All songs in movie were written by Sir Elton John & Tim Rice, this version is on the end credits & in the movie they needed the male & female vocals for the story for Simba & Nala singing to each other. My first Disney movie I watched was Aladdin then a year later this classic masterpiece I was only 5 &6 at the time.

I have loved Elton John's magical voice the moment I first heard it. All these years later he is amazing. We are so blessed to have a living legend among us.

I'm pretty sure that I Just Can't Wait To Be King is another one of Elton John's songs. Circle Of Life is his song too.

If you love his version of this song you need to hear Circle Of Life too. I don't know if you know he and Tim Rice wrote the songs for the film. One of the best movie soundtracks ever, imo. Elton is just magic. Also, I second what someone else commented that you need to check out Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding - amazing song! I hope you continue on your Elton journey because it's a wild and wonderful ride.
Wait until you watch his Circle of Life video. At the end of the video he gets to hold a lion cub in his lap and has the biggest smile that I have ever seen him smile. Awesome shots of the choir backing him up too.

Elton actually one an Oscar for “best original song” with this song for The Lion King, and he also had nominations for the same award for “The Circle of Life” and “Hakuna Matata”
Fun Fact: Rick Astley, Robert Englund (aka Freddie Kruger), Kiki Dee, and Gary Barlow of Take That sang background vocals on this song.

Elton John and Tim Rice wrote all the songs for the film. They both won an Academy Award for this song and they were also nominated for "Circle of Life" and "Hakuna Matata". Hans Zimmer wrote the score which also won an Oscar and Lebo M sang the intro on the film version of "Circle of Life".

Elton wrote several songs for this movie. I'm not sure why they didn't use it in the movie but his songs from this movie were huge hits. They had so much airplay it was crazy. Yes, he is so incredibly talented.
They did use it. This version played over the end credits.

the lion king, original cartoon version, the opening of it is far and away the most incredible most beautiful piece of animation ever in the history of the world. i mean it is absoslsutely AMAZING! that sunrise, the animals, the details, etc.. the entire movie is amazingly animated, but those first few minutes are just mind blowing

So fun fact about Can You Feel The Love Tonight;
When they had finished editing the whole film, they showed Elton the cut. They watched it all the way through and they had cut Can You Feel The Love Tonight from the movie completely. Well Elton looked at the executives and said, and I’m paraphrasing, you can’t cut that song, every Disney movie has to have a love song. So I do believe there was a back and forth but it was eventually put back in the film and is the song that ended up winning the academy award for the movie.

This brings tears to my eyes because my friend of 34 years passed away last year and he said to me a long time ago that he would like this song played at his remembrance. He had a massive stroke in 2016 and he was on the floor for 2 days. The house cleaner had a key and found him unconscious. He had to stay at a care facility that could look after him. Now for some reason Chris loved big exotic cats and that is why he had this song played. I miss him a lot and think of him every day.

Those of us who seen this movie when it came out knew this was an Elton John song. When it was in theatres he was the intro guy “please enjoy the movie”at least here in Canadian theatres. But the video came out the same time ish so.. ya it was all known at the time. Supose people forgot.

This is by far my favorite song by Sir Elton John. I am very much in love with my wife, to a degree almost done justice by the poetry in this song, and I can’t hear it even after all these years without my eyes flooding with tears and my heart swelling up with gratitude.

Don't Shoot Me, but I think his best work was recorded in the early 70's, from the 80's onwards things changed and his music be a little bit more ordinary, witness this song 😏Madman Across the Water, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Captain Fantastic, Elton John album, etc. They were a joy to listen to, Elton and Bernie were definitely on top form.

This just means you haven't watched the Lion King through the credits XD But that's okay, most people skip them. I had the soundtrack cassette as a kid and ever since the VHS came out I watched it all the way through the end, and this song is during the end credits. Btw, if you like Mulan, you should see none other than Jackie Chan sing I'll Make a Man Out of You (the let's get down to business song) in Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese!

I highly recommend " The One" by Sir Elton John. His most underrated song ever and its almost criminal that nobody reacted to it.

It’s amazing how he was able to sing well in 90’s... by the 00’s, his voice was goin downhill but I still love that he can put on a good show let alone still sing in his 70’s

I do not know what song it is from the Lion King movie but the music video has Elton John playing the piano and there is a baby lion cub he plays with in it.

I’m pretty sure Elton John wrote all of the music for the entire Soundtrack (Tim Rice wrote the lyrics). He does have such a beautiful voice. He had to be extremely talented to pull off some of the outfits he used to wear to his performances! 😂

His version is like the book it catches and points on all of those small details that (you)as a big fan would understand yet never envisioned. Hers is like the movie directors edition, Stephen King's Rita Hayworth & the Shawshank Redemption.....the book is 115 pages long the movie is damn near 3... great review!
