there and feel it's disrespectful. I suppose it can be sort of a form of flattery, but these guys are all happily married with small children at home.

I still think it's stupid. When it aired out seemed massively forced and unfair to the history. Cas isn't even technically Male cas inhabits a Male vessel. So the fact that they are trying to make it a gay moment is bull. I get that he can love him but it's not like it is something returned. Hmm personally I don't ship Destiel, but like half the fandom does. I respect it, but I would never ask Jensen or Jared about one of the ships I like. Like I personally don't like Destiel because of the fact that early on in the show I saw Dean as really rude to Castiel. I mean, he may have changed, but I just, I don't know, never thought about them being together after that. I personally don't have any ships I REALLY like, but I'm fine with ships like Sastiel, Sam x Gabriel, and others similar. I just realized I don't ship Dean with anyone. I only ship Sam with people. Even so, I feel like asking someone about a ship is pretty rude unless it's canon. Especially if it is portraying a sexuality he may not be. He seems to be obviously annoyed with these types of questions whenever they are mentioned, so I don't know why anyone would ask. (Sorry if this offends anyone. It was not my attention to do so, I just wanted to state my outlook on this.)

The thing that bothers me about Destiel fans(not all of them mind you, but the rude ones) is this assumption that it IS in fact canon and that anytime Jensen denies it or refuses to talk about it, he's automatically labelled as homophobic. I'm all for fans wanting to explore non-Canon ships, I love some Destiel fanvids. But just because you ship it, doesn't make it real and at this point, it's becoming harassing to the actors. I mean, is there not even a scene several season ago where Dean explicitly says he doesn't swing that way? I think it's the one with the golem, but in any case, I just don't think Dean in the Supernatural canon is gay or even bi. For 13 seasons he's come across pretty explicitly as straight. I'm not trying to ruin anyone's ship, but please, leave the actors out of it. I think he doesn't want to keep bringing it up because it went a bit to far with some "fans" make death threats toward his family. You can fantasize about anything you want just don't take it to the fanatical insisting it has to be real. People who have been sexually harassed at a job should understand this, after a while the lack of respect of someone's feeling begin asked to stop is hurtful. I would have rather seen 20 more year than have people quit because the harassing becomes to much.

I could see why. Some people are a bit overbearing about it. But personally I just like the fanon content. It's all fun and games to me as a shipper. Yes, I love the ship and would be overjoyed if it was canon in just like, an alternate world, but at the same time I love the canon, brotherly relationship they have.
I don’t understand why can’t Cas and Dean be like brothers instead of romantic. I’m not downing those who like the idea but I like the fact the show isn’t focused on romantic interests

Exactly. I am not a Destiel shipper. No way. And if any of the main characters (Sam, Dean, Cas) got in a serious romantic relationship, especially with each other, the whole show would be thrown off balance and it would no longer be the show we love. If Destiel became real, we'd most likely no longer get the brotherly love between Sam and Dean as much. I mean, Sam has already been sidelined a lot recently, but if Destiel happened he'd pretty much be off the show. It would be too much romance. Sam, Dean and Cas are brothers. It has been said multiple times that they are family/brothers. Why do people feel the need to take perfectly good friendships and twist things to make them apparently in love? It's just stupid really...
There is a tougher question - why can't Dean an SAM be only and purely brothers instead of lovers when actors and creators are obviously not very exited and entertained by the idea. Destiel isn't a thing. Dean never showed any signs of being Bi. If you want to have fan fiction great but don't force something that isn't in there simply because you want to make Dean gay.
Shipping is fine just don’t only ask them about that. They have to see each other so much and everyone saying their characters are in love can be uncomfortable for some (Jensen). If we all stay respectful it’s ok. Don’t hate on shippers just leave us alone if you don’t agree.
Jensen does not hate Destiel. One thing is not support the ship and another is hating it. Actually trough the years he's been more and more open and supportive about it. As in teasing the fans saying things he makes us happy. I personally think he doesn't pay attention about it but he doesn't get embarrased or feels uncomfortable around that topic anymore. He is playful and when he's in the mood he goes along. If he's not, he just ignores it. That is not hate.

