I TOTALLY AGREE! With all the different and sometimes difficult bureaucratic zoning laws it would also be great to report on where Tiny Houses are allowed to be. For example where can you buy a piece of property and be able to place a tiny home on it year round? What type of permits are required?
He kinda highlighted it towards the end but tiny houses seem to be the best route because you can place them on urban, rustic, or mixed property. Classic homes/yurts etc have super strict laws but the tiny houses since they are moveable give you a ton of flex

I love how creative you and Christina are getting with it all. $25-$35k for building a tiny house from scratch does indeed sound affordable. Be interesting to learn more about the regulations for these tiny houses built on trailers and subject to the laws geared toward “vehicles.”
Please do a video on taxes. As a US citizen living abroad you are still subject to US taxes on all income, absent renouncing citizenship. Please discuss.

Hi Amon, We are an American husband and wife on a D7 and we are NHR. We purchased a house paid in full way north of Porto about 9 months ago. No mortgage. We already want to sell this home and buy a new primary home in the Sintra area, also paying cash in full from the proceeds of the sale of our current house. You may be referring to tax regimes in countries other than the U. S. The U.S. taxes it's citizens on worldwide income forever - without regard to residency. Americans file taxes even if they live their entire lives outside the U.S. and have never set foot on American soil. So, there is no departure tax because you can never depart.

Question about hosting an AirBNB in Portugal. I have heard that the Portuguese government has stopped issuing AirBNB permits. Is the permit issued for the property or the host? Meaning that if we owned a flat, could a Superhost rent it out for us under their permit?
When the Golden Visa program was open, this channel was helpful, and inspiring. Perhaps the program will reopen someday, but in the meantime there are other countries (Greece, Malta, etc) that have these programs available. Some for residency, some for eventual EU citizenship. Not all are created equal, and not all offer true retirement ‘benefits’. Happy for these two that they got themselves sorted in Portugal in time, but the advice is sadly no longer relevant.
For the well being of the Portuguese Citizens, I STRONGLY HOPE that they NEVER bring back the golden visa for the purchase of residential properties. Another bonus, my understanding is that they have also recently put in place restrictions regarding the use of residential property as Airbnb rentals.

Could not disagree more. Gold VISA is not the only way to become a citizen here. We are well on our way and love our new country.
