On the duct detectors, the test tube holes need to point into the airflow. Some duct detectors , when you take the cover off, they will go into trouble (not alarm){duct detectors have 3 states: normal, alarm and trouble}, you should see a little tamper switch that monitors if the cover is on or off (some have a 3 minute delay). Duct detectors that are powered from the the RTU will go into trouble when the RTU main disconnect is turned off. If the duct detector is powered from the fire alarm system, it will not go into trouble when the RTU main disconnect is turned off.

If anybody says Kobe's name while trying to make a shot and they miss they have 8hours to do 24 pushups or any other form of reps of that count. Cool video bro. And if Gucci starts making tech apparel i want some of that hahahaha

If you don't want new wire to rub on metal frame recommend to put a zip tie on metal bracket, then zip tie wire to that zip tie loop. But probably just zip tying to prevent vibration is good enough, I just worry about zip tying it to tight to where it might cut into insulation at some point.

Just an observation, but the second smoke detector did not show red until you removed the cover. It may have a tamper switch which signals when the cover is removed. Just a thought

You should be wrapping the copper with tape where it passes through the steel clamp to prevent corrosion of dissimilar metals. Ideally they make a rubber grommet with a clamp one size larger than the actual line to isolate it thermally as well as dielectrally.

I have a question, did you double check that motor was shorted, and not just the cable to the case as you could see that it had rubbed through the insulation and shorted the wire to the case? Just curious. I too have found duct smoke detectors set off from loose belts (some smoking caused from friction) and also dust has set them off. Some UV tape on the new insulation will make it last a long time. Good job and keep up the good work.

Next time you use a strut clamp like that you should really tape the copper. Or just use a Cush clamp with the rubber included.

whats better ? going to an HVAC trade school or community college ? my community college offers the same classes w/labs as the trade schools around me at a fraction of the cost. both about a year for proficiency certificates. trade schools charge between $15,000 - $20,000 while my community college is about $50 per unit. 4 classes. 3 units each.

Shop I’m at we are commercial/industrial, refrigeration, restaurants. Typically we work 8 to 4 even in summer and on call every 10th to 12th week.
Some shops run their guys to the ground. Just depends on the owner.