I think Jensen is doing the right thing in making calls for Deans character. I don't think Dean would come out and say he loves someone becuase everyone he loves gets hurt and after the Lisa and Ben thing I would fear that as well. I could see it becomning cannon but I also could see Dean dying without ever realizing that he loves Cas that way.
I agree with most everything you wrote, except Dean barely being able to stand Cas. That's just crazy. He has told him on many occasions how much he means to both of them. He sees Cas like a brother-he told him he was like a brother to him-, and we all know how much Dean loves his brother. So I can't see where you get that he barely tolerates him.
i don’t mind the ship, it’s a cute ship but at the same time it’s kinda wired. It’s wired cuz I feel like Dean is just a straight guy. This is not me being homophobic, trust me i’m not for obvious reasons, but Dean... is not gay, for obvious reasons. And sure, the theory of him being bisexual is definitely out there, but in all fairness, every time a guy hit on Dean in the show (which has happened in both recent and past seasons) or when he was assumed to be gay with Sam, he was very noticeably uncomfortable. I just don’t see this as a suitable cannon ship. Dean has also mentioned Cass to be like family. It’s like shipping Charlie with Dean, you wouldn’t because she’s a lesbian, and like a sister to Dean. Idk, this is just my take on it, i personally don’t care if you ship them or not. If you do, you do... but just don’t hate on each other based on who ships what and who doesn’t. Ok, this whole Destiel thing is getting so old! People are entitled to their ships, of course, but to continually ask/hound the guys about it becoming canon or their feelings about it is extremely rude! Over the years, Jensen has said time and time again how he feels about it, and Misha probably doesn't care one way or the other. I've read comments about how Jensen is rude to fans who ask about Destiel, or acts homophobic or all number of things (Jensen's favorite aunt is happily married to another woman. Homophobic? I don't think so!) If you were asked about the same thing over and over and over again, wouldn't you get a little testy too? And as far as Dean being bisexual. WTH? Are we watching the same show? The one girl brought up Dean's "crush" on Dr. Sexy, which apparently proves Dean's bisexuality. Um, I'm straight, but if I met my favorite actress, I'd go all kinds of fangirl! Does that mean I'm sexually attracted to her? Nope. Does that mean I respect her and can't believe I'm meeting her? Yep. And BTW, before the hate starts, I couldn't care less about your sexuality. Jensen has no say in it, though. He's not the Showrunner. That said, Dean is definitely straight. Cass is not. Cass clearly loves Dean as more than a friend, but it isn't reciprocated. That's how it was written.

I don't usually comment on UA-cam, but I wanted to say this. Is it not possible nowadays to simply have a close friendship or special bond with someone without it being "romantic"? Why do people shove you in the spotlight, claim you have a secret crush on each other, and start shipping you? I'm sure I'm not the only one to who this has happened... When you ship a pair of characters, leave it with JUST the characters. Please don't start shipping the actors or whoever is portraying the characters being shipped. They're just having fun and doing their best to add an enjoyable and interesting element to the story! While some actors do get deep into their characters, it's important to remember that outside of the show/story, they are NOT their characters. They are their own people, with their own feelings, personalities, and their own lives. Let them be themselves! I'm not saying it's wrong to ship characters (after all, I still ship a few... such as Tiva from NCIS). Just... please be mindful of it and don't overdo it. 🙂
I don't really ship Destiel, I'm not homophobic, I'm Pansexual, i have a girlfriend, But to me. I only see them as brothers/best friends. I don't mind if you guys ship them. Yes. I grew up with SPN but to me, I only see them as family.

