I think a lot of people have completely forgotten this song. It has slipped under the radar. You never see it on any of their best of's, not even the 5 CD box set. And also not heard on radio either. I've always liked it since first hearing it in 1981 - and on that note, I have the Elder LP which is also really good.
Aus80sRockRadio Agreed. I think this song is right in the middle of Kiss' heart. A bit dark, a little bit of glam, but just pure rock, no bells and whistles. And pretty overlooked.
I know what a freaking shame this song is one of the best ever and say it's in the top 10 of all Kiss songs if you can't believe in yourself who can you believe in?
Yes in deed kiss brought down the house with I I remember this video first aired on the old now forgotten TV show solid gold with the solid gold dancer's too.
@wkplays767 well whenever kiss did this video it aired on solid gold the TV show darcel Wynn was the lead dancer who went to do a video with Kool and the gang called she's fresh ok.
Ace never showed up to the filming of this. This was right before he officially departed from the band. When they recorded "Songs from the Elder" Ace was pretty much against the whole concept record thing and wanted to play rock. Disagreements led to departures. Ace was planned to show up, but never did. But as Paul put it, "3 members of KISS is better than 4 members of some other bands"...
Ive been looking for this for a while! Ace wasn't there according to Gene cause he was "comatose".... It is too bad they never toured this album, the reason they didn't is because when it was released it sold less than 500,000 copies....
Does anyone see a similarity between this song and Thin Lizzy's You Can Do Anything You Want To ? No accusations or anything just wondering if that ever went through anyone else's head
Ese dvd tiene versiones en vivo que suenan muy bien, como la de Do you love me, Makin Love y C'mon and love me, suenan muy bien pero ya no las veo aquí en UA-cam :(

The good thing about this lowpoint is that Kiss realized that this sucks. So they later gave us Creatures of the Night which is one of my favourite Kiss albums.
@@ErnieLanham No it wouldn't have. This is a false narrative a lot of fans have bought into. By 1981 KISS was passe so no matter what they put out it would have been ignored. Their makeup act wore thin, it took then removing the makeup to make people pay attention to them again.
@68bobba1 Ya, when it first came out, he hated every second of it. In a recent interview he said he kinda likes it. And you're right, Ace probably had no say (well, not probably, he didn't!) And, Eric Carr wasn't a member of the KISS partnership.
@1015atk Ace didn't show up because he was too stoned to move. Thats why. Hid drug use was so bad i'm surprised he remembers his name. Ace actually says he kinda likes the album. He just thinks it not right for KISS. I think it's awesome.
@sawyerpdp the irony of Aces departure due to not liking the non rock stuff they were putting out is that the next album they made after he left ("Creatures") was one of the heaviest albums they made to date
@jimiele Ace didnt make it to this taping. First because thats when his drinking problem started to really take over and secondly he was unhappy with the direction Kiss was going with their music. He HATED The Elder album and the direction the band was headed
Ace wasn't buying into the idea that 'I' believe in Me. Gene & Paul were both heavily invested in this ideal without understanding the impact it has on other key members of the band
@RAMBLERMEZ96 Plus Eric Carr's drumming and drum sound on Creatures are way heavier than Eric Singers on Revenge. I mean really? Revenge had what? Unholy, Thou Shalt Not, Heart Of Chrome, and hmmm...Spit...but Spit is funky and not really heavy. Creatures had Creatures, Saint and Sinner, Rock N Roll Hell, Danger, Killer, I Love It Loud, War Machine. Even Keep Me Coming and I still Love You is heavier than Take It Off and Everytime I look At You.
The Elder was the beginning of the New Kiss sound for the 80's. But the coming of Vinnie Vincent was a décisive step to create Créature of the Night. That's a fact you have to accept.😊
A large part of one of their tours they coincide with RUSH in many cities and they share experiences. It is posible that they get the idea to make a conceptual álbum that tell us a story from that time. This is so beautifull. Too bad a large quantity of fans can´t understant it. This álbum is the Tommy, the Dark Side of the Moon.. of Kiss.
this was 1981... if this was a sad time in their career why did they draw over 200.000 people in brazil in 1983? kiss peaked in 1977 and truly lost most of their fans and identity when they took the make up off in late 1983 dont get me wrong kiss had some successful songs throughout 1984 to 1996 the real and the best kiss were 1973-1978/1996-2000
again showing your idiocy. Carr was not only in the band at this point, he co-wrote one of the songs on the record. Stop commenting, u simply do not know what you are talking about.
Why so much hate? If people didn't know it was released on "The Elder" I bet they wouldn't hate it. I mean, this song sounds like pretty basic Kiss song.
And wouldn't it have been something if it weren't a very very very bad lip sync to the album? Ive said it once, I'll say it again,.. KISS is the greatest KISS tribute band in the history of rock and roll. You are being deceived.
2 songs in his career? Wrong. He has written a lot more. The thing was that his songs rarely got on Kiss albums. But even on Kiss albums there are more than 2 songs credited to him (there are five plus his solo album). He wasn't a great drummer but he had his own style that inspired many drummers, for example Tommy Lee. You are right about Gene and Paul being the most important members of Kiss but IMO Kiss is Ace, Peter, Gene and Paul. But yeah, I agree, they are not a cover band.

