Rare: New Lots Avenue Bound R142 3 Train Ride: 135th Street To 110th Street

New York City Subway video of riding the R142 Subway Cars on the 3 Line from 135th Street To 110th Street. Due to the New Years Day celebrations with extra crowds, an R142 from the 2 Line was put on the 3 Train as extra service and did a round trip using 3 Train crews. Video was recorded on 1/1/2019 with the Nikon D610.

R142 3 is extremely rare and happens every like 2-3 years. I hope I can catch it for myself one day

The 1,2, and 3 looks legit with the R142 and I think the 5 train should get a few R142As from the 4&6 line

Yes ik that the 6 line is not using the R142As but that's only temporary so I'd say in the future when the r262 start to enter service between let's see 2025-2028 and will be completed by 2030

There's so much R62s on the 3. I saw some clips on UA-cam of the 2&4 using R62s and R62As the 5 also have them but is very hard to catch them

Sort of basically they borrowed a R142 that was laying up in the Livonia yard to be used on the (3) for extra service for the New Years ball drop and since there probably weren’t enough R62s available they used R142 instead it’s more like a (5) train that ended at crown heights Utica Avenue earlier deadheaded to Livonia yard layed up for a while then went into (3) train service