I met Vic Fuentes of Pierce The Veil at Warped Tour on June 22nd and there's a ship name between him and Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens and I DID NOT say anything about it to Vic! Is Destiel legit canon per the shows writers and creators or are certain fans just reading too much into things? I’m not trying to sound insensitive but just because Cas professed to Dean that he “loved” him doesn’t mean it was hinting at a potential romantic relationship had Cas stayed out of the Empty. I’d think he loved both the boys for teaching him the elements of humanity, among other things. Just my thought.
Unless the actual creator and writers of the show decide Destiel is a real thing then it doesn't exist. Fans can write fanfiction about it but that doesn't make it canon. All the fanfiction out there has to have the disclaimer the characters don't belong to them and they don't so stop pushing it on the actors.

I just wish they had incorporated the unrequited love storyline a long time ago instead of just springing it all of a sudden in one of the last episodes.

My biggest issue is always the fan art. Like, you can’t stop people from shipping who they want, but I’ll never understand why fans feel a need to share it with the actors. The fan art gets so intense and then they show the actors and you can clearly see the discomfort, but they never stop

Variants on the storyline like "Wayward Sisters" are implemented into the show and episodes like "The French Mistake" and "Scooby Doo" were worked in to the storyline. LOL Hell, they even broke the 4th wall with a musical episode of Supernatural.
So I would say "Yes", you must have variety or it will get pretty lame watching the exact same thing everyday.......just like eating the exact same meal everyday....eventually you will get tired of it.

Like every big fandom, there's a lot of problems about ships. It's unfortunate that some Destiel shippers can't seem to distinguish reality from fiction and would go that far.
I'm a fan myself but I wouldn't dream of doing such selfish thing besides, it's not even their decision to go forward with it or not, it's the writers (though obviously if the actors dont feel comfortable, Im sure they wouldn't force them).
Its quite horrible that the actors have to see such a horrible part of the fandom when we have a lot of good things too.
I love that even though it clearly makes him uncomfortable, he's good about it. Although it's terrible that people ask him things like that when we all know how he feels about it:/

I agree with Jensen. Destial does not exist. Fan are free to imagine and fanfiction and all that but it is not there in canon. Its a pure friendship based on years of trust and bond :) I personally do not ship them just see them as brothers without blood relation :D

