Good lord , so glad I watched this video. I would have gotten so frustrated with this multi for sure. Great channel man!!! Keep them videos coming!

Thanks for watching! Yep, I’d recommend waiting for an updated version, if one ever comes

Don’t worry about being negative it is what it is you’re just giving an honest opinion. The concept is good but the execution not so much! I can’t help but think all of that coating on the tool is part of the problem. I’ll stick with my Leatherman’s for sure ; if you have to keep fiddling with a tool just to use it for its intended purpose it’s not worth it.

Great video man! Listen, don't worry about sounding negative, its just your opinion and experience. I really want one still, despite the flaws. I think overall the modilarity and toolset are super cool, and if we keep giving them honest feedback, maybe they'll address the issues. Great work for real, I like it that you're so honest and transparent! It tells us we can trust you!

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback! And exactly, just have to give our honest opinions, and hopefully they make the changes it needs. Thanks for watching!

I love the concept and I’m rooting for GOAT, but they need to come out with the 2.0.

Thanks for watching! It’s a shame, such a great concept, just needs fine tuning

Had the same exact problem with trying to install scales (for which you must remove all the screw to do it properly). Idk what’s up with manufacturers offering swappable scales, then DROWNING screws and barrels with loctite. Heat gun made all the difference.

Thanks for sharing, I was curious if anyone else had this issue.

Love the concept and looking forward to the gen 2 but for the price there’s to many issues with it, for now I’m going with the roxon flex for half the price

The reason you have the issue with the saw blade not locking is because the supplied 1mm washer needs to sit between the body and the saw blade, so the saw blade catch can sit in the back spring channel, otherwise it wont lock.
If you use a 0.1mm thick brass/bronze shim between the lever and blade, it solves the problem of catching the lever - I lapped a shim to a polish (up to 2000 grit) and I can now open the main tools without the lever opening. - although, the lever does tend to show movement when the tool is almost fully opened.
You're right in what you say, the black oxide increases friction, it takes a long(!) time to wear in.
The blade popping out seems to be the main issue with the Goat tools. MANY users have reported that the tension on the spring back isn't strong enough to hold the blade in. - resulting in users slightly bending the back spring closer to the tools, so that its tension is increased.
As for the wire cutters, a dremel to grind away a small slope between the screw and the main body, so that wire cutting is easier.
Also, placing small neodymium magnet inside so that they face each other, helps keep it closed, whilst still being easy to open with one hand. - unfortunately, for those that work with metal, magnets are a pain!
I get that for a multitool, no one should have to do this amount of modding to their tool to be eventually good to use(In saying that, there isn't a leatherman I own that hasn't been customised!😂).
Good to see a vid talking about the issues with this tool! Being honest and having constructive criticism is the way for companies to learn. I only hope Goat tool learn from this and sort all these issues out in their next gen version.

Thank you for sharing! You point out some great fixes, that I would definitely like to try. Thanks for the support, I also hope they listen to these critiques and try to sort some of them out!

Love the surge! And I want to check out the super tool 300, but I think the surge fills that spot very nicely! Thanks for watching!

I pre-ordered mine with all the bells and whistles and have had exactly the same experience. It breaks my heart to say it, but this thing just plain sucks. For what it's worth, I have the non-oxide version and the tools clump up just as bad.

You did the screws wrong. You have to do it on the release arm side because the release are catches the barrel and holds it

I also was a bit dissapointed at first but have now got used to it and am quit happy. Size suits me and most of the tools are pretty good. Would rather have ha a file instead of the craft knife. Otherwise its ok but probably not worth the money in hindsight.

Yeah, except you've taken a good chunk of metal away adjacent to the screw holes for the cutters, focusing more stress at what's already a weak point. I wonder would GOAT warranty a plier head that failed after someone had done this "fix". Maybe to someone affiliated with the product but not to the ordinary punter I'd bet.

    • @andrewfett142
      @andrewfett142 9 місяців тому +1

@@colinhawthorne323howdy Colin. I’m almost 100% sure they would warranty everything. They very much encourage modding your goat and say they will still honor their lifetime warranty. Nobody does that. I made 50 some vids showing the bad and good and I still say that I don’t recommend the goat for everyone. I’ve just recently became an affiliate because I’m very happy with my goat. It’s been the perfect tool for me even with its imperfections. This is my first and only affiliation. I’ve made $40 so far. (still pending)🙂
I have a couple new goat vids posting this weekend.
And I think I will revisit the wire cutters to remove more material closer to the screw hole w/o any structural integrity loss. 👍🏼

Makes sense, never liked the design personally.
Plus, Goats aren't the most inspiring animals either. The name put me off from the start. Sounds like a stupid reason, but...
    Goat.
    Y'know.