Yeah it’s definitely one of their best songs yet so underrated

@wkplays767 well whenever kiss did this video it aired on solid gold the TV show darcel Wynn was the lead dancer who went to do a video with Kool and the gang called she's fresh ok.
They have so much confidence in themselves, its the greatest thing to see
Great Ace :-)
LEGENDARY🤩R.I.P. ERIC CARR
One of the sickest tunes they ever produced - it's still in my head since 30 years.
Amazing Song...one of my favoure songs of kiss
The Best of Best KISS..
Rock it!
La mejor cancion de kiss
Eric carr era un buen baterista desafortunadamente se fue en 1991
he´s the best singer ever!
My favorite song on the elder. But several more are damn good too

Ace is in the original recordings of two "I" videos.
My first audio cassette of Kiss was The Elder , love at first earing .
I love this song
this is an awesome song...
1981 was the definitve KISS downfall year with the flopping album Songs From the Elder and the new bands as Metallica & Venom.
Ace Frehley left the building? This is the album track over an missing Ace performance? He was still a member. WTF?
大変良いです。リズミカルで、ノリノリいいね。曲の構成が良い❤
Excellent song !👍👍
This was filmed at Studio 54 in Manhattan for Italian TV. I was somewhere in the audience with my friend Mike. It was a fun time.
Very cool!!!!
That’s awesome. Were they actually lip synching it live??
@@luismaldonado4989 yeah, they were lip syncing. Ace wasn't there. It was a blast
Great quality...Love KISS...
J adore cette chanson 🎵
Thats a song that's good for your self-belief.
Seeing them in the crowd with fans in the makeup era was VERY RARE AND VERY VERY COOL!!!!
I love this
Que chingona cancion
a very under rated KISS song!!

I wouldn't win no way
But I've got news for you
There's nothing I can't do
Ain't no pretending
Ain't no make-believe
But I've got to be the one
I've gotta do what must be done
And I, (I) believe in me

@BX02 Haha, this is a music video, not a real live show.
This is a pretty song... I don´t understand why the hate. Chill out!!
Ace couldn't be bothered to show up Gene and Paul finally realized the writing was on the wall
He had pretty much quit the band at this point. They somehow got him to go on the Euro promotion tour even though by then he was out of the band.
Ace said, he was dying.
He certainly still had a contract. But he needed medical help.
INFANCIA
The good thing about this lowpoint is that Kiss realized that this sucks. So they later gave us Creatures of the Night which is one of my favourite Kiss albums.

No it's not. As a whole Lick It Up is heavier.

It's all lip synced, what are you talking about?
This is KISS energy⚡⚡⚡⚡
:-)))))) CAN YOU FEEL IT
The ones in this video. The original Kiss costumes were totally cool.
Kiss as a 3 piece! At least in this video!

That's quite sums it up.
em 1981, foram substituidos no lugar de Peter Criss e Ace Frehley, foram Vinnie Vincent e Eric Carr
Vinnie Vincent wasn't around yet.
#Kiss without #ACE was like a #bone without a #dog LOL

they're lip syncing at studio 54 for a festival in italy - ace is not there

I'm not gay, but if I had to blow one Paul Stanley, it would be early 80s purple headband Paul Stanley. No question.
Cool

whats with the headband?
good playback
its obviously not live because at 0:28 paul is obviously not playing yet the guitar is
Eric Carr (The Fox) in the drums
I had 6 years old 😂
This video I think is a german TV presentation using playback and without Ace Frehley because he was to drunk to play, even with playback.