I’ve been seeing a lot of hate in these comments from a normally very kind and supportive fandom. It was disheartening to say the least.
Calling all Destiel shippers not real fans, aside from being just plain rude, is unjustified. You can’t decide that for someone else. Just because you stick to strictly canon ideas doesn’t mean you have more authority over who is a fan and who isn’t.
And I realize there are Destiel shippers who take things too far but you have that in LITERALLY every fandom. But that doesn’t mean that is the majority. Most Destiel shippers understand that it’s just a ship. A non-canon ship.
Yes. Jensen isn’t the biggest fan but saying he hates it, I agree with many others here, is a bit of a stretch. I think he’s probably tired of frequent fan questions and all the ship harassment from the minority group of shippers but going so far as to say hate? I would disagree. Hate is a strong word. Yes, I’m sure he has a dislike for it, but not so far as to say hate. And putting hate in the title only goes to validate (in their minds) people’s negative opinions on Destiel shippers. Jensen doesn’t ship it. But that doesn’t mean he hates it. Also, Misha does add fuel to the ship fire on purpose on many occasions. Not that it makes it any more true, just that he does purposely make jokes and tease the fans on occasion. Obviously Jensen and Misha are on different comfort levels with the ship and that’s fine.
Subtext and tv tropes are a thing. And there’s enough there to support the idea of Destiel. No, that does not mean it’s canon or will be canon. It just means that there’s common tropes and subtext that in many other shows do lead to a romantic relationship. But that doesn’t mean it will, just that it can. Supernatural likely won’t. It will stay purely platonic and won’t cross the subtext line. Which most fans are fine with. It’s not as if they hate the brotherly platonic relationship they do have.
It also bothered me that people are saying that they have wives and children as a reason why Destiel is wrong. Now, yes if it’s shipping cockles that’s fair, because that is directly shipping Jensen and Misha. But not Destiel. One: Dean and Cass are FICTIONAL. Two: they are actors and have to act in relationships all the time. Sometimes it’s not ideal, like in the vampire diaries, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder had to still be in an on screen relationship as Damon and Elena after they had broken up in real life. That had to be uncomfortable but they did it because that was what was best for the show and they felt they could handle it like adults. Jensen has to get up close and personal with many women on the show because Dean’s a player sometimes. What about his wife and children then? Yes, Misha is one of his best friends and maybe it would be weird to get that up close and personal but no one would force them into, but it wouldn’t be the first time an actor did something that was a little out of their comfort zone. But they obviously would have the choice whether or not to get slightly up close and personal. Hell, the majority of Destiel shippers would be happy with just some hand holding.
Now I 100% think that Jensen should be shown respect and not be bombarded with Destiel questions and shouldn’t get hate because he’s not a shipper. If that’s not something he’s comfortable with talking about then that’s that. Respect his choice. Respect is a thing BOTH sides need to keep in mind. Non-shippers do not need to attack shippers and call shippers not real fans or say they are delusional. That’s just mean and hurtful and only fuels more hate. And shippers, while it’s ok to express ship love, let’s remember not to go overboard with it, especially to Jensen and when you know you’re talking to people who don’t necessarily ship it. You don’t have to like what someone ships or doesn’t ship but there’s no reason to be so hurtful towards the other side. It’s not going to change anyone’s mind one way or the other. All it does is cause your fellow fans pain and cause more of a rift within the fandom. If you don’t understand a ship or why people don’t ship something, maybe ask and have an actual conversation with someone.
I’m not saying this video is unfair or shouldn’t have been made, creator’s choice of content is definitely a thing and should be respected, but I will say the title seems bit unfair. It’s very leading and encourages the already existing hate. The comments section is very much full of it. Jensen never said he hates Destiel. He clearly isn’t a fan so maybe saying “Jensen isn’t a fan of Destiel” would have been less harsh and seem like less of an attack at shippers (even if it was unintentional)
Also, do people really think the actors would want their fans being so mean-spirited towards each other? I don’t think so. I think they would encourage open dialogue and respect.
I do ship Destiel. I can see the rational behind it. I know it’s not canon. I know it will likely never be canon. I like the canon relationship Dean and Cass do have. I started the show not understanding much about Destiel but knowing it existed because that was kind of my introduction to SPN through cosplayers. And I watched and then understood. It’s not why I watch the show. I love most of the storylines as they are. And the ones I don’t, have nothing to do with Destiel. I’ve watched all 13 seasons and love the show for what it is.
Respect is a thing. We are generally such a great fandom. Let’s not let a disagreement in ships ruin that. You don’t have to agree on a ship but we all should be able to agree on respecting the people on both sides.

I don't ship Destiel, but I don't care that people do. What bothers me is the fans who treat Destiel and Dean being bisexual as canon when it's not. Within the canon of the show, Dean is straight and he views Cas as a best friend/brother. It's been stated very clearly by Jensen and the writers that Dean is straight, and Destiel therefore will not happen. Everyone knows about Destiel, so sure the actors might talk about it, but that doesn't change the fact that it only exists in fanfiction. It honestly baffles me how some fans continue to argue that Destiel is practically canon and that Dean is a closeted bisexual when Jensen has literally flat out said that it's not true. He literally stated very bluntly and clearly that "Destiel doesn't exist." What more do people need?

Anyone intending to make a rude comment against Jensen read my comment first. I understand it is a quite popular ship and many people take it seriously but just imagine if a crowd of enthusiasts is insisting you have a SEXUAL relationship with someone when it isn’t true . It’ll surely make you uncomfortable especially when it is a person who you work with and consider a brother ( or his character, in this case). For those who say Jensen is incorrect on Destiel not existing: he IS Dean Winchester, he knows the story and the characters better than any of us fans and you should be lucky Jensen says what he says politely in a funny way considering you guys are trying to push the whole Destiel thing down his throat basically at every convention which is probably every month or so. Jensen is a reserved guy who is happily married with kids and anything said about Dean basically affects him so we should all be considerate while asking him questions. Sammy Hackerson I never said that Destiel is the sole reason for fights in our fandom. I say the same thing for Wincest and for people who ship J2 as a couple. I personally am a Bibro fan ( one who ships the Winchesters purely as brothers) and also believe in a BROTHERLY bond between J2 . I chose this because I am a true SPN Family member who focuses more on the real essence of the show and I have no HATE for the other ships. I just call to everyone to be logical and polite.

