    A few things to note:
1- always open/close disconnect with your left hand. There’s a reason the lever is on the right side. This way your body isn’t in front of the panel when you energize or de-energize it. I’ve seen them blow and it’s isn’t pretty, especially if you’re standing in front of it.
2- check those compressor terminals and ohm out the windings
3- open up that electrical panel and tighten the wires on the breaker - many times a slightly loose wire will cause heat, tripping the breaker
Great videos man, keep up the great work!

Thanks for that info man! That 3-phase compressor doesn't need a run cap. Still attending a class in an HVAC school and they don't mentioned that, or maybe they just forgot.

I would measure for voltage drop across those contacts with it pulled in and loaded up. Anything over 1 volt should be replaced. I usually do if the scale switches from the mV to V scale. That will usually tell you if the contacts are pitted. Won't tell you if the contactor is mechanically sticking or dragging though. A visual inspection is a good idea too. The three pole contactor is the most common reason I find for a tripped breaker. That or a blown fuse in a fused disco. Sometimes the single phasing will overload the breaker and trip it before the IOL shuts the motor down.

Check disconnect with a thermal imager. The contacts may look good, but will heat up and trip the breaker.

I’ve learned to never assume power is coming in on the top of the disconnect…. Which works till you go to pull a fuse as the bottom end will always be hot

since that middle leg was a possibility of not getting good contact that caused the tripped breaker, would doing a voltage drop while unit is running help verify anything?

In my opinion, been in the business 30 plus years, That is the type of call where I just go ahead an replace the part. Zach definitely seems to be one of the most honest guys I have seen out there , but when you are dealing with the commercial side, the $$ amount is so minor that it shouldn't matter on an item like that. It will take a minimum of 2-3 weeks to get approval. More than likely you will get a call back in that 2-3 weeks, Time is money, and the amount of travel time to the job, then getting up to the roof and accessing the equipment is time!! Just Change it.!!

Hello friend, I have a question, if you could help me please, my question is the following: I have a two-story house, each floor is 1000 square feet and the height of each floor is 18 feet. My question: How can I calculate how many frigorias I need for my house? My question. The thing is that many air conditioning brands only give calculations for ceiling heights of 9 feet and they say that if they are more feet high the calculation is different but they don't say how I've been trying to find an answer for weeks and there isn't one and I would like an air packge unit for the whole house, my question in summary would be how should I calculate the frigories of my house by the height of my house which is too high

You’d be surprised how quick you get approval when you leave the system off. Tell them that you suspect that the contractor is bad and you don’t feel comfortable leaving the system on in that condition.
WHY should you have to wait, chase down the right person, then drive back there again to replace a simple part.
This is not being a prick, it’s being a realist. Your time and effort are valuable, others ( who are willing to pay ) are waiting. You’re not at their beck and call !!!!
