Absolutely beautiful..... the ancient dignity of plainsong....the dazzling clarity of boys' voices alternating with the operatic depth of the men chanting. Perfection!

I had a friend who was over my house for a house party that got a call that her sister was in a bad car accident and might not make it through the night. Her sister was in a different State and no way of her being able to see her until next day. I played her this psalm and asked everyone to pray... the calmness that came over us was unreal. We just knew god was gonna make it all better. This is one of my fav clips on UA-cam and I thank you for posting it!

My husband and I had the priviledge of attending mass at Westminister Cathedral in London three times. The music was entralling-unforgettable. I looked around and the entire place was packed with mostly young people from all over the world. The lines for Confession were around the corner-again mostly young people. I feel there's a quiet rebirth going on in our Church. This parish is at the epi-center of it, perhaps! Thankx for posting. This is perfect.

    Psalm 38
O LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath.
For your arrows have pierced me, and your hand has come down upon me.
Because of your wrath there is no health in my body; my bones have no soundness because of my sin.
My wounds fester and are loathsome because of my sinful folly.
My back is filled with searing pain; there is no health in my body
O LORD, do not forsake me; be not far from me, O my God.
Come quickly to help me, O Lord my Savior.

This is gorgeous! I visited this church in 07. The choir was so enthralling, I told my husband,"I can die right now."~ It was SRO every mass. The Catholic Church is alive and well in London,England~the place of many martyrs, including +St.John Southworth+ who lies in state within this church. And this choir is incredibly inspiring and hard-working. Thankx.

The absolute GOSPEL TRUTH is that the church founded by our Saviour is marked by four signs. Namely: She is ONE, She is Holy, She is Catholic and She is Apostolic. Sadly, no other protestant sect, can claim to be that Church. Our Lord founded the Church on Peter, Apostle of Christ and the first Bishop of Rome and therefore the first Pope. Pope Francis ,our present pope is his successor.

Actually, this is Catholic. And the tune they used in chanting the psalm we hear in this video is an old traditional one, one of the a modal tones for psalms (if my memory serves me correct as regards the term).
The reason why some may find this Anglican is because of the British accent. Nevertheless this is still Roman Catholic of the Vatican II Rites.

    To answer a few questions...
The year was 1994 (I know cos im in the video, it was my last year in the choir). It's a Catholic Cathedral, not CofE. And the guy with a white strand (his name is Aaron) doesn't have bleach in his hair - he has a birthmark on his head which causes the hair to turn white.
Oh and the conductor is James O'Donnell... Now the Master Of Music down the road at Westminster Abbey (we had great rivalry with them & the choir of St Paul's back in the day!)
If you like what you hear, check out the Hyperion record label. They did all our professional recordings, there's a huge back catalogue of Westminster Cathedral recordings available.

I've got to say this comment is a bit depressing really. Is it really necessary to arrogantly assert that the beliefs of many people is 'made up tosh'?
To return the favour I shall simply answer that atheists are under a strong delusion, "professing themselves wise they became fools". I've worked out that atheists are self-deluded, and think themselves a lot smarter than they prove to be when they land in a serious discussion on the philosophy and theology of the Church.
There, the score is even now.

Hardly. The Westminster Confession existed long before this cathedral. Article 25 par 6 would be enough to show that it could not have come from this denomination. Barely half a century after the drafting of the Westminster Confession, which was accepted by the Church of Scotland but not by the Church of England, control orders had to be placed on the Church of Rome due to what were seen as its antinational stance. The orders were not fully withdrawn til 1829.

This is a "translation" table of the numbers:
    LXX= Septuagint i.e. "Catholic"; MT = Masoretic Text i.e. reformed Jewish/Protestant.
    LXX MT
    1-8 1-8
    9 9-10
    10-112 11-113
    113 114-115
    114 116:1-9
    115 116:10-19
    116-145 117-146
    146 147:1-11
    147 147:12-20
    148-150 148-150
As of number of psalms, there are always 150 psalms but the old Jewish greek septuagint adds a 151:st psalm.