Deerstalker Headcanons I think the problem isn't so much Destiel as it is the shippers who view it as canon (or practically canon). I myself have shipped characters together despite knowing that is won't happen in the show. I still ship them, but I recognize that it is purely fanfiction. The problem is that a lot of Destiel shippers vehemently insist that Destiel exists, is practically canon, and that Dean is bisexuel despite the fact that the only canon "Destiel" within the show is that Dean and Cas view each other as best friends/brothers. The only "Destiel" love that exists within the canon of the show is a platonic one. And within the shows canon, Dean is straight. This has been confirmed by actors and writers alike. Jensen himself has stated that "Destiel doesn't exist" and he has not played Dean as being romantically and/or sexually attracted to Cas. Yet people continue to harrass Jensen about this. The amount of hate Jensen has received because of this is heartbreaking. So people can ship Destiel all they want, and there is nothing wrong with that, but they also need to recognize that their ship is fan-made. It is fanfiction that doesn't exist within in the canon of the show, and should be treated as such. The people insisting otherwise are the problem.

I'm not a fan of the ships.... I take the characters for how they are protrayed. If someone wants to take that to the next level for themselves, that's fine. I've never felt it was right to ask the actors (or to ship the actors themselves, which I've seen also). That should stay as a private fantasy and no one should yell at someone who doesn't like the ships (which has also happened).

Hmm personally I don't ship Destiel, but like half the fandom does. I respect it, but I would never ask Jensen or Jared about one of the ships I like. Like I personally don't like Destiel because of the fact that early on in the show I saw Dean as really rude to Castiel. I mean, he may have changed, but I just, I don't know, never thought about them being together after that. I personally don't have any ships I REALLY like, but I'm fine with ships like Sastiel, Sam x Gabriel, and others similar. I just realized I don't ship Dean with anyone. I only ship Sam with people. Even so, I feel like asking someone about a ship is pretty rude unless it's canon. Especially if it is portraying a sexuality he may not be. He seems to be obviously annoyed with these types of questions whenever they are mentioned, so I don't know why anyone would ask.

The thing that bothers me about Destiel fans(not all of them mind you, but the rude ones) is this assumption that it IS in fact canon and that anytime Jensen denies it or refuses to talk about it, he's automatically labelled as homophobic. I'm all for fans wanting to explore non-Canon ships, I love some Destiel fanvids. But just because you ship it, doesn't make it real and at this point, it's becoming harassing to the actors. I mean, is there not even a scene several season ago where Dean explicitly says he doesn't swing that way? I think it's the one with the golem, but in any case, I just don't think Dean in the Supernatural canon is gay or even bi. For 13 seasons he's come across pretty explicitly as straight. I'm not trying to ruin anyone's ship, but please, leave the actors out of it. I think he doesn't want to keep bringing it up because it went a bit to far with some "fans" make death threats toward his family. You can fantasize about anything you want just don't take it to the fanatical insisting it has to be real. People who have been sexually harassed at a job should understand this, after a while the lack of respect of someone's feeling begin asked to stop is hurtful. I would have rather seen 20 more year than have people quit because the harassing becomes to much.

Exactly. I am not a Destiel shipper. No way. And if any of the main characters (Sam, Dean, Cas) got in a serious romantic relationship, especially with each other, the whole show would be thrown off balance and it would no longer be the show we love. I mean, Sam has already been sidelined a lot recently, but if Destiel happened he'd pretty much be off the show. It would be too much romance. Sam, Dean and Cas are brothers. Jensen does not hate Destiel. One thing is not support the ship and another is hating it. Actually trough the years he's been more and more open and supportive about it. As in teasing the fans saying things he makes us happy. I personally think he doesn't pay attention about it but he doesn't get embarrased or feels uncomfortable around that topic anymore. He is playful and when he's in the mood he goes along. If he's not, he just ignores it. That is not hate.

I think Jensen is doing the right thing in making calls for Deans character. I don't think Dean would come out and say he loves someone becuase everyone he loves gets hurt and after the Lisa and Ben thing I would fear that as well. I could see it becomning cannon but I also could see Dean dying without ever realizing that he loves Cas that way.
I agree with most everything you wrote, except Dean barely being able to stand Cas. That's just crazy. He has told him on many occasions how much he means to both of them. He sees Cas like a brother-he told him he was like a brother to him-, and we all know how much Dean loves his brother. So I can't see where you get that he barely tolerates him.
i don’t mind the ship, it’s a cute ship but at the same time it’s kinda wired. It’s wired cuz I feel like Dean is just a straight guy. This is not me being homophobic, trust me i’m not for obvious reasons, but Dean... is not gay, for obvious reasons. And sure, the theory of him being bisexual is definitely out there, but in all fairness, every time a guy hit on Dean in the show (which has happened in both recent and past seasons) or when he was assumed to be gay with Sam, he was very noticeably uncomfortable. I just don’t see this as a suitable cannon ship. Dean has also mentioned Cass to be like family. It’s like shipping Charlie with Dean, you wouldn’t because she’s a lesbian, and like a sister to Dean. Idk, this is just my take on it, i personally don’t care if you ship them or not. If you do, you do... but just don’t hate on each other based on who ships what and who doesn’t. In the end we are all apart of the same supernatural family....... unless you ship Wincest, please.. for the love of god, stop shipping Sam and Dean..

Ok, this whole Destiel thing is getting so old! People are entitled to their ships, of course, but to continually ask/hound the guys about it becoming canon or their feelings about it is extremely rude! Over the years, Jensen has said time and time again how he feels about it, and Misha probably doesn't care one way or the other. I've read comments about how Jensen is rude to fans who ask about Destiel, or acts homophobic or all number of things (Jensen's favorite aunt is happily married to another woman. Homophobic? I don't think so!) If you were asked about the same thing over and over and over again, wouldn't you get a little testy too? And as far as Dean being bisexual. WTH? Are we watching the same show? The one girl brought up Dean's "crush" on Dr. Sexy, which apparently proves Dean's bisexuality. Um, I'm straight, but if I met my favorite actress, I'd go all kinds of fangirl! Does that mean I'm sexually attracted to her? Nope. Does that mean I respect her and can't believe I'm meeting her? Yep. And BTW, before the hate starts, I couldn't care less about your sexuality. To me it's nothing any different than eye color or height. It's just who you are. People are people and that's all there is to it and who you love is no one's business but your own. Is it not possible nowadays to simply have a close friendship or special bond with someone without it being "romantic"? Why do people shove you in the spotlight, claim you have a secret crush on each other, and start shipping you? I'm sure I'm not the only one to who this has happened...
When you ship a pair of characters, leave it with JUST the characters. Please don't start shipping the actors or whoever is portraying the characters being shipped. They're just having fun and doing their best to add an enjoyable and interesting element to the story! While some actors do get deep into their characters, it's important to remember that outside of the show/story, they are NOT their characters. They are their own people, with their own feelings, personalities, and their own lives. Let them be themselves!
I'm not saying it's wrong to ship characters (after all, I still ship a few... such as Tiva from NCIS). Just... please be mindful of it and don't overdo it. 🙂

I’m not trying to sound insensitive but just because Cas professed to Dean that he “loved” him doesn’t mean it was hinting at a potential romantic relationship had Cas stayed out of the Empty. Unless the actual creator and writers of the show decide Destiel is a real thing then it doesn't exist. Fans can write fanfiction about it but that doesn't make it canon. All the fanfiction out there has to have the disclaimer the characters don't belong to them and they don't so stop pushing it on the actors.

I just wish they had incorporated the unrequited love storyline a long time ago instead of just springing it all of a sudden in one of the last episodes.
